Story
Meet Malachi, a 10 month old Malamute mix boy whose bright spirit shines through his tough beginnings. This handsome boy came to Animal Control when his former owner could no longer care for him, and despite that challenging start, Malachi has remained nothing but loving, gentle, and eager to bond. He’s steadily gaining weight and growing healthier each day, all while showing us just how sweet and affectionate he truly is.Because Malachi was previously left outdoors to find his own food, he’s still learning his manners and how to navigate life inside a home. His perfect adopters will be patient, intentional, and ready to guide him with consistency and love as he discovers his place in the world.Malachi will thrive in a single-family home with a fully enclosed privacy fence, giving him a safe space to play and explore. He will also need a younger, highly active household—one committed to daily movement and structure. Simply letting him into the backyard won’t be enough for this energetic boy; Malachi needs long, purposeful walks or runs to keep both his mind and body engaged.Because he is a Siberian Husky through and through, extensive breed experience is essential for his adopters. Malachi is wonderfully playful with other dogs, so if you already have canine companions, we will arrange a meet-and-greet here at Animal Control once your application is approved.Malachi is currently available as a foster-to-adopt candidate until his scheduled neuter appointment. His adoption fee is $225.As we aren`t sure of Malachi`s experience with cats, we recommend against a home with cats as the breed is typically highly prey-driven. However, as he is younger, you may be able to introduce him slowly with supervised introductions. If you’re ready for adventure, companionship, and the joy of helping a truly special dog bloom, Malachi is waiting to meet you.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $225

Story
Meet Creed, the four-legged rockstar ready to bring some serious “Can You Take Me Higher?” energy into your life. A Siberian Husky–German Shepherd mix with enough spirit, stamina, and charisma to headline his own world tour. This striking boy doesn’t just move, he commands the stage with every step, carrying the same bold energy that made the band Creed unforgettable. Equal parts powerhouse and heartthrob, he’s looking for a committed fan who can keep up with the hits. With the intelligence of a Shepherd and the electrifying drive of a Husky, Creed is not a dog for beginners—he’s for someone who knows how to guide a superstar. He craves an active lifestyle and thrives on adventure, whether he’s shredding through a game of fetch, taking long walks that feel like epic arena tours, or showing off his playful personality that keeps everyone chanting for more. This boy doesn’t do “low energy”—he lives life with the volume all the way up.Creed needs a dedicated, experienced owner who can give him structure, training, and lots of mental and physical stimulation to keep him performing at his best. In return, he’ll give you loyalty that runs deeper than any power ballad and companionship worthy of its own platinum record. If you’re ready for a dog who will lift your spirits, keep you moving, and turn your days into a highlight reel, Creed is ready to take the stage in your home. With him by your side, every moment feels like an encore. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $150

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lupin is a lovely pup with a lot of energy. He loves to run around the yard and loves going camping. He is good with adults and older children (10 and up) but not so much with younger kids. Lupin gets along with other dogs but only for a short period of time until he kicks into alpha mode and starts to push them around. He absolutely cannot be around cats. We love Lupin to death and wish we could keep him but we have been trying to acclimate him to our 2 year old son for the last 2 years and it just isn't working. It is in the best interest of ourselves and Lupin that we find him a forever home where he doesn't have to be separated from his family and can live freely amongst them. Please Contact Lupin's owner directly with the contact information below. Owner will be asking for a home visit meet and greet as well as rehoming fee. thekochuts@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.   Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.   Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.   MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.   If you would like to donate please send donation to: MMAR Box 180155 Utica, MI 48318   Donate online at https://www.sanilacscoopers.org/   Please email us at mmarpaws@gmail.com for additional information or to set up special appointments March 29, 2025, 6:47 am

Story
Nikita is a good boy, we have had some lifestyle changes that require us to be gone more than usual and cannot give him the playtime and attention he deserves. He would do better in a home without other dogs- but if you do have other dogs you would have to slowly introduce the two. He does great with kids, he loves to run so a backyard is a must!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
