Story
Zion is a 5 year old neutered Lab. He comes from a purebred bloodline. I got him and his brother as puppies not knowing about sibling syndrome.I learned how to keep the boys happy with each other but it caused them both to have anxiety. I recently put Zion on prozac which helped him relax, quit barking excessively and make better eye contact. He had professional training at 1 years old and knows basic commands.Recently he has successfully been trained on outings with strange dogs and people. He is leash trained. He has been around my young grandchildren without any issues. Zion attacked our cat that has lived here as long as he has. He has never liked cats. It was unprovoked and triggered by cat food. He has never bitten any humans. He loves his people fiercely. He would rather lay his head on your lap and be petted than eat a steak. Zion is stubborn,he needs consistent routine and discipline. He would do great as star of the show.

Story
Meet Kaya! This fun-loving 10-pound lab mix is only five months old and can't wait to truly begin her life with a loving family! Kaya arrived at GLDR with her brother Nodin. The two of them were dumped in rural Arkansas along with their mother and other siblings. Thanks to a good Samaritan, they were rescued and eventually ended up here with us. We promised these two we'd find them the best families out there! Kaya is a curious and confident girl who gives great kisses! She will thrive in an active home where she will benefit from daily exercise and continued training. She knows how to sit and always appreciates tasty treats! She will make one lucky family happy for many years to come! Based on our evaluation, we feel Kaya will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. We feel she has the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you want to show Kaya just how wonderful life can be, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this dynamic darling!

Story
Meet Nodin! This tender-loving 18-pound lab mix is only five months old and can't wait to head home with a loving family! Nodin arrived at GLDR with his brother Kaya. The two of them were dumped in rural Arkansas along with their mother and other siblings. Thanks to a good Samaritan, they were rescued and eventually ended up here with us. We promised these two we'd find them the best families out there! Nodin can be bit shy to start, but it doesn't take long at all for this gentle boy to make himself right at home in your lap! Once he lends you his paw in friendship, you'll be hooked! As Nodin is still a young man, he'll benefit from daily exercise and continued training. He knows how to sit and takes his treats gently. The family that adopts him can look forward to many happy years ahead! Based on our evaluation, we feel Nodin will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. We feel he has the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you want to show Nodin just how wonderful life can be, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application this lovable lab!

Story
Sweet, sweet Stella! She is estimated to be about 8 months old and weighs 35 pounds right now. Meet Stella, this little ray of light is so full of love, she is a treasure. Crawling up in your lap makes her so happy, what a wonderful best friend she is going to be. She has about the softest ears, a cute waggy tail and walks nice on a leash. What a fun girl too, she is up for about anything, she is great in the car and is ready to go on adventures. We took her to an event where there was a lure course, she absolutely loved it, and did amazing, she was a natural. Stella just craves closeness and reassurance but can be a little submissive. She is a bundle of potential, eager to learn and grow, especially if she has a leader to rely on for guidance and that can help build her confidence. She can also still be a little puppy mouthy, so she will need a little work on that. Stella will need a home where any children are more calm, respectful and at least 8 years old. Come and meet Stella—she's ready to capture your heart and be by your side through all of life's adventures! If you are interested in Stella and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Jerry — the Sweetest Little Braveheart! At just 4 months old, Jerry is learning that the big world isn’t such a scary place after all. With every gentle touch and kind word, his confidence grows — and his tail wags a little faster! This super-duper sweet pup is looking for a family that’s empathetic, compassionate, and full of love — the kind of people who will show him patience as he continues to discover how wonderful life can be. If you’ve got an open heart and room for one adorable, tender-hearted puppy, Jerry’s ready to melt your soul.  We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. November 25, 2025, 3:45 pm

Story
Hi everybody We have to rehome our 4 yo husky lab mix named Pluto. He is an amazing dog in the right environment. His personality is so goofy and entertaining. Such an adventurous, loving dog. All he wants to do is be outside and play. Very food motivated! He loves the water. He is potty trained. Not the best recall. He walks good with a mouth lead. On a regular lead, will pull but eventually give up. Other dogs are tricky. He would do best being the only dog in the home. He cannot be around young children. The reason we are forced to find him a new home is because he can get aggressive towards kids. We have a baby and can not take the chance. He needs people that have dog experience and will respect his space. It truly breaks our hearts to even make this. He really is a great dog and deserves a home that is right for him. We are in the metro Detroit area but willing to take him anywhere.
