Story
Meet Uncle Buck, a lively terrier with boundless energy and a heart of gold. At 15 pounds, he may be small in stature, but he makes up for it with his big personality. Now, let's address the elephant in the room—Uncle Buck's enthusiasm is off the charts! He's what you might call "OMG" levels of energetic, and he's not afraid to show it. His excitement sometimes manifests in mouthiness and jumping. In fact, he once managed to snag a handful of bangs during a particularly exuberant greeting. But hey, at least he's consistent—whether it's grabbing hair or jumping up for attention, Uncle Buck is always ready to make an entrance. Uncle Buck is a bit of a resource guarder when it comes to his bones, but he's not unreasonable about it. A little growl here, a strategic relocation there—it's all part of his process. However, it's worth noting that this behavior might not be suitable for households with young children who might not understand his boundaries. Despite his quirks, Uncle Buck is a charmer through and through. He's incredibly intelligent and loves nothing more than being around people. With a little patience and some consistent training, he's sure to pick up manners in no time. Plus, his impeccable bite inhibition means that while his antics may leave a mark (or a few bruises), they're more likely to result in scratches than anything else. In essence, Uncle Buck is a spirited terrier with a heart as big as his personality. He may demand attention with barks and snaps, but beneath it all, he's just a pup looking for love and companionship. So, if you're ready for a lively companion who will keep you on your toes (literally), then Uncle Buck might just be the perfect match for you. ##2014773##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus tax Meet Melo with the wagging tail that never seems to stop.  Melo is a playful dog who loves to run, play and explore. He is incredibly friendly and affectionate with people. He loves to look out the window and watch TV. Although he can get pretty excited when he spots a squirrel or his favorite team scores. He is reliably housetrained and enjoy’s sleeping in bed with you or in his kennel. Melo would do well in a home with a yard where he can run and play. Melo would do best in a home with no other animals.Kids are great but he will want to play with them and may jump up on or knock them over in excitement. We do not know how Melo is with cats.  **Melo has a condition called hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) which is when the adrenal glands do not function properly. The adrenal glands produce numerous important hormones that help to regulate the body. With Addison's disease the adrenal glands do not make enough hormone to properly regulate the body so supplementation is necessary. There is no cure for Addison's disease but it can be well managed with twice daily oral medication and a monthly injection. Recheck bloodwork every 6-12 months will also be required to make sure he remains on the correct medication dose. Cost for the medication is about $50-60 per month. When well-managed with medication Melo can still live a happy and healthy life with a normal expected lifespan. *Melo has had only one crisis and that was when he was first diagnosed. He has had no signs of sickness since being on his meds.***       Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION by clicking on the button below. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, I’m Rubia. I’m new to Minnesota and still adjusting. I’m a little skittish as I settle in, so patience and love are what I need right now. My foster family will update once we’ve gotten to know each other better. If you are looking for a sweet pup to show what a loving safe home looks like, submit your application today! Rubia is from Texas. One big thing you should know is I am  heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting me! After I undergo treatment for my condition I will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because I need treatment, I am available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you'd like to donate towards this pet's care, you can donate to our Animal Care Fund. Our Animal Care Fund supports the medical and veterinary needs for all Ruff Start Rescue animals. You'll be able to enter this pet's name on the second page of the donation form.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 26, 2024, 10:38 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Sheridan! When Sheridan found her way into the rescue she was thin and emaciated. She has been settling into her Texas foster home and receiving some much-needed TLC! One thing you'll quickly notice about Sheridan is her intense love for food. She's so eager to eat that she inhales her meals in record time. To help her slow down and enjoy her food more, her Texas foster parent uses a special dog bowl designed to help dogs slow down when they eat and separates her from other during feeding time. Recently, Sheridan's foster parent discovered that she's very fearful of storms. The loud thunder sent her into a panic, causing her to break out of her crate in search of safety and comfort. Now that this is known, there are many ways to help her feel more safe and comfortable during storms, including something called a thundershirt!  Sheridan has many favorite parts of the day. As mentioned, Mealtime is definitely at the top of her list, she also enjoy sitting in her loved ones laps, playing with toys and she enjoys having the freedom of using the doggie door to go in and out as she pleases. While she will go into her kennel, she would much prefer to be out and about in the house, hanging out with her humans! Sheridan has some quirks that make her unique like the funny moaning sounds she makes. She is only 1 year old and still has some puppy tendencies that require patience and supervision. She's prone to chewing on things if left unsupervised, and her intense focus on food means she'll dig in the trash or counter surf if given the chance. Sheridan has not been introduced to children or cats. Sheridan is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. First and foremost, Copper is very loving and wants so much love and attention! She is one of the cuddliest dogs I have ever met.    Although she is listed as 1 1/2 years, she acts very much like a puppy. She actually had some pups of her own last October (way too young!!! AND she had 10 puppies!). The family that took her in when she was pregnant and watched her and the puppies until the puppies could be adopted said she was an incredibly attentive and caring mother but she was definitely ready to be her own dog by the end. I don't think she had a lot of time to be a puppy when she was younger so she is making up for it now.   She loves to play, go on walks etc.    She is smart and loves to learn!  She soaks up attention and wants to make her humans happy!  Right now due to her energy and needing some training we think a home without young kids is best.    If you have an active home and are looking for a dog that will go on adventures with you and then snuggle you at night, Copper is your gal!   Copper is an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application.
