Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 Adoption Costs and other important information. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.  Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Story
Charlotte is a wonderfully playful young girl. She is enthusiastic and enjoys meeting other dogs. Charlotte easily makes friends with the people she meets. She is looking for someone that can teach her to play fetch. Charlotte loves toys and loves to play, but if you don't have a toy she will play with your hands. We try not to encourage that here at the shelter. Charlotte is a fast learner and since all she wants is for you to play with her, she catches on quickly putting the toy in her mouth rather than your hands. If you are viewing this dog's profile on Adopt-a-Pet and are interested in adopting, please head to our official website at www.worcesterarl.org to fill out a Dog Adoption Inquiry Form, which will be located under the dog's profile.

Story
Joy is the perfect name for a boy as happy as this very handsome little guy.  Joy ended up in foster when his rescuer found out that his family had been evicted, and couldn't take him with them.    He is very easy going and would make a great family companion.  Joy walks very good on a leash and is potty trained.  Loves the company of other pups.  Cats, yes.  Would love to be your ride or die for car rides and as many walks as you want to take. ##1980546##

Story
Meet Eleanor! This sweet mama was rescued with seconds left before her and her puppies were euthinized for space.(Yes her pupies are safe and also available for adoption) Age: 1.5 Wieght: 35/40lbs Good with kids: Great with kids. She has shown no signs of aggression. If they run up to her sometime, she does cower. She does have a habit of jumping up. Ideal home house/apartment: either. She gets the zoomies and enjoys our backyard. She’s very comfortable in her crate. And does not like to be alone, unless she is in her crate. She is not high energy.  Dog friendly: I have not exposed her to other dogs due to her pregnancy. However when passing by them on the road, when we are walking, she seems scared of them.  Cat friendly: Our neighbor has a cat that sometimes goes in our backyard, Eleanor Barked excessively at it. This is the one and only time I have ever heard her bark.  How does she do on a leash: she does great on a leash. She does not pull. She does have a habit of walking in front of you, if not, corrected. She would be a trip hazard.  Personality: Eleanor is very sweet and timid. I think she would be uncomfortable in a rambunctious household. She is not a barker, but she whines constantly, to display happiness and to express a need.  Potty trained: she does not go in her crate, but she will go in the house. She goes in a different spot in the yard every time, so I do not believe she has ever been worked with potty training.  Crate trained: yes  Energy level: moderate Ideal family lifestyle: A more laid-back family. She likes a lot of attention.  ##1959011##
