Bruno is a MIRACLE Boxer/Lab mix born around 04/12/2024 and weighing about 43 pounds — and he’s every bit as joyful and full of life as his wagging tail suggests! This sweet, goofy boy came into rescue against the odds, and thanks to the dedication of Ruby Whiskers Rescue, he’s now thriving and ready for his forever home!
At just over a year old, Bruno is a medium-sized, high-energy pup who is absolutely FULL of love, personality, and playfulness! He adores other dogs and would thrive in a home with another energetic canine friend to wrestle, chase, and burn off puppy energy with. A fenced-in yard would be a dream come true for Bruno — he loves to run, zoom, and stretch his legs during playtime!
Bruno is a total goofball who enjoys toys, chew bones, and a good game of indoor fetch. He does not chew on furniture or shoes; however, he may pick up items like remotes or accessible hard objects such as water bottles or harder plastics if they’re left within reach. Keeping these items picked up or placed higher solves the issue easily. He’s been doing great being left alone for about an hour without searching for these items, and his foster is slowly giving him more freedom by leaving his crate open when she’s gone and during bedtime. He remains fully potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps comfortably through the night in his roomy setup.
This happy boy loves people and greets everyone with enthusiasm! Like many young dogs, he’s still polishing his manners — he may jump up to say hello and can be a little mouthy during play. His foster has been working with him consistently, and he’s improving every day. Bruno responds well to positive reinforcement and would shine in a basic obedience class, as he’s smart and eager to learn.
On walks, Bruno can pull a bit and does best with a harness, but he’s non-reactive to people and other dogs. He rides calmly in the car when crated, does great for baths and blow-drying (he even tries to chew the air from the dryer!), and has no food, toy, or water aggression toward people or other dogs. He free-feeds throughout the day and may occasionally try to sneak treats from his foster sister — because treats are life!
Bruno’s ideal home is an active family who can provide exercise, structure, and lots of love. A home with another playful dog and older children would be perfect, as his enthusiasm may be a bit much for toddlers. He’s vocal when he wants to play or go outside, but never excessively so. He does take a simple, inexpensive medication once daily to keep him comfortable and active.
Bruno isn’t defined by his past — he’s defined by his resilience, joy, and enormous heart. He’s affectionate, silly, and endlessly loving, and he’s ready to bring laughter and companionship to a lucky family. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a playful spirit and a whole lot of love to give, Bruno is your guy!
