However, there are other instances when a fence may be required for the safety of the dog or puppy -Must be the only dog in the home Name: Dakota Adoption fee sponsored by a friend of Greenmore. Age: 5 yrs DOB: 11/29/20 Weight: 50 lbs. Crate-trained: Yes PLEASE NOTE: To apply to adopt, the application and adoption process can be found on our website greenmorerescue.org. Please read dog's bio carefully before applying. Meet Dakota! Dakota is a beautiful, spirited, and very smart girl who's ready to find a home that matches her energy and love for life. She's full of personality and always tuned in to what's going on around her - especially if there are squirrels to watch! This girl has energy to spare! She loves going on walks, exploring the world by your side, and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can zoom around safely. Dakota is also a big fan of fetch and absolutely loves squeaky balls - they're her favorite way to play! Dakota can be dog selective and does best with slow introductions. While she's non-reactive in the kennel and around fence-line neighbors, she can be leash-reactive, so continued training and structure will help her keep building great habits. More than anything, Dakota loves spending quality time with her people. She enjoys being close, will happily lean in for a good snuggle, and forms strong bonds with those she loves. She'll do best in a home with teenagers or older who understand how to respect her space and boundaries. Dakota would prefer to be the only dog in the home so she can soak up all the attention. Dakota is a loyal, loving companion who will bring fun, affection, and lots of personality into the right home. Adoption donation is $0 cash, $0 credit, debit or Venmo. This donation includes a microchip. Another great reason to adopt form Greenmore..... Greenmore Rescue preforms the 4dx blood test on ALL of our adult dogs FREE OF CHARGE to adopters! This blood test checks for diseases such as Lyme and Heartworm Disease that are transmitted to dogs from a tick or mosquito bite. If the dog you are interested in tests positive for any of these conditions, treatment will already have been started or completed. Your Adoption Counselor will review any findings with you and we will provide all medical records, along with any medication the dog may need at the time of adoption. ***A NOTE ON BREEDS: The dog's listed breed(s) is the best assessment made by a veterinarian, pet finder or rescue staff and is not guaranteed. Story
SKYLAR Is a 7 year old husky who was found as a stray in Baltimore. Being bred to run across the frozen tundra, he does like to test his boundaries so a secure fence and lots of exercise is a must for this guy! Skylar loves his walks and loves to be petted. Rides well in the car! He does have some issues with handling his neck/collar area - he may have had a bad experience with rough handling at some point. He does easily let us hook a leash to his collar but was a little mouthy with the volunteers at the shelter where we got him from when they were putting on and off a slip lead over his head. He was very polite about it and didn’t bite down but because of this we prefer him to have a home without small children. We would love Skylar to go to a family with husky experience! He ha shown some resource guarding with toys so we are recommending he be he only pup where he can soak up all the love and attention. Skylar is neutered and has been vaccinated, 4DX tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy please fill out an application at www.companimals.org. Story
COCO came to us after she had a cluster of seizures in her newly adoptive home. She was adopted only a month before from a rescue in Tennessee which did not respond to our inquiries regarding her previous history. Coco is a SWEET girl! She is currently in a foster home with a Chihuahua and several cats and does well with all! She enjoys her walks as much as she enjoys her couch time! Coco is a beautiful red brindle! she is 110% housebroken. Great with meeting new people! Coco is in Keppra and phenobarbital to control her seizures. She has had a couple of clusters since arriving in her foster home and we are working In fine tuning her meds. Coco will need more frequent vet visits than the average dog her age. With excellent care, we feel she can live a relatively normal life and will make an excellent companion for some lucky family. Coco has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Adoption $200. Please fill out an application at www.companimals.org if you are interested in adding Coco to your family! March 7, 2026, 5:36 pm

Story
ABOUT LUNA Meet princess Luna, a 4-year-old Husky mix seeking a patient, experienced owner who understands her unique personality. Luna arrived at HAP, scared and unsure of the world around her. While we don’t know her full history, it’s clear she has endured some hardships. It took her a while to trust us, so she may need patience at your first meeting, but once she feels safe, her true self shines through! Luna is a sweet, playful, and wonderfully goofy girl with a classic Husky sassiness. She’s vocal about her feelings, loves playing with toys of all kinds, and enjoys chasing tennis balls. She thrives spending time outside sniffing, running, and playing. Once inside, she loves to curl up on her fluffy blankets and chew on her bones. Luna has a “less is more” quality, she’ll leave you wanting more, and she appreciates a slower, respectful approach when first meeting new people. While Luna has been able to pass other dogs with redirection, she hasn’t made any canine friends yet and may do best as the only pet in a home where she can be the pampered princess. Once she feels comfortable, she seeks out and enjoys affection, but she communicates her boundaries clearly and may escalate if her space isn’t respected. For this reason, Luna would thrive with older, respectful family members who understand and honor her communication style. With patience, love, and understanding, Luna will grow into a loyal and loving companion who brings joy, laughter, and a touch of Husky mischief into your home! **If interested in adopting Luna, please reach out to our trainer, Ben Touchton, at btouchton@hapde.org Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
His name is Noah. He is updated on all his shots and he even has a microchip. He’s a 9 year old Siberian Husky. I got him from a family that was moving out of the country and they couldn’t take him. They told me he was 6 but after receiving his paperwork, I found out he was 9. He’s neutered and he’s well trained. He’s actually a really good boy. Where he was previously he had a big backyard and was mainly outside. I live in an Apartment and he’s been adjusting well but with my schedule, I barely have time to take him out and I feel so bad. I’m looking for someone who has a home or who has the time to be able to take care of him. Noah is such a loving dog and my fiancée and I really love him but we don’t have the means to really provide him the best life he deserves. I put $50 because we’ve spent a good amount of money on Noah but honestly you don’t have to give me anything. Just a promise that Noah will be taken care of. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match!
