Sadly, they both came down with pneumonia and were placed on the E-list. Thankfully they made it out in time and are now safe with us. Now that Mojo is healthy, he’s ready for the next step — his cherry eye surgery and neuter — and then he’ll be ready to find his forever home. Mojo is the more outgoing of the two brothers. He loves going for walks, enjoys toys, and is always happy to cuddle up with his people. He’s dog friendly and does best with female dogs. Both boys were struggling with pneumonia and also had cherry eye, a surgery many people are hesitant to take on due to the cost. Sadly, that meant their chances of making it out of the shelter were very slim. Thankfully Monte got his second chance. He is now healthy, feeling great, and ready for his cherry eye surgery and—most importantly—ready to find his forever home. Monte is a sweet boy who loves going for walks and enjoys a good cuddle with his people. He does best in playgroups with one or two other dogs, preferably females. Monte is a little under-socialized and would thrive in a home that will continue helping him experience the world—more walks, outings, and positive social time. Joyce waited for someone who never came… Joyce is a 2-year-old Mastiff who found herself scared and confused in the Lancaster shelter. When we first reached out to pull her, we were told she already had an adopter waiting. We were relieved… we thought her story was about to have a happy ending. But the adopter never came back. After Joyce was spayed, she sat and waited. And waited. Days passed. No one returned for her. A week later we saw her name appear on the E-List. By then she was sick, depressed, and completely shut down. We dropped everything and rushed to the shelter. Twenty minutes later Joyce was walking out the door with us. Now that she’s safe, the real Joyce is starting to show. Beneath the fear is a very sweet, gentle, submissive girl who just wants to feel safe again. She is dog friendly, appears to be house trained, and has been very respectful in the home. Right now Joyce is learning that people won’t leave her behind again. She’s slowly gaining confidence every day. What she needs most now is a patient, loving home that will give her the time and reassurance she deserves. Because the first person who promised her a home didn’t show up… But the right one still can.
