Story
Hi, I`m Axle! I am a handsome young pup looking for my furever home. I was surrendered to the shelter because I was `too much` and the cats and older dog in my previous home were not adjusting well to my energy. I would love to have a canine pal to play with, as long as they are ready for a puppy! I do want to chase cats, so it may not be the best fit unless they are dog-savvy or kept separate. I am already crate trained but not fully housebroken quite yet. I am a very intelligent dog who needs both mental and physical enrichment. I can be a little shy at first, but I am a sweetheart who just wants to find a loving family to call my own. I hope to meet you soon!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My family dumped me at the shelter :(  I have no clue why.  I do everything I can to be the best dog ever.  I was REALLY scared and sad at the shelter so they sent me to this thing called a foster home and I did really good :)  No one came to adopt me and 2nd Chance said I could come live with them so now I live with my foster dad and my cat friend and life is good :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 12, 2025, 1:37 am

Story
Rubi is 8 years old (she’s always looked like an old lady). She is good with kids and selective with other dogs. The reason I am trying to rehome her is that she does not get along with our other dog. This has been an ongoing issue for 3 years and we’ve tried just about everything. She got along with our male dog before he passed away last year. She would do best in a home without other pets. Rubi is a German shepherd/husky mix and she is truly a great dog. She’s very lazy but does love to go for walks and loves to be outside (she will go hours outside unattended if you let her!) If you’re not in the mood to play she is a couch potato and very independent. She is house trained and does not need to be crated/doesn’t cause trouble or chew on things. She has an electric fence now and was easy to train on this. I do recommend a fence or electric fence due to her breed. She has never tried to leave the electric fence and truly we have no issues with her.

Dakota is a goofy, friendly and energetic Malamute with lots of love to offer! She enjoys the outdoors and playing fetch with her owners! She has been sent to a training school at State Line Canine for a 4 week program that has a lifetime guarantee! This means you are able to take her back for additional refresher days. Dakota would fit well with an owner who loves adventure & the outdoors. She is a smart cookie and learns very fast. She is house trained and knows plenty of commands. She is super friendly with humans and is excited to get to know you and your family!
