Story
Hi, All Mac, here short for Mac truck lol. If you love big goofy dogs, I'm your guy. I am 100 lbs. of cuddle bug. I really don't think I am as big as they say I am because I would prefer to just be a couch Potatoe and lay next to my people and chew on a bone. I am a people kind of guy and love everyone I meet. I can probably live with another dog, but he would have to be calmer like me. but little dogs and very young children I would be afraid of because I am clumsy and wouldn't want to hurt them. I definitely don't think I could handle cats. But I know a lot of commands they say I am really smart and a fast learner. I am potty trained but do not like cages. I am strong on a leash so I would need a strong owner. Fill out an app here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdsHBf5NUtvyBYpzWm6Z5Z0JosLBTsDC98oxPTfxtM9brrc7Q/viewform

Story
Hi, I’m Orville.  I am a senior boy looking to relax in a home for my golden years. I will need typical senior care special needs. Dog’s Name: Orville Location: St. Joseph, IL Date of Birth: 06/28/2017 Gender: Male Breed: Mastiff Mix Color: Brindle Dog's Weight: 118 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats Kids?: Have not tested with kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Orville Orville is the definition of laid-back love. This tall, gentle boy is happiest right by your side — truly your shadow in the very best way. Whether you're moving from room to room or enjoying a quiet afternoon, Orville will calmly stroll along beside you. He’s a pleasure on walks and just as easy in the yard, where he prefers to stay close rather than wander. Orville is wonderfully quiet and only speaks up when it’s time to head outside. His house manners are impeccable — he has his potty routine down perfectly and hasn’t had a single accident in foster care. He politely sits for his food bowl and treats, and at this stage in life, he’s more about companionship than chaos. While he may be a little slower these days, that just makes him an easy keeper and an incredibly devoted companion. Orville is quiet and well mannered, great on walks, fully house trained, does not require a fenced yard, will do well as an only dog or with a calm buddy, and an excellent choice for a first-time giant breed owner. Orville isn’t looking for adventure — he’s looking for connection. If you’re hoping for a steady, gentle presence who will faithfully follow you through life’s simple moments, Orville is ready to be your loyal best friend. Story
Hi, I’m Peewee and I’m ready to find my forever home!  Location: Kaukauna, WI Date of Birth: 6/07/2024 Gender: Male  Breed: Mastiff Color: Tan Dog's Weight: 139 Gets along with: Dogs?: All dogs Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash Trained: Working on it! Crate Trained: Goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides well in car Meet PeeWee At 139 pounds, PeeWee is a lot of dog, but his favorite thing in the world is simple: being close to his people. If you're sitting down, don't be surprised if PeeWee appears at your side looking for pets. And if you stop petting him before he's ready? He'll happily remind you with a gentle nudge that your job isn't finished yet. PeeWee is settling beautifully into foster care and has quickly shown everyone what a sweet, affectionate boy he is. He loves attention, enjoys following his people around the house, and can often be found proudly carrying one of his stuffed toys from room to room as if he's showing off a prized possession. This handsome guy is potty trained, crate trained, rides great in the car, and is working hard on his leash skills. He's also proven to be a good patient at the vet—except when it came time for his glands to be expressed, and honestly, who can blame him? Like many intelligent dogs, PeeWee occasionally finds creative ways to entertain himself. Shoes and TV remotes sometimes catch his attention, but more often than not, he'll proudly bring his treasures right back to you in exchange for affection. He is still learning some basic manners and will benefit from continued training and consistency. We want to be honest that PeeWee can be wary of men and will need slow, patient introductions to build trust. Once he feels safe, however, his loving personality shines through. He is also a strong dog with a stubborn streak, so his future family should be comfortable handling a giant breed and committed to continuing his training. PeeWee may do well as an only dog or with another compatible canine companion. He reportedly did well with other dogs while at the shelter, and we're continuing to learn more about his preferences. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown. PeeWee's ideal family is one that appreciates giant breed dogs, enjoys an affectionate companion, and is willing to invest in obedience training and confidence-building. In return, they'll get a loyal friend, a dedicated cuddle enthusiast, and a dog who will make them laugh daily with his goofy antics and oversized personality. If you're looking for a sweet, lovable giant who wants nothing more than to be near his people, PeeWee may be the perfect addition to your family.   Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Story
Hi, I’m Poe and I’m ready to find my forever home!  Dog’s Name: Poe Location: Oak Park, IL Date of Birth: 5/26/2023 Gender: Male  Breed: Mastiff Color: Brown Dog's Weight: 80 Gets along with: Dogs?: No Cats?:  No Kids?: Unsure Training: Leash Trained: Walks loose leash Crate Trained: Goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides well in car Meet Poe Poe is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with his people and wants nothing more than to protect the things he loves. He is affectionate, intelligent, and full of energy. In the home, Poe is well-mannered, eager to please, and happiest when spending time with his family. He loves attention, enjoys giving kisses, and is always ready for a game of roughhousing, wrestling, or an outdoor adventure. Poe is highly food motivated, potty trained, and knows how to go into his crate on command. He loves car rides, enjoys having a job to do, and possesses all the confidence and awareness that make livestock guardian breeds such devoted companions. We want to be transparent that Poe is not a dog for everyone. He has strong guardian instincts and is reactive to unfamiliar dogs and to people he perceives as suspicious or threatening. On walks, he may react to dogs, strangers who approach too closely, or unexpected sights such as skateboards and motorcycles. He is not currently a candidate for a home with other dogs or cats, and his compatibility with children has not yet been evaluated. Poe is also incredibly athletic and determined. He can break through dog gates and has been known to escape crates if left unattended for long periods. His future family will need to provide appropriate management, supervision, and continued training to help him succeed. The good news is that Poe is young, smart, and eager to work with his people. His foster believes that with consistent training and experienced handling, many of his challenges can be improved. He thrives when given structure, clear expectations, and positive outlets for his energy. Poe's ideal home is with an experienced large guardian breed owner who understands protective instincts and is committed to ongoing training. A securely fenced yard would be a huge benefit, giving him a safe place to run, play, and continue building confidence. He would also make an excellent adventure companion for someone who enjoys hiking, outdoor activities, or dog sports. For the right person, Poe offers something special: unwavering loyalty, deep devotion, and a bond that only a true guardian dog can provide. If you have experience with powerful working breeds and are looking for a dedicated partner who wants to be by your side through life's adventures, Poe may be the dog you've been waiting for. ***** One special thing to know about Poe is that he currently lives with fellow foster Castor. Despite both boys having strong personalities and ongoing training needs, they genuinely enjoy each other's company. They play together, spend time together, and have become important parts of each other's daily lives. While we would absolutely love to see them adopted together, we understand that finding the perfect home is most important. Because of that, Castor and Poe are available for separate adoption and we are committed to finding each of them the family that best fits their individual needs. Whether adopted together or apart, both boys deserve loving homes where they can continue to thrive. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue fill out an online.
