Story
Hello, my name is Hudson, and I am a 6-year-old lab mix. Im heavier than youd think for my height and lean look, at 67 lbs. I'm a handsome, dark chocolate color with some white on my chest. My foster mom says I was probably someone's pet, since I am neutered and someone clipped my tail and I am good on a leash & know words like sit and treat, I somehow became a stray. Without a chip, my owners had little hope of finding me. Unfortunately, the shelter in Kentucky who found me was super full and didnt give me a lot of time. After only 10 days, I was on the euthanasia list, and thats when TAR rescued me. I am a relaxed, mellow, sweet and loving guy. I love humans and will rub up against you and ask for pets even when you first meet me. My favorite place to be is anywhere you are Ill lay at your feet while you work on the computer. Ill watch you as youre folding laundry or doing chores. As long as youre near me, and Im not locked away in one room alone, Im happy. I love to snuggle on the couch with my chin in your lap, though Im also happy laying on the floor at your feet. Also, I take treats SO gently! I'm generally not very into toys. Oh, and if youre going out, I really like car rides. I just hop right in and Im really good and quite in the car, so maybe just take me with you if youre going out! I am very friendly to humans and greet every person I meet on a walk with a wiggle-butt, wagging stub (tail). I am very trusting and let human touch my anywhere except my paws. I also like kids. My current foster home has teens, and I am great with them. Ive had some gentle and friendly interactions with young kids, but because of my size, TAR is recommending that kids in my new home be at least 6. I'm a quiet boy in the house, but when I do bark, that bark is Loud! So, Im a good deterrent, but shared wall living like an apartment or condo is not for me. A single-family home is best for me. I'm house trained and I will give out little whines and nudge you or even act playful if I have to go outside. I walk nicely on a leash most of the time. When other dogs bark at me through a fence or across the street during a walk, I dont bark back. My crate is my safe space and I go in there willingly to eat treats and at bedtime. I dont NEED a crate, I just like it, especially at first when my surroundings are new. I am happy to peacefully coexist with other dogs, especially with dogs who are similar in size (40-70 lbs). My foster home has three other dogs and Im good with all of them. I dont necessarily play with them, so Id also be OK as an only dog. A fenced yard would be ideal, though a run in a protected yard could also work. And if youre looking for a great walking buddy, I love to walk outside. I just shouldnt be running or too active right now because I am Heartworm positive. TAR is helping me recover, as heartworm is treatable and preventable. Im on the slow kill heartworm treatment protocol. Ive already started my heartworm prevention medication, and I am scheduled for three heartworm cure injections: one in mid-August, and two in mid-September. Then Ill be retested in mid-October and again 6 months later just to be sure it worked. Ill need to be on heartworm prevention medicine for the rest of my life to make sure these heartworms dont come back!! If you adopt me during the treatment, TAR will continue to cover the cost of the treatment. Youll just have to go to the TAR vet in Naperville. I'm patiently waiting for my chance to be your beloved companion. If you're looking for a middle-aged guy who craves love, enjoys the company of others, and appreciates the simple pleasures in life, then look no further. When we meet, I promise that I will greet you with a wiggle butt, and I may give you some kisses. I know deep down that my perfect family is out there, waiting to cherish and adore me just as I will cherish and adore them. Just apply to meet me. I'll be your most loyal and loving companion! Love,Hudson Hudsonis in our foster home in Downers Grove. To meet this gentle boy, please complete our adoption application at: https://treasuredanimalrescueinc.org/application-dog-adoption/ Please don't let his heart worm status from stopping you for giving this sweet boy an opportunity for a home. Heart worm is treatable and also preventable. Sadly, his original owners did not keep him on his monthly preventions. Treasured Animal Rescue will cover all his heart worm treatment expenses and any questions regarding the treatment process for his heart worm, please send an email to: info@treasuredanimalrescueinc.org Sorry, Treasured Animal Rescue does not adopt out of the State of Illinois Thank you for choosing to adopt! Story
Hi! I am Gretchen, a 30 lb yellow lab mix tripod who is around 4 years old. I am super sweet, affectionate and love to give kisses. I'm pretty low-key and love having people around me. Even though I had my left hind leg amputated it hasn't stopped me from wanting to chase after squirrels and rabbits. I love playing with older kids (5 years or older). I don't really like large dogs because I'm a bit intimidated by them therefore prefer smaller dogs. I would also love a fenced in yard so I can run and chase squirrels and rabbits. I have a gentle spirit and playful nature. I am looking for my forever home with humans that will show me lots of love and affection. THE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS adoption fee is just $99! This will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. Story
Hi I am Emmie (aka Ember)! I am about 1 1/2 year old female lab mix and full of wiggles and wags. I am a good vibes kind of gal. I would love someone who has time for me. My favorite place to be is near my people!!..I love to be loved… belly rubs, ear scratches… yes, please!!  I am good about staying off the furniture but enjoy having a cozy place to lay… nap time is important to me and I do spend some of my day lounging and relaxing…I am happy to hang out with you if you work from home or relax alone. Sometimes, my foster dad invites me on the lounge chair, it’s pretty great and I am big lap dog and snuggler.  Guess what else? I am potty trained and crate trained too! I enjoy being outside helping you work around the yard, but need to be monitored. A HIGH fenced yard would great, I love a good critter chase and am defiantly quite an athlete outside. No cats or small dogs would be best. Training would be very helpful, I am still young, I can get jumpy sometimes when I am excited, I will make you feel like the most important person when you come home!! Positive reinforcement is important to build my confidence. I am very smart and love to hear you tell me I am good girl… My foster mom says I am quite the princess… and I am very happy to be at the center of attention!! Did I mention that being rescued is great??  I am currently being fostered with two older male dogs and two older kids. I am still figuring out how to be friends with the dogs in the house…They have been teaching me the importance of alerting the family of all deliveries, but I am not a big barker (these herding breeds take their job seriously, I prefer squirrel and chipmunk patrol. I would be fine as an only dog or with an experienced dog owner who can help me when I am nervous… I am not really interested in playing with the dogs in my foster home, but I do follow them around the house and we lounge around together. I am doing well walking on leash and enjoy car rides… I am ready to be your best girl! Being in a shelter can be stressful and I hope that whoever adopts me will help me shine!! I am thankful to the volunteers at Starfish to give me a new chance at life.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  .
