Story
Meet Olaf the 6mth Pit/Husky! Olaf is a sweet, goofy and playful puppy with the cutest underbite! He has been DNA tested and his results came back as followed- 41% Siberian Husky 29% American Pit Bull Terrier 16% American Staffordshire Terrier 6% American Bulldog 4% Rottweiler Olaf can be a little shy when meeting new people but once he is comfortable, he is a complete love bug. He loves meeting new doggy friends and does great with friends of all shapes and sizes, although he does tend to play pretty rough. Olaf has recently been dealing with some inconsistent mobility issues (limping, falling over) and was referred to a neurologist. After evaluations and further testing with his specialist, we have concluded that these mobility issues are due to a past trauma when he was a small puppy. Unfortunately, there is no further treatment that can be done. With this being said, he does not seem to be affected or bothered by this at all and he does not require any special care. Most days, he acts like a normal puppy, and you would not be able to tell he has old trauma. On a “bad” day, he may have an on and off right leg limp and strenuous activity should be avoided. Olaf is still working on potty training and needs a consistent and patient family who is willing to take him out frequently. He has been doing well if he goes out every few hours. He is crate trained and knows his basic commands. For being half husky, he is a very quiet boy and is not a big barker/howler. He would make a great apartment dog if there are no breed restrictions! He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, HW- and microchipped. Olaf would make the perfect addition to almost any household! He is such a sweet boy with a lot of love to give!

Story
Meet Nectar! SEE STRAYCATION UPDATE BELOW! This delightful gal is as sweet as her namesake! Nectar is a one-year-old, 36-pound husky mix who have you wondering just how you lived without her! Nectar spent a few days away from the kennel and we are so excited to share everything we learned about our darling girl! Affectionate and curious, Nectar is a true joy to be around. She knows sit and is learning several other commands. She enjoys all sorts of treats which she takes gently. Nectar isn't currently a hug fan of toys, but enjoys some plush and rope toys. Her foster family was able to take both toys and treats away with no issue. Nectar is ready to join you on all of your adventures and will thrive in a highly active home where she will get lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She rides very well in the car and is great on her leash too. She could benefit from having another dog in the home to play and would be an excellent fur pal for another energetic pup. She did spend time with a cat, but would need a savvy feline that could hold their own and establish boundaries with her. A physical fenced-in yard for her to enjoy is a must for this lively lady! Nectar is a pup that will prosper with routine and structure. She was on her way to being house and crate-trained and with further work we think she'll do well with both. At the end of a fun-filled day, Nectar sleeps quietly though the night in her cozy dog bed. A family with husky experience will be the ideal fit for this snuggle baby! Based on our evaluation, we feel Nectar would do best in a very active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Nectar could be the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our cuddle queen!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This sweet old gentleman has had a rough go of things. After years of neglect, he’s finally safe and loved — and now he’s ready for the happy ending he’s always deserved. Despite everything he’s been through, his gentle eyes still sparkle with kindness, and his heart is full of love to give. He may be a senior, but don’t tell him that! He still enjoys short walks, cozy naps, and a good brushing session. What he really dreams of now is a retirement home where he can be spoiled silly — a soft bed, tasty meals, and someone to tell him every day what a good boy he is. This resilient Husky has spent too long without comfort or care, and he’s more than ready to spend the rest of his life surrounded by warmth, love, and peace. If you’ve got room in your heart (and your home) for a loyal, grateful companion, this wonderful old soul is waiting just for you. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. November 30, 2025, 8:37 pm

Story
***Deuce is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch.*** This handsome guy is about 7 years old and 70 pounds. Deuce is a typical large breed dog- slow moving, calm, and laid back with short playful bursts of energy. He loves people and other dogs. Deuce knows sit, down, high five, shake, wait, stay, off and leave it. He is fully house trained and is currently in foster with an older male and younger female dog. His favorite things to do include time with his people, hikes, car rides and playtime, especially with other dogs. Deuce needs a knowledgeable and active adopter who can keep him challenged and set limits. Deuce initially displayed some food guarding at the kennel. This is not apparent in his foster care. However, his adopter will need to continue working with him so that it does not resurface. He needs an adult only home. Deuce would love a fenced in yard to safely explore. If you are interested in Deuce and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and his foster mom will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*
