Story
*REAR PARALYZED* Sweet Pea came to us from Arkansas where her family had surrendered her as a young puppy saying the mom dog stepped on her. Based on x-rays Sweet Pea has a spinal deformity that our vet believes was a genetic issue and not one due to trauma. She is rear paralyzed, but loves her cart! She does not know when she needs or is going potty. We do express her several times a day to keep her comfortable, clean, and dry. She does wear a diaper when she is not in her crate. She gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. She absolutely loves all people and has never met a stranger. We did a DNA test on her and her main breed came back as American Pit Bull Terrier, although we were told the mom was some kind of shepherd mix. She is petite - only about 35 lbs and not super stocky. Sweet Pea was guessed to be born in April of 2022, so she is still young. She loves to play with the other dogs and has a good energy. Sweet Pea's adoption donation has been waived to a qualified home. She will come with her special crate, wheelchair, and harness. Application, reference checks, and home visit required. For more information on adopting, please email us at info@perfectpooches.org. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (age appropriate), fecal tested and/or dewormed, and microchipped.

Story
Meet LunaLuna is a 3-month-old puppy with the sweetest personality! She is a wonderfully calm and quiet little girl, but don't let that fool you—she also has an adventurous side and loves to explore and play.Luna is a bit of a gentle observer when it comes to play. She likes for you to initiate the fun, but once playtime starts, she is all in! Afterward, she's more than happy to roll over for some cuddles and belly rubs. She absolutely loves being loved on.Luna's PersonalityLuna is an adventurous cuddler with a medium energy level. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and discovering new things, but she also knows how to relax. She loves:Crinkle and squeaky toysChew toysSoft treats and Beggin' StripsLittle pieces of chickenRolling around and playing outsideLearning to play fetchCuddling and getting petsShe especially loves rolling onto her back for attention and belly rubs. If her foster family is in the kitchen, Luna likes to come over and check in—she loves being near her people and being part of whatever is happening.Home LifeLuna is pretty easygoing when it comes to her surroundings. She is comfortable with both noise and quiet and enjoys having people around. She would do well in a home where she can safely explore and have opportunities for play and enrichment. Because she is still a young puppy and has not started going on neighborhood walks yet due to needing additional vaccines, her exercise and exploration currently happen at home.TrainingLuna is doing very well for such a young puppy! She is mostly house trained, although she can still have an occasional accident, particularly when she gets very excited after playing. Her foster family is continuing to work with her as she learns to recognize and communicate when she needs to go outside.Luna is also crate trained. She has made great progress with being left in her crate. During her first week, she had an accident when her foster family left for church. The following week, they left her with water, appropriate chew treats, and a toy—and she did wonderfully with no accident! She is learning:SitStayCalmNo biteLuna may initially protest when crated while her family is nearby, such as during mealtime. With gentle reminders to "calm," she settles down and adjusts. She has shown no food or toy resource guarding.Meeting New PeopleLuna is curious and excited when meeting new people. Her first instinct is to investigate and play! She has also been comfortable in new spaces and has adjusted well to her foster environment.Other AnimalsLuna has not yet had direct interaction with dogs outside of her littermates because she is still waiting to be fully vaccinated. With her littermates, she is great and playful. She has not lived with cats. She has seen a neighbor's cat through the fence and simply noticed it without having a reaction.Luna & KidsLuna is wonderful with children! She currently interacts with children ages 3, 5, and 10. She especially enjoys spending time with the 10-year-old, who sleeps in the same room while Luna is crated. Luna loves hanging out with the kids and being part of the family.HealthLuna is not yet spayed. Her spay is expected to be scheduled for November.Luna's Perfect FamilyLuna would love a family who will continue helping her grow into the wonderful dog she is already becoming. She needs a family willing to continue working on house training, basic commands, puppy manners, and socialization as she becomes old enough to safely explore the world. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle puppy who loves to explore, play, and then curl up for cuddles, Luna could be the perfect addition to your family. She's got a little bit of adventure, a little bit of playfulness, and a whole lot of love to give. Story
Meet River! Your Adventure Buddy with a Heart of Gold! River is a 1 1/2-year-old, fun-loving boy who is ready to find the family he's been waiting for. He's affectionate, intelligent, and full of personality. He loves to play with other dogs, enjoys being with his people, and settles in nicely after his exercise and playtime.River is potty trained; crate trained and walks well on a leash. He's eager to learn and thrives with consistency, structure, and positive reinforcement. He's a smart young dog who truly enjoys having a job to do.River has already had an evaluation with a professional trainer, who was impressed with his intelligence and willingness to learn. He was attentive, engaged, and responded very well to the training. Because River is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, he isn't able to participate in group training just yet, but once he's medically cleared, Woof Animal Rescue will cover the cost of his professional training classes to help him continue building confidence and manners.River is currently living in a boarding foster home with two high school-aged children and other dogs, where he has done very well. He enjoys having canine companions and would love a home with another playful dog. Because River is still a young, energetic dog who can become mouthy during play, we recommend a home with older, dog-savvy