Story
Hi! I am looking to find a loving, responsible and happy home for my dog Star, a beautiful, spayed, 70lb black lab pit mix who turned 7 on June 23. She’s youthful, healthy, sweet, and energetic! (aka “Star Puppy”) Star loves being around people (she will want to be your best friend!) She is very active—walking, running, swimming, playing in the snow, sunbathing, sniffing, and fetching! She enjoys some alone time, but is usually ready to play. Star is house trained, leash trained, and respectful of humans’ property and food. Though she’s 7, she can still be trained to do almost anything with some simple treats and consistency! She is always excited to learn. A fenced in yard is great for Star. I think Star needs someone who can play with her, take her on walks, and help her feel at home.

Story
Blue is a sweet senior Lab who deserves a calm and patient home. He has some challenges: he experiences anxiety, especially when there are loud noises like a crying baby, he’s incontinent when he gets nervous, and he can be an escape artist. For these reasons, he needs a quiet, adult-only household, preferably with someone experienced with dogs who understands anxiety and senior care. Despite his special needs, he is incredibly loyal and loves affection. He’s happiest when he’scalm and feels safe, and he’ll be a loving companion to the right person who can give him the attention and care he deserves.

Story
Hi my name is Lucky! I am a good boy and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and I can be sensitive when it gets to be too much, I may do best in a home without young children. I can be selective when it comes to new friends, so I’d like to meet any potential dog siblings before I go home. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information.

Story
Meet Oliver or as we call him, Ollie! Ollie’s journey hasn’t been easy. When he was first rescued, he was nearly hairless and suffering from painful, mange ridden skin (see last photo). He had been on the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. A volunteer and a foster fell in love with him, a rescue said yes, and hence started Ollie’s healing journey. Fast forward a few months, he is a handsome, happy, and full of life boy! Most of his fur has grown back beautifully, though he still has a bald patch around his neck and shoulders that may never fully regrow. But honestly, It just adds to his charm. His glow-up is truly something special. Ollie is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. His fosters call him their “golden child” because he’s just about perfect. Ollie is fantastic with every person he meets, including kids, and he absolutely adores other dogs. Ollie is both potty trained and kennel trained. He loves playing with other dogs, chewing on toys, going on walks, car rides, and just chilling. His foster family absolutely adores him, and watching him blossom has been nothing short of heartwarming. Ollie does need weekly baths to keep his skin healthy but they are quick and easy, and he is very cooperative. He is estimated to be around 6-7 years old and weighs about 55 lbs. If you think Ollie is your next best friend apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Ollie is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, but is available in many cities around the country. The adoption fee includes the cost of transport.

Story
Sammy is a man of few words - we don't know where he came from or how old he really is... He has scars on his face and body, refuses to answer questions about the past. We just know, he's a cool dude. He enjoys sunsets and watching horses run in the neighbors yard. He enjoys being out with other chill dogs and roaming between meals. He has gained weight since being at this foster home (where he found safety) - 70 lbs at his neuter up to 98 at his last vet visit. Sammy was heartworm positive, treated and on prevention. He would enjoy a home with experience in rescues or shelter dogs, help him settle - learn routine, then relax. He has not shown strong interests in things or favorites - but likely that will change when he is given attention and in a home. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Adoption Fee reflects the need for an XL crate at travel. His caregiver was upset! They took Sammy in after his owners died and had kept him safe in their barn. He had dog friends, he played with Maggie and observes the farm and other animals without being a problem. We agreed to take on his care, finish his medical needs and work on adoption. Even the older, shy, timid or less expressive dogs can be amazing family pets. Thank you for reading his bio and considering this dude. Volunteers will keep working on photos and fieldtrips to get videos!
