Story
Meet Scooby, an eight month old Labrador/Husky mix available for adoption. Scooby was surrendered to our facility as the owner had too many animals and needed assistance. When Scooby first came in, he greeted us with his wiggly butt and warm personality. He didn`t have a care in the world and was so excited to meet news faces from other dogs to staff/volunteers. He recently was part of parade we attended and he was the star of the show! He loved meeting all the kids and soaked in all the attention and pets. He`s an awesome pet that will make his future family happy! His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Contact our office for adoption details at 815-725-0333. Located in Joliet, IL

Calling All Dog-Loving Women — Ryker’s Ready to Steal Your Heart 💘 Ryker is a unique and lovable guy with a strong preference for the ladies—men make him anxious, so he is looking for a calm, female-only home where he can truly thrive. He enjoys the company of smaller dogs, though he’s selective and prefers to be the bigger spoon. Ryker is house-trained, crate-comfortable, and eager to build a strong bond with the right adopter. His forever home will be one where he can be both the emotional support dog and the main character. Ideal Home: • Female-only residents • No children • Possibly one small dog companion • Patient adopter with a sense of humor and big heart If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts snuggler and style icon, Ryker is your guy—as long as you’re a gal. Story
This is Luna she’s 5 years old and the sweetest little companion to have. She loves to play ball and adores her bath time. I would say shes energetic and would fit best in a home with a family who is able to give her undivided attention. Especially a household with older kids. She loves to be around people and can get anxious when shes by herself but other than that she’s pretty well behaved. She’s grown up with two cats her entire life and they get along great. Overall she’s a family dog through and through and thrives off of being the center of attention. good with smaller dogs and kids. Highly recommend her going to a home where she can be attended to and or a household with other dogs to keep her company.

Story
Meet our sweet boy Jake, he is about 4 months old lab/pit mix. He joined our rescue about 1.5 weeks ago with his sibling Scout. Jake is settling in nicely and is getting along with all dogs he has met, he currently is being fostered with 2 adult male labs Leo and Cash ❤️. He loves to play and has your typical puppy energy. He is more submissive and will take correction from the other dogs. We are working on his basic puppy manners and is doing well with sit and is mostly housebroken. He goes in the crate using a treat and sleeps all night. He will cry at first but settles. He does eat fast, so he does have a slow feeder and his foster dad is working on that with him, as he gets food regularly we shoild see change. If you are looking for a fun pup, one that will make you laugh, look no further. He likes to grab things and run, he makes sure to let you see him, lol. He does great with giving things back when asked. We are working on leash training, as he does like to pull with excitement, he gets daily walks and will improve. He is such a smart pup. Jake will need continued puppy training with his new family. He has most of his vetting completed and will go back into the vet the week of October 6th. He had some hair loss by his ear and nose, we had a skin scrape completed and has non contagious mange, he has had 2 doses of meds and has 1 more and then recheck. If interested in meeting him, please go to our website and fill out our Online application. Www.atailof4paws.org

Story
Waffles is a 7-month-old Husky/Terrier mix weighing about 27 lbs — and he’s just as sweet as his name suggests! This handsome boy is full of energy and joy, and he’s looking for an active family who can keep up with his playful spirit. Waffles loves to play with other dogs and would thrive with a canine buddy. He hasn’t been tested with cats. He’s also great with kids, though he’s still working on keeping all four paws on the ground when he gets excited (we redirect him with an “off” and help guide his legs down). He’s crate-trained — he sleeps through the night in his crate (from about 10:30 pm to 6 am) and settles nicely when left alone. Potty training is still a work in progress, but with consistency and patience, he’ll catch on quickly. Walks are one of Waffles’ favorite things! He’s a strong puller, so a harness helps, and he’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely burn off his energy. Above all, Waffles loves attention and companionship. He’ll bring a lot of fun, love, and laughter to a family who can give him the activity and training he needs as he grows. Could Waffles be the missing piece in your family?   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
This 9-month-old, 30 lb Lab/Terrier mix is equal parts spunky and sweet, and she's on the lookout for her forever family! Mary is a playful pup who absolutely loves romping around with the resident dog in her foster home. She plays hard, wrestles joyfully, and is always up for a game of tug or a shared snuggle. She gets along great with other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine sibling who can match her energy and help her learn the ropes. She's also house-trained and crate-trained, though she does have some crate-related quirks. Mary tends to get protective of her space and isn’t a fan of people approaching her crate unless it’s time to let her out. Outside of the crate, she’s been social, loving, and well-mannered around both adults and kids (ages 10 and up). Mary is still a young pup, so she’s working on her manners—like keeping all four paws on the floor when greeting people and learning not to “surf” the table for snacks. She knows “sit,” comes when called (most of the time!), and is starting to follow her foster brother’s lead in ringing the bells to go outside… though sometimes it’s just a clever way to distract him and sneak a toy. She may bark for a few seconds when new people arrive—but she’s a smart girl, and her foster family is working on building her confidence through training and consistency. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and clever young dog to grow and learn with, Mary could be the perfect match! She’ll do best in a home that’s ready to continue her training, offers some structure, and ideally has a friendly dog to play with. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!
