Story
Meet Zooks! BEEN AT GLDR SINCE JANUARY! NEEDS A FOSTER! This two-year-old husky mix is 51-pounds fabulous fun! He always has an ear to ear grin and will make even the gloomiest day bright! Zooks is an affectionate fella that loves to be close! He a top-notch snuggler for sure! A fan of the outdoors and especially the snow, Zooks is ready for any adventure that comes his way! A fenced-in yard and lots of exercise is the key to keeping this bubbly boy active and engaged. As he's still a young man, he will benefit from continued training in his new home. We make sure our boy Zooks gets lots of time out in the fenced-in runs and he has a blast! He enjoys the company of his fellow kennel mates and would no doubt do wonderful with another fun-loving fur baby in his new home. However, he's also content to toss a ball around to himself in the yard to keep himself entertained. Hanging out with Zooks is a guaranteed great time! Some of our amazing volunteers took Zooks on a three mile hike and raved about how awesome he was. Good on a leash and in the car, Zooks is the perfect pal to join you while you hit the trail. He is very social and is up for meeting new friends both human and canine alike. Zooks enjoys pup cups and is always up for a nice ear-scratching! Based on evaluation, we feel Zooks will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live with other dogs as he does well with them here at the kennel. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you think Zooks is the dog of your dreams, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and get your application submitted for this charming pup!

Story
**In a foster home and not at the kennel** This handsome guy is about 6 years old and 70 pounds. Deuce had a DNA test completed. The results are in and he is a Siberian Husky and Boxer mix. We thought for sure some Akita would be in there but what do we know? Deuce is a typical large breed dog- slow moving, calm, and laid back with short playful bursts of energy. He loves people and other dogs. Deuce knows sit, down, high five, shake, wait, stay, off and leave it. He is fully house trained and is currently in foster with an older male and younger female dog. His favorite things to do include time with his people, hikes, car rides and playtime, especially with other dogs. Deuce needs a knowledgeable and active adopter who can keep him challenged and set limits. Deuce initially displayed some food guarding at the kennel. This is not apparent in his foster care. However, his adopter will need to continue working with him so that it does not resurface. He needs an adult only home. Deuce would love a fenced in yard to safely explore. *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story
Oggie is absolutely stunning! He is estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs 52 pounds. Here are a few nice facts about him: More of a quiet, gentle soul Well-mannered A little timid Very attentive to you Loves to lean in for attention Just melts into you Gentle release of toys and knows “drop” Knows sit Looking for comfort and guidance Needs confidence building May prefer a quieter home to match his personality Needs a home where any children are at least 8 years old, more for his sake with his shy, gentle nature If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Oggie would love to meet them. He has a nice, calm approach with other dogs, but does retreat behind his handler when there is too much energy going on. He looks to you for reassurance, we think a calmer dog would be better for him If you are interested in Oggie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
We adopted Eva when she was 3 months old and she is now seven and a half. She is very sweet, and will stay by your side. As she has become older her and our other dog are not getting along. She is house trained, kennel trained and can stay in her kennel up to 8 hours while you are at work. She loves going on walks. She knows basic commands. We do not want to rehome Eva but it is best for her to be in another home with no pets and older kids (maybe 10/12 and up since she’s getting older). She needs an enclosed yard but isn’t a runner anymore or fence jumper. We really, really love her and it is breaking our hearts to have to rehome her.

Story
Meet Waffles! Waffles is a sweet and loving young pup searching for her forever family! She’s looking for a home that will provide her with plenty of love, guidance, and patience as she grows into the amazing companion she’s meant to be. This playful girl adores toys, treats, and all the affection she gets from her foster family. Since she’s expected to be a large dog, her future family should be prepared for plenty of big cuddles and adventures! If you’re ready for a lifelong best friend, Waffles is waiting to meet you! Fill out an application, and her foster family will be in touch. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. March 25, 2025, 4:23 pm
