Story
SOS! Solomon is a wonderful 9 yr old husky boy needing an urgent home with no cats or chickens. He was surrendered for euthanasia for killing chickens. Huskies are notorious for escape artists when they are bored. Since he was pulled to the rescue, he has never attempted to escape our fence. He is fully vetted and house trained. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. His adoption fee is only the cost of transport. Story
Maisy is a beautiful female husky with a gentle heart and a sweet, quiet demeanor. She was found as a stray and is now safe and ready to start her next chapter. Maisy can be a bit shy at first, but she is incredibly kind and tolerant, allowing handling without issue. She rides calmly in the car, enjoys taking in the world around her, and has a peaceful presence that makes her easy to be around. Maisy is still settling in and would love a patient, loving home where she can build confidence, gain some healthy weight, and finally enjoy the comfort and security she deserves. With time and care, this lovely girl is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. Behavior Notes: Per finder: We saw Maisy in an open area alone looking for food. We pulled over and immediately got out of the car. She was trying to chew on some sort of bone. I went over to her and she immediately smelled my hand and then went back to trying to eat the bone. I approached her and touched her back, she froze in fear and was shaking. I picked her up and placed her in the back of the car. We drove 15 mins to acct and she sat in the back seat quiet. She whined for less than a minute and then just sat and looked out the window. She had a very strong odor and looks very thin. Her nipples were enlarged which made me think she may have had puppies recently. When we got to acct we had a staff member get her out of the car. She was sweet the whole time and just really scared. No signs of aggression at all She didn't have a collar on either but had an imprint in her fur like she could have had a collar on ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. Story
Meet Koda (fka Hermes) who came to ACCT Philly as a stray. From the very beginning, he showed what a steady, well-mannered boy he is. Remaining calm during intake, allowing staff to leash him easily, and walking nicely alongside his handler. In the shelter, Koda continues to show off his gentle and easygoing nature. He is consistently easy to leash, walks politely on leash, and takes treats with exceptional gentleness. While he can be aloof and independent, he enjoys respectful interactions and shows sweet flashes of affection; sometimes hopping up briefly for attention before happily bouncing away. He appreciates pets on his own terms and seems especially fond of chest scritches. Koda has done well with other dogs at the shelter and has demonstrated calm, appropriate social skills. He did have one dog interaction that was not positive, however he recovered quickly from the interaction and had appropriate play afterwards. He greets politely, maintains a soft and loose body, and enjoys relaxed parallel walking without pressure to engage in play, though he has shown playful moments and interest in toys. Overall, Koda is a boy who would thrive in a home that appreciates a mellow, thoughtful companion who doesn’t demand constant attention but enjoys a meaningful and gentle connection. He is a handsome, sweet boy with good leash manners, polite social skills, and a quiet charming personality that really shines once you spend time with him. Koda is in foster care through ACCT Philly, to learn more or schedule a meet please email foster@acctphilly.org BEHAVIOR NOTES: 01/15/2026 foster notes: Good afternoon! Hermes has been doing great! He took no time in getting comfy at home and showing his sassy husky vocals off along with his play stances. Loves to get boots scratches and give kisses. He doesn't react at all when he hears the others dogs barking. Last night showed he was a little anxious, so his human foster sister slept in the bedroom with him and he curled up next to her, even turned over for belly rubs. On another note, any possibility on changing his name? He does not respond to Hermes, but when my daughter mentioned the name Koda, he actually looked and turned his head. Just figured it's worth asking. Side comment- he is so sweet and we fell in love immediately ❤️ Walksheet notes: - 12/23 per staff: Super Sweet boy. Not very interested in people, great on leash - 12/24 per staff: Sweet boy, good on leash. Likes having chest scratched - 12/24 per staff: Met Cranberry Frosting, did well. Easy to leash & walk. Tolerant of pets but doesn't ask for them - 12/27 per staff: Lose leash(mostly). Sniff & marking focused - 1/4 per staff: Play bowed w/ other dogs. Loves toys & easy to take from him. Tolerated pets but flinched when I went to pet him overhead -1/5 per staff: Walks nicely on leash. Sniffs around pens. Enjoyed some pets, gentle On 1/5 per volunteer: Hermes is very easy to leash and remove from kennel. He was very easy to take out and seem to be low - medium energy when walking through the parking lot . When we got in the yard he showed his adorable personality playing with toys and soliciting affection. I was able to take the toy easily and continue playing. He is a very handsome and sweet boy On 12/24 per staff: Kennel Presentation: At the kennel door when I approached. Neutral body, tail down, soft eyes with ears forward. Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Easy to leash, walked right next to handler through kennels. Would randomly pull mildly when outside. Sociability: Aloof most of the time. I did some consent petting and he just stood there with his head in the other direction. When I sat on the bench he did jump up on me and then bounce away. Takes treats very gently. Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Scotty is a sweet, energetic boy who came to ACCT as a stray after being picked up by our Animal Protection Officers. From the moment he arrived, his friendly personality and happy-go-lucky spirit have shined through. Scotty is a high-energy pup who loves to run and play. Volunteers describe him as an enthusiastic jogging buddy who can’t wait to get outside—he happily zooms around the yard and is always up for a few extra laps. He’s very treat-motivated, already knows “sit,” and is easy to redirect with a snack or a little leash guidance. He can get bouncy when excited, but with how quickly he responds to cues, he’s well on his way to being a wonderfully mannered companion. In his kennel, Scotty presents softly and sweetly, greeting visitors at the front with gentle eyes and a loose, wiggly body. He takes treats gently, enjoys affection, and loves leaning into his people for pets. He’s also a talker in the most endearing husky-like way—full of personality and charm. Scotty has shown friendly interest in other dogs, offering loose body language and playful bows through the fence. He may do well with a canine friend who matches his play style. This handsome boy has had a couple of moments in the shelter where he became worried after picking up food off the ground, showing some hypersalivation and brief hesitation. Staff helped him through it, and outside of those moments he remained social, responsive to treats, and tolerant of handling. His initial shyness during intake—needing some encouragement to load into the truck—shows that while he’s a confident, silly guy, he also has a soft, sensitive side. Overall, Scotty is a friendly, affectionate, and playful pup who’s ready to leave the shelter behind and find a family who will help him run, explore, and continue learning. If you’re looking for a fun-loving adventure buddy with a big heart, Scotty is your guy! Videos: Scotty & Margo Meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/LsnHraKGYBM?feature=share Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 12/3/25: High-energy boy who loves to run! I took Scottie out for a walk last night, and he was so excited to go. He is very treat-motivated and will sit/stay for treats. He loves to run (we went for several laps along the yard). He jumps a fair amount, but he is easily redirected with treats or leash pressure. He was easy to leash and did well running with me. He was happy to run and play! Per staff 12/1/25: Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel when I approached. Soft eyes, ears to the side and loose body. Took a treat gently through the kennel bars. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of kennel without hesitation. Mildly pulled on the leash through the kennels, zig zags on the leash and pulled a little harder outside but easy to redirect. Sociability: Very social. Silly guy allowed all handling, would Playbow to me spin around and lean into my legs. He can be talkative like any husky is. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Coraline through the fence. Loose, wiggly and playbowing to eachother. Return to Kennel: Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue. Per staff 12/1/25: Took Scotty out for a meet - was reasonably easy to leash and was neutral to loose the entire time. Before walking into the vestibule he seemed to grab something off the ground and then froze. He began to hypersalivate and showing his teeth, though I wasn't sure if he was bearing his teeth or was trying to not cough up what he'd gotten. After a minute he loosened up and stopped, and he took a treat fine, so we continued with the meet. He was fine with during the meet - a little mouthy but allowed all handling and showed knowledge of sit. He was very treat motivated. On the way back he put on the brakes in C row and the same thing happened again, however I saw on the ground a piece of food that I'd been assuming he'd eaten. He seemed to be salivating more this time, so I called for behavior over the walkie. Stevie came up and he'd mostly stopped. He was hesitant to go back in the kennel, but with momentum and treats he went back reasonably easily. Main concern was the hypersalivation and that the second time he did seem to be baring teeth. Per staff 11/29/25: bit headshy when being leashed, had to be lassoed. Hesitant to get in truck, had to be suitcased. Scotty is friendly, just a bit shy ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
