Meet Cupcake! This gorgeous girl came to us from local animal control after a long, rough, confusing start to life. Cupcake is a typical young pup: full of energy and very curious. She is a very active and energetic dog. Cupcake is likely a lab/pit/shepherd mix, weighing in just under 60lbs. She is around 1 year old. She needs a home that will work with her through her puppy-type behavior and training, so she becomes a well-mannered, 100% adorable adult! Plus, how can you not love those huge ears! Cupcake would be best placed in a home without cats.

Meet Gabe! He is nearing his 3rd birthday and would love to celebrate this milestone with a new family!! We are not certain why there has been no interest in him. Gabe is a really sweet boy who loves to play, be around people, and also enjoys a comfy place to practice his couch potato skills! He enjoys being with the other dogs in his foster home (both large and small!). He was a favorite among the shelter workers. AND he enjoys hanging with human sisters in his foster home. We would love to see him find his forever home! We know whoever decides to give him a chance will not be disappointed! Gabe’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application at digsk9.org. If you have questions, please email digsk9@gmail.com. Please note that we are unable to hold dogs for any reason including moves and vacations. Once approved for adoption we require the adopter to complete the adoption and take ownership of their new companion. **We do our best to accurately represent the breeds of each pet. However, the breeds listed have not been verified via a DNA test. They are chosen based on the appearance and characteristics of the pet at the time of listing.

Story
Sassy is a sweet 3-5 year old lab mix (vet estimates on the younger end). She’s a big girl at 73lbs, but thinks she is the size of a lap dog. Sassy loves her foster family and will push herself up against them or flip up their hand so they will pet her. She can be fearful of new people and is selective as to whom she trusts. She will require a patient adopter and will do best in a quieter environment without a lot of new people coming in and out. Sassy loves being outside and will sit by your side for hours. She is friendly with the resident dogs, but seems to prefer her foster family to the other dogs. She is doing well walking on a leash and likes to keep by your side. Sassy will be a loyal companion for years to come if you give her a chance The adoption fee of $250  will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
Hi! I am Gretchen, a 30 lb yellow lab mix tripod who is around 4 years old. I am super sweet, affectionate and love to give kisses. I'm pretty low-key and love having people around me. Even though I had my left hind leg amputated it hasn't stopped me from wanting to chase after squirrels and rabbits. I love playing with older kids (5 years or older). I don't really like large dogs because I'm a bit intimidated by them therefore prefer smaller dogs. I would also love a fenced in yard so I can run and chase squirrels and rabbits. I have a gentle spirit and playful nature. I am looking for my forever home with humans that will show me lots of love and affection. THE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS adoption fee is just $99! This will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Cats unknown. Meet Respect, the most endearing puppy with a knack for comedic mischief. Once upon a time, Respect, in his relentless pursuit of a squirrel, ended up stuck in the city's tallest oak tree. The squirrel, probably amused, watched as the fire department arrived to rescue our hero. The firemen, laughing at the absurdity, brought him to the shelter, dubbing him 'Respect' for his brave, albeit misguided, adventure. Respect is a bundle of joy, a loyal companion and a goofy playmate. His curiosity and intelligence make every day an adventure. His gentleness and friendliness make him a perfect family pet. Adopt Respect, because every home deserves a hero who can make them laugh. Respect's adoption fee is $450 which includes being fully vetted, neutered, microchipped and fecal exam. Note: All dogs require a $100 cash training deposit. Once confirmation of the completion of a training class has been sent to the rescue, you will receive your deposit back in full.
