Story
Dash here from Great Lakes Dog Rescue! I arrived at GLDR in June with my brothers Lance and Buster. We are nine-month-old lab mixes, weighing in around 45 pounds, looking for loving families to call our own. My brother Buster has already been adopted so won't you consider making me part of your family? Since I wasn't a fan of kennel life (can you blame me), a wonderful foster family stepped up to take me home while I wait for my forever family! I'm currently living with my foster parents and their cat. I'm very interested in their cat Cleo, but she doesn't seem to be a fan of mine. I'm respectful of her wishes for space. To say that I'm enjoying my foster life is an understatement! After taking a few days to get acclimated, we found out I LOVE the water! Just look at my pictures/videos! True to my namesake, my foster mom says I do the cutest little "dash" around the living room when I'm playing with my toys. My plush Mr. Bill toy is my favorite!! Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, my awesome foster family brought my brother Lance home to foster as well! We have a blast together and bring each other comfort. I'm so glad he's here with me! I'm happy to report I'm both house-trained and crate-trained! I behave myself in my crate during the day while my foster parents are working. My foster family took me to the park the other day and I did well in the car. We had some family come stay with us recently and they brought their pup to stay. I was a bit hesitant at first, but soon after I was playing and having the best time with my furry friend! My foster family is working with me on my recall and commands, and they are impressed with how well I'm learning! High value treats work best to keep me motivated. I enjoy walks and am pretty good on a leash. I'm curious, but still cautious with new people and places. As I'm a young pup, I'll benefit from continued training and just know I'll make you proud! Though I can be a little hesitant around new people, I've started seeking out affection on my own and like to stay close to my family. When I need some down time, I'll head to my crate and relax. I sleep quietly through the night in my crate, though I might sleep in bed with you if that's something you're up for. What am I looking for in a family? Glad you asked! My foster family thinks I'd do well in a predictable, but active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. A yard to play in is a must for me! I'm a bit timid in the beginning, but I'm already feeling so much more at ease and am just loving being part of a family! As my confidence continues to increase, so does my ability to live with other animals. Having a chance to play with other pups has done wonders for me! I'd be happy to meet your fur baby to see if we are a match! If I sound like your kind of gal, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com and my friends at GLDR will be in touch!

Story
Meet Tuck! This strapping seven-year-old lab lover boy will capture your heart the moment you meet him! He currently weighs around 100 pounds, but that just means you'll have a lot of pup to snuggle! With his soulful eyes and gentle manner, Tuck is just pure joy- plain and simple. We are looking for a family that will give him everything a senior pup could ask for and more! Tuck doesn't ask for much. Give him some belly rubs, a few treats, and a couch to crash on, and he'll be your best friend for life! He knows "sit" and "down" and will show you just how smart he is. He gives the most gentle kisses to thank you for spending time with him. We are thankful one of our volunteers took Tuck into foster, where he is spending his days lounging in a comfy bed, chewing on his favorite bones, and playing ball in the yard. Tuck has great recall and does well with other dogs. As if that weren't cool enough, Tuck also lives with two cats who he gets along great with! Tuck enjoys leisurely walks and is great on a leash! He's a bit overweight, so someone to slowly help him improve his mobility and drop a few pounds would be wonderful! During the day, he likes to look out the window and watch the world. He appears to be house-trained and sleeps quietly through the night! He also does well riding in the car. Based on our evaluation, we feel Tuck would do well in a home with adults or families with children ages five and up. We feel he has the ability to live with other dogs and cats. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! After some investigation, we've determined Tuck does have some food allergies, which we are easily addressed with his diet. If you think Tuck is the dog of your dreams, visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and fill out an application today! Let's not make this gentle giant wait any longer for his happily ever after!

Story
Meet Shadow! Hey everyone! Shadow here from Great Lakes Dog Rescue! I'm currently 2.5 years old and weigh in around 45 pounds. My friends think I'm a lab mix, but everyone knows for sure that I'm adorable. I'm currently crashing with an amazing foster family who has truly helped me come out of my shell and boy am I glad they did! I live with my foster parents, their two kids ages 10 and 13 and my fur sister. I absolutely LOVE kids, so if you have some of your own, kids five and up would be perfect for me as I have a very gentle nature. If you have a dog, I'm always up for a meet and greet and have a blast with my foster fur sibling. I am the queen of the zoomies and having a yard of my own is a must for my new family. A home where I'd have daily walks and my own stash of toys would be perfect! I like to alternate my time playing in the yard and lounging around the house on anything soft I can find. Couches, pillows, blankets, beds, and of course my family-give me something to snuggle and I'm one happy pup! My foster mom says I am potty-trained, crate-trained, and have excellent recall! I'm learning so many new things and have already mastered "sit and "down. I would like a family that will continue to work with me on training so I can be the best dog possible! I also walk well on a leash and enjoy my daily walks with my foster mom. Though I need encouragement getting in the car, once I'm in, I'm eager to see where the road takes us. When meeting new people, I need a few minutes to warm up, but once you're in- you're in for life! My foster family says I'm so affectionate and just want to be where you are. If you're looking for someone to keep you warm this winter, I'm your gal! I am very tolerant and would make a wonderful addition to your family. It would be great if I could find a forever home that's as great as my foster one is! If I sound like your kind of gal, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit an application today. My friends at GLDR will be happy to put you in touch with my foster parents. See you soon!
