Story

Elsa’s Story 🐾 Elsa became part of our family in 2023 when we adopted her, and from the beginning, she quickly became an important part of our family. Elsa is playful, energetic, and always ready for some fun. She especially loves long walks, exploring her surroundings, and spending time outside. She has plenty of energy and always seems ready for the next adventure. She is also very protective of the people she loves. At the same time, Elsa is very obedient and well-behaved. She listens well and has a wonderful personality that makes her a great companion. Unfortunately, due to my increasingly busy schedule and work commitments, I can no longer give Elsa the time, attention, exercise, and companionship she deserves. This is a very difficult decision because Elsa has been part of our family since 2023, and we love her very much. My biggest priority now is finding Elsa a loving home where someone can give her the time and attention she deserves. She is a wonderful dog.

Story

Hello, my name is Edna, and I am a sweet girl with the most adorable heart shaped nose, and I am looking for a family to love. I am about a year old and weigh 42 pounds and the nice volunteers here at the rescue say I have the most beautiful brindle coloring and think I am gorgeous! I am a little timid and quiet by nature, but my gentle and low-key personality makes me the perfect companion for anyone seeking a calm and loving presence in their life. While I may be a bit fearful of new things, my curiosity and desire for affection always win me over. I just need a little time to adjust and feel safe. In a quieter, more predictable home, I know I can truly shine. I would love nothing more than to find someone who understands my sensitive soul and can offer me the patience and love I need to thrive. My ideal day involves plenty of cuddles, ear scratches and toys, they seem to really perk me up and bring out the sillies in me! I may not be the most outgoing pup, but I am loyal and affectionate, always seeking attention and closeness with my special person. If you're looking for a best friend who is a little more reserved and content with the simple pleasures in life, then I am the dog for you. I promise to bring a little extra love and warmth into your world. I will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with me being a little shy. I do need to be the only dog in the home for my sake, I just have zero interest in interacting with them. I honestly just try to avoid other dogs and look to you for security and to keep the other dog away. I really hope you want to come and meet me, I think you would just fall in love. If you are interested in Edna and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

***Deuce is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch.*** This handsome guy is about 8 years old and 90 pounds. Deuce is a typical large breed dog- slow moving, calm, and laid back with short playful bursts of energy. He loves people and other dogs. Deuce knows sit, down, high five, shake, wait, stay, off and leave it. He is fully house trained and is currently in foster with an older male and younger female dog. His favorite things to do include time with his people, hikes, car rides and playtime, especially with other dogs. Deuce needs a knowledgeable and active adopter who can keep him challenged and set limits. Deuce initially displayed some food guarding at the kennel. This is not apparent in his foster care. However, his adopter will need to continue working with him so that it does not resurface. He needs an adult only home. Deuce would love a fenced in yard to safely explore. If you are interested in Deuce and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and his foster mom will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story

How cute can one dogs ears be! Cinnamon is estimated to about a year old and weighs 40 pounds. Meet Cinnamon, a stunning girl who is dreaming of finding a forever family to love her. She is a curious, gentle thinker who takes a little time to trust. With patience and understanding, she will just blossom in her new home. Once she starts to trust you, she does the cutest thing and sneaks in quick licks to your ear, seeking your attention and affection. Cinnamon's journey to trust is an important part of her story, and she will thrive in a home where building that trust is a priority. She would prefer a quieter, more predictable type home with no children to match her timid personality. Cinnamon would love it if you came to meet her, she is such a nice pup who will reward your efforts with endless love, and she can't wait to have a family. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Cinnamon may like to meet them. Not good with cats,

Story

**If you are interested in adopting Yuki, please contact Caleb at caleb1594@gmail.com.** Meet Yuki 🐾 Yuki is a 3-year-old Husky who is, quite frankly, very good at being a Husky. He’s smart, energetic, athletic, and full of personality—and he’s looking for a home that understands what that really means. Yuki walks well on a leash and is house-broken. He’s crate trained, though he has occasionally demonstrated his impressive problem-solving skills by getting out of it. He has lots of energy and will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. He can jump fences, so a secure yard (or supervised outdoor time) is a must. He enjoys being groomed and doesn’t mind baths, loves to cuddle, and is a big fan of belly rubs. Yuki also gets car sick, so short trips or some patience will be needed there. Yuki should be the only pet in the home—he is definitely not cat-friendly, and his behavior around other dogs or children is currently unknown. Because of his breed traits and energy level, Yuki would do best with an experienced Husky owner or someone who is truly willing to put in the time, training, and commitment this breed requires. In short: Yuki isn’t “too much dog”—he’s just exactly the dog you’d expect when you adopt a Husky. If you’re ready for an active, clever, affectionate companion and understand that Huskies don’t come with an “off” switch, Yuki might be your perfect match. *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.
