You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My family dumped me at the shelter :(  I have no clue why.  I do everything I can to be the best dog ever.  I was REALLY scared and sad at the shelter so they sent me to this thing called a foster home and I did really good :)  No one came to adopt me and 2nd Chance said I could come live with them so now I live with my foster dad and my cat friend and life is good :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 12, 2025, 1:37 am

Story
Meet Buddy:  Buddy is a friendly Husky mix that is 1 year old and weighs around 68 lbs. Buddy was found as a stray in a subdivision going from house to house looking for someone to help him. Buddy is very friendly and loves people. We are working with him on jumping up and hugging you, walking on a leash and counter surfing. Buddy is very playful and loves to play with lots of toys or grab a rug/robe and run in the yard with it. He is crate trained and has not had one accident in the home. He gets along with other dogs and because he plays hard we would recommend no small dogs. Buddy definitely needs a fenced in yard and a family that is very active. Buddy is up to date on all his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adopting the sweet boy, please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application  ##2367372##

Story
Rubi is 8 years old (she’s always looked like an old lady). She is good with kids and selective with other dogs. The reason I am trying to rehome her is that she does not get along with our other dog. This has been an ongoing issue for 3 years and we’ve tried just about everything. She got along with our male dog before he passed away last year. She would do best in a home without other pets. Rubi is a German shepherd/husky mix and she is truly a great dog. She’s very lazy but does love to go for walks and loves to be outside (she will go hours outside unattended if you let her!) If you’re not in the mood to play she is a couch potato and very independent. She is house trained and does not need to be crated/doesn’t cause trouble or chew on things. She has an electric fence now and was easy to train on this. I do recommend a fence or electric fence due to her breed. She has never tried to leave the electric fence and truly we have no issues with her.

Story
Winter’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was found in November, darting in and out of traffic between two restaurants in search of food, scared and unsure of people. But once she was safe, her true personality shined! Now, Winter is the most affectionate pup you’ll ever meet—she craves attention, wants all the pets, loves being played with, and enjoys going for walks. She is a medium sized girl with shorter legs, she weighs approximately 35 lbs. Although she is more of a dominant dog, she has been great with both dogs and cats, making her a wonderful companion for a multi-pet household. However, due to past trauma, Winter cannot be crated, as it causes extreme distress and destructive behavior. She is still working on her potty training which does require patience and consistency due to not being able to crate train. Winter would thrive in a home with someone who can spend quality time with her every day, take her on regular walks, and provide the exercise she needs—especially given her husky tendencies. An adopter with experience in husky or corgi breeds would be ideal to help her flourish in the right environment. Winter has so much love to give—she just needs the perfect home that will give her the life she deserves. Winter is completing heartworm treatment, she will be ready to go home at the end of April!

Story
Hi, I’m Mom Lilo and here’s my story:   I was sit’n at the shelter, very pregnant, wondering how I was gonna get myself out of the mess I was in.  My future was doom and gloom with no one to care about me and my soon to be born babies. You see I ended up in the “family way” through no fault of my own.  My previous mom didn’t really care about me and allowed me to run loose ALL the time “unspayed”.  Then when I ended up pregnant at a shelter, she decided not to reclaim me.  So there I was …an unwed mother to be, with no baby daddy, no palimony, no child support and no family.  What’s a poor girl supposed to do with no options in a shelter on “code red ”?  It just wasn’t looking good for me.   Molly’s was contacted about me and upon learning of my predicament said I could go live with them.  JUST in the nick of time as 5 days after arriving, I gave birth to 5 beautiful babies.  3 boys/2 girls.   My teeth are pearly white so I’m young.  With my bright, blue eyes, I’m probably some kind of Husky mix, maybe a  maybe a Pomeranian (Pomsky), Heeler (Ausky), or Border Collie (Bosky)???   Fast forward to the present.  Me and my babies are now ready for homes of our own.  I’m very friendly and I love people and other dogs of all sizes. I’m a youngster myself and still have lots to learn, but I’m willing to try if you are.  If you’re interested in a beautiful, blue eyed girl like me, I’m ready and waiting for you.
