Story
Hi, I'm Buddy! I am an 11 month old Mini Aussiedoodle on the hunt for my forever home.  I may be a bit shy when we first meet, but give me a moment and I'll be your loyal friend. I'm young, full of life and just need a bit of patience. I promise, I'm worth it. I love to play, but I also enjoy quiet moments. I'm not just looking for a home, I'm looking for a family, someone to share my love with. I promise to bring joy and happiness to your life. Will you be my forever friend? Adopting me means giving a second chance to a dog who's eager to love. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2078498##

Story
Oh so warm in her wintry white coat, 1.5-year-old K’La has bloomed in her foster home. Despite her initial shyness around strangers, she’s not only the undisputed queen of snuggles and cuddles, she’s LOVING paws-onified! As much as she loves the attention of her fosters, she also LOVES playing with her doggy foster friends, whether it’s running circles around the backyard while one of them chases her or playing games of tug-o-war with them. Happiest when active, she burns off her excess energy by going for one long walk a day, playing fetch and tug-o-war with her fosters, chewing on bones and playing with toys, especially mini tennis balls which she loves chasing, chewing on and ultimately destroying. Not to mention the fact that she enjoys chasing her tail. Responding to “come” with a handclap, K’La releases a toy after a bout of tug-o-war when told to “drop it,” and will “sit” politely for treats. Especially fond of cheese, apple chicken treats and mini milk bones, she’s motivated by food, toys and love, is never crated and is almost fully house-trained. Now what this most loyal and loving companion needs are patient adopters who will win her trust, complete her training, including her commands, and keep her adored and active fur-ever. After DNA testing, we know she's equal parts poodle, chihuahua, and cattle dog! See additional photos of K'La here.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375.  Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email  dogs@arrcolorado.org  for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
When Beau's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the gorgeous Beau tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how beautiful (inside and out) and sweet this Poodle mix is and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Beau became a treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. Beau is just about 9 years old, and in need of a forever home to relax in. Beau weighs approximately 24 pounds of cottony-soft cuteness. He has some dermatitis and hair loss on his back from the harsh Texas streets, but he has been treated, and now just needs some time and good nutrition to help his hair grow back strong and soft. Beau is such a devoted and smart little guy. Since he's been in his foster home, he is a much more relaxed and confident dog. He is literally blossoming! Initially this poor little guy was so frightened due to all the changes in his life but with patience and love, he's truly coming out of his shell! Beau has made progress each and every day with his wonderful foster and has become a much more well-adjusted dog who is open to loving new relationships and fun adventures. Beau has been fully vetted and he does have 1 eye that is fully blind, and his other eye the vet believes is not all the way blind, and he likely can still see shadows out of it. His foster mom said he gets around wonderfully and is the best boy! From Beau's foster: * * * * "Beau is really the perfect dog! He is mellow, so sweet, so loving, and so easy going. He is just a really really good dog. He is very quiet, and rarely barks. He is fully potty trained, he's never had a single accident in the house. He is so sweet with other dogs, and does amazing with the cats too! He also is very sweet with my kids (teenagers) 12 & 14, but I think he would be great with any kids 6+. (Sometimes he gets mildly excited about the cats and sniffs around looking for them, but has never shown aggression toward them, just seems interested. If they move quickly sometimes he will trot after them. My cats are on the cautious side about dogs and they do not appear to feel threatened and continue to move around the house freely.) He spent the first few days coming out of his shell, and when he did he showed that he is the silliest and sweetest guy ever!! On the first day in our house he learned his way around our kitchen (food), living room (crate), to the back door and down some shallow steps to do his outdoor business. He remembered these routes immediately. He LOVES to take walks. He struts and wags his tail. He doesn’t pull. Walks make him happy. Whenever we encounter other dogs, he is calm and friendly. Even a puppy jumped all over him and he didn't care! He has been friendly to every single person he has met out on a walk or inside our house. I gave him a bath and a haircut and he sat through it all like a champ and seems much happier now that his hair is out of his good eye! He does so well on walks. Mostly he seems like he can see what's coming well enough, but sometimes he will fall off the edge of the sidewalk, or walk into a bush, etc. especially if it's on his bad eye side, so he just needs to be guided a little bit more sometimes. He even did well on a trail that had some uphill and downhill parts. We've done 1.5 miles straight many times with no problem at a good pace. He likes to snuggle on the sofa but is also happy lying around on the floor/dog beds. Beau sleeps approx 10/11pm-7am quietly near my bed at night. I keep him gated in with a puppy pen at night just to make sure he doesn't wander off and fall down the stairs during the night, but if it weren't for the stairs, he could absolutely be left loose in the room. He is left free range in the house when home alone or with the kids with no problems. I have not seen or heard any signs of separation anxiety!" * * * * Beau loves his walks where he can socialize with dog-loving neighbors and their pets. He is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Beau's foster mom comes home from errands, she's greeted by a very joyous and loving Beau giving happy kisses and dancing a jig of joy. Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Beau in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home..or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for this people-loving guy. Beau is also a perfect take-along sized guy so it's easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. Beau likes the car and is very happy strapped into his car seat to safely enjoy the ride. Beau is a non- shedding guy (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food is a great regimen to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matte-free. Beau is available for adoption now. If interested in this gorgeous and very cuddly, loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Beau, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder,or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable dog that needs our help. Peaches was one of these dogs that deserves, due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing. Peaches is a cute as can be 7 year old, 8 lb Yorkshire Terrier / Miniature Poodle mix that is nothing but pure love. This girl is SO sweet and as loving and engaging as can be. Peaches was found as a stray in New Mexico, and although she had a collar on (no tag though), nobody ever came to reclaim her. She sat in the shelter waiting on her stray hold, and when no one came looking for her, she got a ticket to Colorado. From Peaches' foster mom: * * * * "Peaches is such an amazing little girl! She is so small and portable and does the cutest little hop up when you go to pick her up. She gets along amazingly with all of my dogs (big and small) and is so incredibly sweet and well behaved. Peaches is potty trained, and while she stays quiet and is perfect in a crate, she definitely does not require one! She does well when left out loose home alone and when I check on her on my camera, she is just snoozing on the couch. She sleeps in bed with us as well. She's a good eater and loves the food I feed (Honest Kitchen Clusters). She is seriously quite the perfect dog and someone will be really really lucky to have her!!" * * * * Peaches is a perfect size and weight to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a tiny dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and love of life. Our dream for this very loving pup is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful Yorkiepoo in a home that includes her in family time and activities (some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Peaches the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Peaches will be a devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. This social girl would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with as well as family members who would enjoy interacting in fun outdoor activities. Peaches is so much fun to watch as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with her beloved foster family. This tiny girl would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and cuddles periodically throughout the day that this life-style brings. We feel that Peaches is too sensitive a girl to spend the long hours of full-time employment alone at home. Peaches breed mix would speak to her being a non-shedding or lightly shedding girl. We can't swear to this until she gets a grooming that that will bring out the beauty of her shelter-tired coat. Peaches will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and great nutrition (5 star food and a salmon oil supplement are excellent protocols for longevity and coat care) to keep Peaches's hair super-healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Peaches has been fully vetted and is up to date on her vaccinations and spayed. Peaches is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Peaches please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
