Story
ABOUT LUNA Luna is a 4-year-old Husky mix seeking a patient, experienced owner. Luna arrived at HAP in March, scared and unsure of the world around her. While we don’t know her full history, it’s clear she has endured some hardships. At first, Luna can be timid when meeting new people, but she has made incredible progress since her arrival. Once she feels safe, her true self shines through, a sweet, playful, and wonderfully goofy girl! Luna loves playing with toys, enjoys spending time outside, and thrives embracing her independence! **If interested in adopting Luna, please reach out to our trainer, Ben Touchton, at btouchton@hapde.org Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT ROCKET Rocket is a 1-year-old energetic pup looking for his adventure buddy! Sadly, he was abandoned on our property, so we don’t know much about his past, but one thing’s for sure, this pup loves life! Rocket is extremely social and affectionate, eagerly greeting everyone he meets with big hugs and a wagging tail. He’s playful, loves zooming around our fenced fields, chasing toys, and then curling up next to you for some well-earned snuggles. If you're looking for a hiking partner or an always-up-for-fun companion, Rocket might be your perfect match. He's been doing well with house and leash training since arriving with us, and he's proven to be a super sweet, active boy who thrives on attention and adventure. He has loved participating in our Doggy Day Out program too! Here's what our volunteers had to say about him: "I had a great day with Rocket. He’s such a friendly and playful pup! When I picked Rocket up from the shelter, he really lived up to his name, he came out hot! Rocket was very excited, jumping all over the place (lol), but he was very good in the car. He hopped in by himself and sat nicely in the back seat. We started the day with a long walk in the neighborhood. Rocket seemed to really enjoy it. He does pull a bit, but overall, he was really good. Rocket was pretty well-behaved in the house, he's very curious about everything and really loved playing with lots of toys. He can be mouthy and jumpy when he wants to play with you. It doesn’t hurt, he’s just an excited puppy who’s still learning and really wants to be loved. Rocket seemed to respond to “no” when corrected. When he wasn’t playing, Rocket enjoyed cuddling up by my legs and feet and getting petted. He loves getting lots of attention. Rocket is such a loving and well-behaved pup, and I hope he’s adopted soon!" - Zoe "Rocket is super sweet and friendly. He would thrive with someone who can handle his puppy energy! He jumped right into the car, enjoyed sticking his head out of the window, and laid down for the drive back. He explored everywhere on our walk, even after an hour! He seems to have a prey drive, trying to chase any wild animal (bird, squirrel, groundhog) we saw. He was very friendly toward another person we interacted with, he really enjoys attention!" - Jade **Due to Rocket's prey drive, he would do best in a home without cats or small animals. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
SKYLAR Is a 7 year old husky who was found as a stray in Baltimore. Being bred to run across the frozen tundra, he does like to test his boundaries so a secure fence and lots of exercise is a must for this guy! Skylar loves his walks and loves to be petted. Rides well in the car! He does have some issues with handling his neck/collar area - he may have had a bad experience with rough handling at some point. He does easily let us hook a leash to his collar but was a little mouthy with the volunteers at the shelter where we got him from when they were putting on and off a slip lead over his head. He was very polite about it and didn’t bite down but because of this we prefer him to have a home without small children. We would love Skylar to go to a family with husky experience! He ha shown some resource guarding with toys so we are recommending he be he only pup where he can soak up all the love and attention. Skylar is neutered and has been vaccinated, 4DX tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy please fill out an application at www.companimals.org. Story
COCO came to us after she had a cluster of seizures in her newly adoptive home. She was adopted only a month before from a rescue in Tennessee which did not respond to our inquiries regarding her previous history. Coco is a SWEET girl! She is currently in a foster home with a Chihuahua and several cats and does well with all! She enjoys her walks as much as she enjoys her couch time! Coco is a beautiful red brindle! she is 110% housebroken. Great with meeting new people! Coco is in Keppra and phenobarbital to control her seizures. She has had a couple of clusters since arriving in her foster home and we are working In fine tuning her meds. Coco will need more frequent vet visits than the average dog her age. With excellent care, we feel she can live a relatively normal life and will make an excellent companion for some lucky family. Coco has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Adoption $200. Please fill out an application at www.companimals.org if you are interested in adding Coco to your family! November 3, 2024, 10:40 am
