Story
This beautiful girls name is Hilda and she is a 3 year old Lab- Pyrenees mix who weighs about 75 lbs. Hilda had a rough start to life, she was abandoned on a farm down South and gave birth to her puppies under a chicken coop. From poor nutrition Hilda's front legs are deformed. She can still walk and does a great job getting around, even jumps up on the couch for some love. Hilda is nervous with new people at first, it does take her a bit to warm, but who can blame her after all she has been through. She sleeps under her foster mom's desk during the day, that has become her safe space. A fenced in yard would be best for Hilda, so she has somewhere safe to be outside if she gets scared, she cannot run off. Once she trusts you its kisses and snuggles going forward. If you feel you may be the right fit for Hilda and can give her all the love she deserves, fill out an application she would love to meet you. I included a few before pictures so you can see just how far she has come. Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require that the dogs be present at the meeting to make sure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption. If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and we will gladly consider your family for another dog. Story
Meet Adele! Adele is a 12–14-week-old Shepherd mix with the sweetest personality and a heart full of love. At around 20 pounds already, this beautiful girl will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized companion. Adele's favorite things in life include belly rubs, playing with her K9 foster siblings, carrying toys around the house, and happily chewing on her favorite chew sticks. One of her cutest habits is proudly trotting around with a plushie in her mouth wherever she goes. It's impossible not to smile when you see her! This affectionate pup loves people and is always ready for cuddles after a good play session. She's doing a great job with potty training, walks nicely on a leash, and is already learning basic manners like "sit." At bedtime, Adele settles in and sleeps quietly through the night like a champ. With her gentle nature, playful spirit, and eagerness to learn, Adele is the perfect mix of fun and sweetness. She's ready to find a family who will give her plenty of love, belly rubs, and a few plushies to carry around. Could Adele be the missing piece your family has been looking for? Hi, I’m Magnolia but I’m already also responding to “Maggie”. I’m 14 weeks old and I’m sweet as pie. I am learning to potty outside and sleeping peacefully in my crate all night long. I’m great with other dogs, i love all people, and I’ve even learned to sit on command already! Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. Story
Meet Kobe! Born in early January, this 25-pound cutie is a gentle soul who is blooming more and more every day. Kobe is a bit shy indoors at first—we think he is experiencing the comfort of a home for the very first time. While indoor life is still a little new and spooky, his true, carefree personality shines the moment his paws hit the backyard grass! Outside, he is pure joy, playful, and full of puppy fun. Kobe is currently learning the ropes from our amazing dogs. He is a total shadow who follows them everywhere to learn how to be a confident pup. Kobe also absolutely LOVES cats! He is a remarkably sweet boy who truly wants to trust and love. He has already made massive strides in a short time. Kobe just needs a patient family willing to give him the time and space to adjust at his own pace. Kobe will thrive in a home with at least one social, confident pup in the home. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 22, 2026, 6:47 pm
