Story
Hi, I’m Marvin and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Marvin Location: Bourbonnais, IL Date of Birth: 10/11/2024 Gender: Male Breed: English Mastiff Mix Color: Fawn Dog's Weight: 80 Gets along with: Dogs?: Continuing with slow introduction, but appears to be excited to see the resident dogs Cats?: The resident cat will enter Marvin's area to rest.  Marvin will sniff the cat and walk away.    Kids?: Hasn't been introduced to children yet Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Crate/Kennel: Working on crate training.  He's anxious at night and it takes him a bit to settle.  Once settled, he's fine in the crate. Meet Marvin Marvin is settling in beautifully and showing more of his sweet, loving personality every day. He enjoys being close to his person and thrives on connection, making him a loyal companion who just wants to be part of your world. He walks well on a leash and has been calm and non-reactive to people passing by, even those jogging. In fact, Marvin enjoys picking up the pace and could make a great running partner! He also rides wonderfully in the car and recently charmed everyone at the vet with his friendly, easygoing nature. Marvin is cat friendly and showing promising signs with other dogs. He has been able to calmly observe and interact through gates and is improving with exposure, though slow, structured introductions will be important as he continues to learn appropriate behaviors. He is also still working through some mounting behaviors, which will benefit from continued training and guidance. Children seem new to Marvin, and while he is not aggressive, he can be unsure. He tends to observe and assess rather than react, especially outside of confined spaces. Because of this, he may do best in a home with older children or one that can help build his confidence at a comfortable pace. Marvin loves to play fetch and is beginning to engage with toys like ropes. While he doesn’t yet have formal obedience training, he is already learning commands like sit, lay, and down, and is picking things up quickly. With consistency and structure, he has all the potential to become a very well-mannered companion. Due to his size and strength, Marvin would do best with an experienced giant breed owner who can provide ongoing training, structure, and guidance. He may do well with other pets and older children with proper introductions, and while a fenced yard is not required, regular exercise and continued training are essential. Marvin is a loving, eager-to-learn dog with so much potential. With the right home, patience, and commitment, he will grow into an incredible, loyal companion. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue fill out an online. Story
Hi, I’m Amelia and I’m ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Amelia Location: Wood River, IL Date of Birth: 03/11/2023 Gender: Female Breed: English Mastiff Color: Fawn Dog's Weight: 92 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs  Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All Kids Training: Leash trained: Good on leash, but a little clumsy.  May trip you or herself Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Amelia Amelia is truly the sweetest girl, and now that she’s fully recovered from pneumonia, her personality is shining brighter than ever! This goofy, playful, and delightfully silly pup loves to ham it up and keep everyone smiling. Whether she’s playing with other dogs or enjoying time with her people, Amelia brings joyful energy wherever she goes. She may be a bit clumsy—think baby giraffe learning the ropes—so don’t be surprised if she accidentally knocks a thing or two over, but it only adds to her charm! Amelia is incredibly loving and adores cuddles—she’s as soft as a bunny and happiest when snuggled up close. She’s a smart girl who learns quickly with consistency and positive guidance. She loves everyone she meets, though she may get a little nervous and barky when new people enter her home. Give her a few minutes, some gentle reassurance, and a couple of treats, and she’ll be your new best friend. Amelia would thrive in a home with another playful dog or regular opportunities for playdates. While a fenced yard is recommended, it’s not required. She’s easygoing and on the smaller side for a giant breed, making her a great candidate for a first-time giant dog owner. She’s comfortable being crated or spending time in her own space as long as she has something to keep her busy—but her favorite place is right by your side. Amelia has a medium energy level and would benefit from continued obedience training and learning some manners (especially when it comes to sneaky snack stealing!). If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, affectionate companion who will keep you laughing and shower you with love, Amelia might just be your perfect match Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Story
Hi, I’m Orville.  I am a senior boy looking to relax in a home for my golden years. I will need typical senior care special needs. Dog’s Name: Orville Location: St. Joseph, IL Date of Birth: 06/28/2017 Gender: Male Breed: Mastiff Mix Color: Brindle Dog's Weight: 118 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats Kids?: Have not tested with kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Orville Orville is the definition of laid-back love. This tall, gentle boy is happiest right by your side — truly your shadow in the very best way. Whether you're moving from room to room or enjoying a quiet afternoon, Orville will calmly stroll along beside you. He’s a pleasure on walks and just as easy in the yard, where he prefers to stay close rather than wander. Orville is wonderfully quiet and only speaks up when it’s time to head outside. His house manners are impeccable — he has his potty routine down perfectly and hasn’t had a single accident in foster care. He politely sits for his food bowl and treats, and at this stage in life, he’s more about companionship than chaos. While he may be a little slower these days, that just makes him an easy keeper and an incredibly devoted companion. Orville is quiet and well mannered, great on walks, fully house trained, does not require a fenced yard, will do well as an only dog or with a calm buddy, and an excellent choice for a first-time giant breed owner. Orville isn’t looking for adventure — he’s looking for connection. If you’re hoping for a steady, gentle presence who will faithfully follow you through life’s simple moments, Orville is ready to be your loyal best friend.
