Story
Meet Loki, a striking black Pomsky with bright eyes and an even brighter spirit. At just about 10 months old, this handsome Pomeranian/Husky mix is everything you’d expect from a young northern breed blend—loving, playful, intelligent, and absolutely brimming with personality. Loki came to Animal Control when his most recent owner could no longer care for him, much like the owner before them. Through no fault of his own, he is now looking for the stable, committed home he truly deserves.Loki is affectionate and fun, always ready for a game, an adventure, or a cuddle after he’s had a good run. But let’s be clear—Pomskies are widely misunderstood. People often see the smaller size and assume they’re getting a “mini husky” that will be easy to manage. In reality, this dual-breed mix can grow to a healthy 30–40 pounds, especially when those strong Husky traits shine through. And with Husky heritage comes energy, intelligence, and a deep need for daily exercise and structured training. Loki will not thrive in an apartment or condo setting. He needs space to run, explore, and burn off that youthful enthusiasm—ideally in a home with a fully fenced yard and a family ready to embrace an active lifestyle. This boy requires more than love alone. He needs a younger, energetic household that can blend fun and adventure with consistent, regimented training. Structure will help him grow into the incredible companion he is meant to be. Without it, that clever Husky brain will find its own entertainment.Loki’s adoption fee is $200. He is up-to-date on all vaccines and preventative care and will be placed as foster-to-adopt until after his neuter appointment. If you are prepared to offer commitment, exercise, leadership, and a lifetime promise, Loki will reward you with unwavering loyalty, laughter, and a heart full of devotion. He’s not for everyone—but for the right family, he will be everything. Although great with other dogs, Loki will not be suited well for a home with cats.

Story
Meet Suede, a stunning 4-year-old red Husky male with a heart as big as his smile. Suede is a loving, playful, and dog-friendly companion who truly enjoys the company of people and other dogs. He is searching for his forever family—one that understands the unique needs of his breed and is ready to offer him the stability, structure, and love he deserves. Suede will thrive in a single-family home with a securely fenced privacy yard and, most importantly, a life lived indoors as a cherished member of the family.Suede’s ideal adopters will have extensive Husky experience and be committed to providing him with consistent exercise, mental stimulation, and positive guidance. He is an active and engaging boy who will flourish with adopters who appreciate the intelligence and energy Huskies are known for. Unfortunately, Suede has tested positive for Heartworm, and it is essential that his future family is willing and able to strictly follow the medication and activity-restriction regimen required for successful treatment. With dedication and patience, Suede can fully recover, complete his neuter appointment, and begin the next healthy chapter of his life. While Suede cannot join a home with cats, he does enjoy canine companionship. If there are other dogs in the household, a dog-to-dog meet and greet will be arranged to ensure everyone is a good fit. Suede is up to date on all vaccines and preventative care and is currently available through a foster-to-adopt arrangement while he completes his heartworm treatment and neuter. Would be best in a home with older children. His adoption fee has been SPONSORED by one of the wonderful friends of MCAC.Suede is ready to give his whole heart to a family willing to walk beside him through his recovery and beyond. In return, he promises loyalty, affection, and endless moments of joy as he settles into the forever home he has been waiting for.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lupin is a lovely pup with a lot of energy. He loves to run around the yard and loves going camping. He is good with adults and older children (10 and up) but not so much with younger kids. Lupin gets along with other dogs but only for a short period of time until he kicks into alpha mode and starts to push them around. He absolutely cannot be around cats. We love Lupin to death and wish we could keep him but we have been trying to acclimate him to our 2 year old son for the last 2 years and it just isn't working. It is in the best interest of ourselves and Lupin that we find him a forever home where he doesn't have to be separated from his family and can live freely amongst them. Please Contact Lupin's owner directly with the contact information below. Owner will be asking for a home visit meet and greet as well as rehoming fee. thekochuts@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.   Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. Story
Meet Noodles (a.k.a. Nancy)! Hello there! My name is Noodles, but when I get a little mischievous, you can call me Nancy! I was found as a stray in Detroit, and let’s just say it’s been quite a journey. When I first came into rescue, I was shutdown and didn’t know how to be a dog. I was scared of leashes and even of humans. But with lots of love and patience, I’ve come so far and am now ready to find my perfect family! We are unsure exactly how old I am and a lady never discloses that real information, but we're guessing I am around 6 years old. Also, a lady never says her weight, so let's just say I am less than a baby Rhino's weight . Another words, I'm perfectly imperfect.  I’ll be honest—sometimes I’m still a scaredy cat and fear my own shadow. But when I’m with my favorite humans, I shine ! It may take me some time to trust you, but I can assure you I am worth the wait! When you are my person, you are the love of my life. I am forever unconditionally yours. You will never have another loyal best friend like me.  I’m housebroken and sleep wherever I feel most comfortable—whether it’s curled up on the bed, snuggled on the floor, or snuggled in my own bed. Have you heard of Noodle sandwich? It's when my two favorite people are on each side of me giving me hugs and kisses! It's one of my absolute favorite lovins time.  While I rarely bark, I do let my humans know when it’s potty time or when I’m ready for some fun. The outdoors? Well, I’m not a big fan, to be honest. I’ll tell you when I’m ready to come back inside, thank you very much! An introverted home is my dream, and I would thrive with a family who understands my need for a quiet, calm environment. I’m not into exercise or long walks—what I really want is a cozy fenced yard where I can enjoy the fresh air while staying cool inside. I tend to get stressed around small children, so older humans or a quiet household without kids would be the best fit for me. Oh, and I prefer to be the only pet in the house—I really don’t like sharing attention! It's not that I am aggressive with other dogs. It's simple, I am an introvert and do not wish to socialize with other four-legged kind. Sadly, when I was found, the vet discovered I was heartworm positive. Thankfully, I have gone through heartworm treatment and am now ready to enjoy my life with a loving family. I’m looking for humans who appreciate the retirement lifestyle, those who want to relax at home, and perhaps not have a lot of company over. If you think you could be the perfect person to help me live my best life, I can’t wait to meet you!     DewormedHeartworm Survivor!Receiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayed ADOPTION FEE: SPONSORED IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Story
Shadow is a 5 year old male, neutered dog. I’ve had him since he was a puppy. Shadow is a sweet dog that loves to sleep by your feet on the bed. He loves being outside and in fact, would do best with someone who loves to be outside too. Before recently, we would go on long walks together. He doesn’t have much of a play drive besides being outside and running around (he doesn’t play with toys much). He does love a good chew bone. He’s gotten along with several cats we’ve had over the years and gets along with our small Boston Terrier. However, he does not seem to like other dogs in passing on walks and such. I’ve never taken him to a busy dog park so I’m unsure how he’d do there. He generally loves people. However, and this is why we are looking to rehome him, kids make him very nervous. Always have. And our LO is about 1 now (we’ve been trying to make it work this whole time) and it doesn’t seem fair to Shadow or the family to keep him. I’m running out of characters to type so ask Q’s!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
