Story
Meet Reggie, a Miniature Poodle who was dumped on the streets to fend for himself. He was so scared to approach people that we had to trap him. His coat was so mangled and covered with cling ons that we had to shave him down completely and there was a beautiful dog under there! (before pics available on request) He's a sweet little boy but gets very nervous when strangers come in the house. He is best to be with an older couple and no small children in the house. He's very snuggly and lovable, just doesn't like a lot of commotion. Our vet estimated him to be around 4 -5 years. We had his teeth cleaned and polished as he had the beginning of tartar build up, more than likely due to a poor diet. He is neutered, heart worm negative, vaccinated, crate trained and microchipped. Reggie is more than ready for his forever home, could that be you? Reggie is ready for immediate transport PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $600

Story
Hi there, I’m McSquizzy, but you can call me Izzy if you'd like! I may be small—just around 15 pounds—but I have a big heart and lots of love to give! I’m a 7-year-old poodle/terrier mix with a soft, cream-colored coat (and yes, I know I’m adorable). My journey has been a little bumpy. I was recently found as a stray with another dog. We had the same owner but unfortunateoy, our owner couldn’t afford to care for both of us so my buddy got to home but I had to stay in the shelter. So now, I’m looking for my furever home where I can be someone’s loyal companion! I’m friendly, affectionate, and well-mannered—basically, the total package! My only little quirk? I have some skin allergies, but the wonderful vets taking care of me are already working their magic with medicated baths and an allergy medication. I’m feeling better every day, and with a little TLC, I’ll be in tip-top shape in no time! I can’t wait to find a family who will love me as much as I’ll love them. Could that be you? Let’s find out! Love, McSquizzy ##2300211##

Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet boy ISO fresh start and love! TOBY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Toby       Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of February 2025      Gender: Male Approximate Weight:  53 lbs Gets Along With: He gets along with other dogs. We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.  Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here after completing heartworm treatment.  Special Adoption Considerations: Toby is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Toby is Looking For: His forever family! This sweetie landed in the shelter through no fault of his own and he's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed sound good to him too. And Toby was heavily matted - mats are painful!! - when he arrived, and had to be shaved down completely. That coat is high maintenance, requiring daily brushing and regular professional grooming. He wants humans who understand that mats hurt and take good care of his coat.  In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and all the love and loyalty in him. What do you say? Is this sweetie the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Neptune is 3 years old (June 26, 2021) and I received him as a present from a family member. Neptune is very energetic and loves meeting new people. He enjoys playing with both big and small dogs at the dog park. He rarely barks and only does when there’s loud noises or when there’s a knock on the door. He surprisingly doesn’t even bark when playing games with him like tug-of-war or throwing a ball around. He is mischievous and moves like a cat when he’s trying to steal food. He does growl when you try to take food away from him and that’s something he needs to be trained on so I’d recommend preventative measures such as blocking areas he can hide in with the food (ex. under the bed, couch). Ideally, I want to find him a family where there’s at least one person home, or at least another dog he can become friends with so he’s not alone. I’ve obtained a busier schedule as opposed to when I received him which is why it saddens me to rehome such an amazing, smart, good boy.

Story
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email the adoption counselor:  lisastern.tr@gmail.com  and request an adoption application.  Dog's Name:  Pearl Estimated Breed :  Poodle Mix Approximate Age: 7 yrs Approximate Weight:  11 lbs Currently Living at:  Foster Adoption Fee:  $400   DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Pearl  had a rough start to her life. She was a breeder dog in a puppy mill and then sold to someone who didn't realize how unsocialized she was because of her little experience around humans. They were able to get her vetted but then decided that they didn't have the skills and patience to work with her. Pearl needs a loving patient home so she can learn that people are kind and can be trusted.  Personality: While Pearl is  very skittish with people, she is extremely sweet - not a mean bone in her little body. She is not a biter, but will run away from you if you are within a few feet from her. She is still getting used to being around people.  Training & Behavior:  Pearl is n ot housetrained, but is getting the idea with pee pads. As you can imagine, being a breeder mill dog, she has not experienced activities such as using steps or walking on leash. In general, Pearl is not a barker, but if left in a crate or x-pen, she will howl to let you know when she wants out.  Health & Wellness: Pearl is energetic, up to date on her core vaccines and spayed.  Perfect Home:  Pearl  would do best in a single family home with fenced yard. A quiet, low key environment without children is preferred only because noise and quick movements make her nervous. She would never harm anyone, but she is skittish. Ultimately, she would thrive in a home with another confident dog to show her the way and an adopter who has  rescue experience and will make a long term commitment to working with her. S he will be worth the effort! Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, Hatton Animal Rescue spends significantly more on each dog than the adoption fee.