children rather than young children.Like many adolescent dogs, River can become overly excited and, at times, may jump or become mouthy when he's overstimulated. This is something were actively working on, and he has already shown how capable he is of learning better ways to channel his excitement. He is looking for a family that will continue providing the consistency and guidance every young dog needs.River is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, and Woof Animal Rescue will cover the cost of completing his treatment.River would love:A playful dog companionA securely fenced yard where he can run and playAn active family committed to continuing his training and helping him succeedA home without catsRiver has so much love to give and all the potential in the world. He's goofy, loyal, affectionate, and eager to please. With a family willing to invest a little time and consistency, River will make an incredible lifelong companion. If you're interested in meeting, please fill out the application below!https://www.woofanimalrescue.org/adoptThis dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Story
Meet MollyMolly is a 3 month -old Lab mix weighing about 20 pounds, and she is seriously cute! With her beautiful black coat and adorable white chest, she’s hard to resist. But it’s her fun personality that will really steal your heart.Molly is a curious, adventurous puppy who wants to explore everything around her. She has mid-to-high puppy energy and does best when she has plenty of opportunities for both physical exercise and mental stimulation. She loves going for walks, exploring new places, playing fetch, and working on treats that take a little time to enjoy. And when she's gotten her puppy energy out? Molly is happy to settle down and become a couch potato, especially in the afternoon and evening. She also has a very important favorite treat: Dunkin' pup cups!Molly's PersonalityMolly is a happy, outgoing girl who absolutely loves people. She gets very excited when meeting someone new and is convinced that everyone she meets is her new best friend. She is amazing with children and currently lives with children ages 7, 5, and 1½, as well as other animals. She absolutely adores kids and has been wonderful with them.Molly lives with cats and does well with them. She may occasionally try to chase them because she thinks they would make fun playmates, so she will need continued supervision and guidance around cats. She has not yet been able to meet other dogs because she is not fully vaccinated. When she hears another dog barking while she's outside, however, she simply watches and investigates without showing a negative reaction.TrainingMolly is doing a great job for such a young puppy! She is not completely housebroken yet, which is completely normal for a 12-week-old puppy. However, she is already learning how to communicate her needs and will scratch at the front door when she needs to go outside.Molly is also doing excellent with crate training. She sleeps peacefully in her covered crate from approximately 10 PM to 7 AM and has had no overnight accidents.During the day, she may bark when first crated, but she eventually settles down. Because she is still young and has a puppy chewing habit, she will need to continue being crated when unsupervised until she is older and has learned appropriate chewing habits. She is currently learning sit, stay, and "let's go potty."Molly walks nicely on leash, although once she gets tired, she may decide she has walked enough, lie down, and refuse to go any farther! She's still learning and building her puppy stamina. There has been no resource guarding observed.Life With MollyMolly would love an active family who wants to include her in their adventures. She would especially benefit from a secure fenced yard where she can safely run and play. Her foster home does not have a fenced yard, and Molly is always ready to run a little farther! A family that enjoys walks, outings, exploring, and keeping a young dog mentally stimulated would be a wonderful match for her.Molly has shown no signs of separation anxiety. She is generally calm when left alone, although she has not yet been left crated by herself for longer than about two hours. She can be slightly nervous when entering a new environment, but she adjusts quickly. She settled into her foster home within just a few days.Molly's Ideal HomeMolly is looking for a family who understands that puppies require patience, training, supervision, exercise, and lots of love. She would thrive with people who will continue working on her house training, basic commands, leash skills, and appropriate chewing.A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus, but what Molly really needs is a family ready to make her part of their lives. If you're looking for a sweet, silly, adventurous puppy who loves kids, enjoys exploring, and is perfectly happy to snuggle on the couch after a busy day, Molly could be your girl! ❤️🐾Molly is currently not spayed. Her spay appointment is scheduled for November.href="https://www.woofanimalrescue.org/adopt">https://www.woofanimalrescue.org/adoptThis dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Story
The word "PERFECT" according to Webster dictionary - A state of being completely without fault, finished or fully satisfying all requirements OR more simply "Chevy Lynn"!! (affectionately called Buttercup by her foster family) If you are looking for a dog that will steal your heart and fit into your family with ease - this special girl is for you!!!!! She is a 3 yr old 70 lb lab mix lady.  Potty trained - not one accident since she's been in my care Gets along with Cats, Dogs and Humans of all sizes Takes a treat like she's being handed the most fragile treasure Champion sunbather Not a big barker Knows sit and shake (working on speak) Easy to walk Takes new direction and catches on quickly Will go in crate with special treat encouragement - she isn't a big fan of the crate but I've found she can be trusted and really doesn't need to be crated No food issues - or food aggression Expert snuggler Medium to low energy Not anxious Chevy Lynn does need to lose a bit of weight - but with her diet plan and daily walks - the weight should come off easily.   I can't say enough about how wonderful this sweet, smushy girl is.  The family that adopts Chevy Lynn is truly Lucky!!!!   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 22, 2026, 11:00 pm
