Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Gladys!  Gladys is an approximately 1 year old sweet Maltese that just arrived from transport.  Although she just arrived, her true personality has already came through! Making her a heart stealer and a perfect buddy to follow you around!  Here’s more about Gladys:  Walks- She walks great on leash, and tends to look back, making sure she is pleasing you and near you!  Crate- She willing goes in her crate (well with some slight bribery, a treat preferably).  Cuddles- Gladys loves some cuddles, and is sure to lay down and show you her belly, making her the perfect late night move partner!  Overall, Gladys is sure to steal your heart! If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly and loyal pup she is your girl. Gladys recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous mammary tumor. Thankfully, the tumor was completely excised, and she is currently cancer-free. While this is very positive news, she will require ongoing preventative care and regular veterinary monitoring to help ensure her continued health and to catch any potential concerns early. With proper follow-up care and attention, her prognosis is very good, and she is expected to live a happy, healthy life.  apply at pharf.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 2, 2026, 4:21 pm

*********Please read bio fully before responding. We appreciate your interest in one of our dogs and it would be very helpful when you respond if you share information about yourself(home/yard, work hours, other pets, kids, dog experience..) Also, we do have an application at sparrowdogs.com that we will need in order to proceed with the adoption. THANK YOU!! We recently took in four dogs from an overcrowding situation, a home that just had way to many dogs! We are totally guessing at the breed(s) that may be involved in this crew, lol. I can see Maltese, perhaps some sort of terrier, maybe even a little bit of Chihuahua? Who knows, but we do know they are just adorable. The little family had been at a shelter for a time and were just not settling in, they were terrified. Yes, they were safe and warm, and cared for. But, despite that, it was not home, whatever that may have been. We are happy to say they are doing great on their foster home, they settled in very well being back in a home situation. That happened quicker than expected, within the first day they were anxious to be picked up and snuggled on a warm lap. They all love their toys, snuggly beds and quick trips out in this bitter cold. They are doing well with their house training. We do use potty pads and they will use them in between outdoor breaks. They are also shy meeting new people, it is a big new world out here and they need a little patience. So, we are looking for very loving, patient people that understand these guys need a little extra TLC, as far as settling in and continued reinforcement on the potty training. Their coats are in the process of healing as well, very common in such situations. Some of the had a bit of thinner hair that should soon fill in nicely in a more healthy situation. Lil Jelly Roll is a sweet, loving, active and snuggly guy. You would never know that he had ever had a rough day in his life. Of the four dogs that came from the crowded situation, he is the most outgoing and social. If there is a lap to be had in the house, Jelly will gladly warm it for you!! He is terrific with the other dogs and is a very gentle boy, he wants a family to love and appreciate all that he has to offer. We think he is pretty fantastic!! He is doing well with his potty training, and loves being outside running and playing. He will do well in a home that has tons of time to spend with him, another dog or two would be great! Jelly's adoption fee is $400. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Little Ella Bug is just a year old and about 12 pounds. She is one of those girls that doesn't need the spotlight, she will sit behind her siblings and let them get all the attention, but give you that sweet little look like....don't forget me!! She has the most unique, almost human like face, she is simply adorable!! Ella is very snuggly, silly, cuddly and little goofball of a girl! Her adoption fee is $400. We all hate to play favorites with our kids...or our dogs...but...I have to say that Lil Lainey just stole my heart. She had a rough past where apparently she did not get a lot of attention. She is shy, her hair is thin right now, and her face was a little scruffy. But, what a heart and personality she has, you just want to hold her and help her forget anything bad. And, when you do, she just relaxes, closes those sweet eyes and just absorbs it all. She loves to fall alsleep in our arms, Lainey is just too stinking cute. When she is not just loving up on us she is bringing us toys. We have some fuzzy cheeto's. She is forever carrying one around and wanting to snuggle in a lap with a cheeto, now doesn't that sound like your special girl!!?? I am not sure which she loves more, her toys or her snuggles? She will be shy meeting new people, and she has the cutest little raspy bark when she does, but she will settle in quickly with a loving and patient family. Lainey is a tiny girl, maybe 9 pounds, and is thought to be around 2 years old(maybe younger?). Her adoption fee is $400, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Lilly! I am an active and energetic girl that will need a young family to love me for years to come. I am a gentle soul with a heart full of love. I am very sweet and love belly rubs and treats. I weigh 10 lbs and love to go on walks. I do get excited and “talk” to other dogs on walks. Don’t they know this is my neighborhood and they aren’t allowed to walk in it too?! Due to my excitement, my foster mom thinks I’d do best in a home where I’m the only dog and get alllllll the attention. My favorite place to be is on my humans lap, being held and watching tv. Yes, TV! Let’s meet and talk about our favorite shows to watch. I can’t wait to be our couch buddy. My foster mom says I also love to keep her company while she works and I’m the best co- worker and let her work while I snooze, dreaming of my forever family finding me. I am about 3-1/2 years old and I’m told I’m a Yorkie-Maltese mix. Which equates to an adorable little bundle of pure happiness. I am housebroken and crate trained. But I only go in the crate when no one is home or to sleep overnight. If there are any kids in my forever home, I prefer them to be 10 or older. Lilly is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit her will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $400.00 which includes all age appropriate vaccines, and she is already spayed and microchipped. Please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application if you are interested.

Story
Hi, I’m Marshmallow! Going for walks outside is one of my favorite things, especially when I get to explore the world with my person by my side. I’m looking for an adult-only home where I can feel calm, safe, and understood. I also need to be your one and only pet so I can enjoy all the love just for me. In a peaceful, quiet home, I know I’ll thrive and be the most loyal companion you could ask for!
