You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Triscuit is an absolute lovebug looking for a snuggle buddy. He loves to be pet and will sometimes ask for pets by putting his head under your arm. When he’s in the mood for cuddles, his concept of personal space is somewhat lacking and he will lay on the couch on top of people. He is a bit skittish with new people, but gets over it pretty quickly when he realizes there are treats and pets available. He is food motivated but stubborn, so he would do best with a patient owner who can continue with his training. Triscuit has just gone through the long and difficult treatment for heartworm and is very excited to be able to run and play once again! He has husky energy and often gets the zoomies, running in circles until he’s tired. When entertaining himself, he will be sure to pull out every single toy in the toy bin and test them each individually until he is confident he found the best one. If you’re looking for a goofy dog with his own personality to bring laughter and love into your home, look no further!   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. August 23, 2026, 9:10 pm

Story
**If you are interested in adopting Yuki, please contact Caleb at caleb1594@gmail.com.** Meet Yuki 🐾 Yuki is a 3-year-old Husky who is, quite frankly, very good at being a Husky. He’s smart, energetic, athletic, and full of personality—and he’s looking for a home that understands what that really means. Yuki walks well on a leash and is house-broken. He’s crate trained, though he has occasionally demonstrated his impressive problem-solving skills by getting out of it. He has lots of energy and will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. He can jump fences, so a secure yard (or supervised outdoor time) is a must. He enjoys being groomed and doesn’t mind baths, loves to cuddle, and is a big fan of belly rubs. Yuki also gets car sick, so short trips or some patience will be needed there. Yuki should be the only pet in the home—he is definitely not cat-friendly, and his behavior around other dogs or children is currently unknown. Because of his breed traits and energy level, Yuki would do best with an experienced Husky owner or someone who is truly willing to put in the time, training, and commitment this breed requires. In short: Yuki isn’t “too much dog”—he’s just exactly the dog you’d expect when you adopt a Husky. If you’re ready for an active, clever, affectionate companion and understand that Huskies don’t come with an “off” switch, Yuki might be your perfect match. *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.

Story
Rocky is a 6-year-old male. We rescued him from a family member who could not take care of him after she was dog-sitting for their original owners, who left the state and could not bring him with them. Rocky is a very loving pet, and this is very hard for us. However, we think he should be with a home with an owner who understands this breed better than we do. We have completed a lot of training at our home and at a training center. Our neighborhood does not allow us any fencing. We would love to place him in a home with a husky already, and/or an experienced owner with a husky. He does like to roam if he can get out, so he needs a solution to keep him in. He will also chase after cats. Other than that, he's adorable, happy and friendly and very social.
