Story
"Pinto is a 1-year-old, 26-lb schnauzer mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s a smart, food-motivated boy who loves learning and thrives with positive reinforcement. Pinto is excellent in the car, makes a great running buddy, and is a stranger to no one. He’s working on his crate training and can be a bit barky when left alone, so a home without shared walls is best. He’s dog-friendly and very playful with people, always happy to engage and have fun. He has briefly been around kids and he was playful and social. Pinto would be a great fit for an active home that enjoys training, playtime, and companionship. He’s ready to be someone’s loyal best friend!" Pinto is being fostered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/pinto/. Story
Jake is a 2-3 year old, 20lb Schnauzer/Poodle mix (maybe? we don't actually know his breeds, it's all a guess).  Jake was found as a stray and dumped a shelter in Kansas.  He was with a couple other dogs when he was found but was the least terrified out of all of them.  The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could bring him into our foster program and help him come out of his shell and learn how to be a dog.  He has now been with us for a couple months and is ready to find his forever family!  When he was first found he was super matted and had a thick, dirty coat so he was completely shaved down.  His fur is starting to grow out again.  He has super soft, fluffy fur, and seems to be mostly non-shedding, but we cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic since we don't know his background.  He will need regular grooming appointments though to keep him looking handsome and feeling great.   Jake has really started to blossom and learn all that life has to offer as a loved and cherished dog.  He seems to be a dog who picks one human to really bond with.  He follows his foster dad around the house everywhere and loves to snuggle with him.  He would do great in a lower key home with a human or humans who will be patient with him and let him learn to trust them at his own pace.  We know he will bond with his forever human the same way he has with his foster dad, he just needs to be given the time to do so.  He does well with cats and we will require he goes to a home with another dog so he can continue to learn from the behaviors of a confident dog.  Jake does great on a leash and is learning to loves walks around the neighborhood, romping around the backyard with the other dogs, and snuggling up with the other dogs and his foster dad during down time.   If you are interested in giving Jake a forever home, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2433456##

Story
Nala is a 2(ish) year old Schnauzer/Terrier mix weighing about 15lbs.  Nala was found as a stray in Mexico.  Our of our wonderful rescue partners down south was asked to take her in.  We knew Nala would find a wonderful home here in Colorado, so we agreed to accept Nala here in Colorado.  Nala has been here for a couple weeks now, and the most amazing, easy going girl.  She gets along great with all dogs big and small.  She absolutely loves to snuggle with her foster parents and give kisses.  She is doing well with potty training and follows the other dogs lead.  She is getting more and more playful with the dogs dogs in the foster home and is really just turning into the most amazing little girl.   If you are interested in adopting Nala, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2587250##

Story
This tiny little fighter was born with a significant heart murmur, so he will need an adopter who is able to provide for him financially if heart surgery (PDA) is the route of health he needs in the future. Grayson is a tiny 2 pound 1 oz, 8 week old male, purebred miniature schnauzer. He is full of life and loves pouncing on toys, getting snuggles, and giving kisses. He is bound to melt your heart with his teeny fighter spirit and itty bitty kisses. Generally, the course of action for a heart murmur is watch and wait, and see how he is doing at 6 months and again at one year. This, of course, will need to be overseen buy a vet. If at either time surgery is necessary, it will be a few thousand dollars and up for the needed repair. Grayson's adopter will need to be able to take on this financial responsibility upon adopting, but the rescue can offer advice on doctors and possible protocols if desired! If you have the heart to help this itty bitty cutie apply for Grayson!

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZnVouAvph-c Axle is a young adult boy who weighs about 40 lbs. He is the absolute sweetest boy who loves cuddles and gets along great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. He is very calm and only gets excited when you direct your attention towards him. He doesn't jump or paw at you. In the video he was terrified in a shelter with a 100 dogs barking so that level of excitement is not his normal. He has wavy/curly hair but it's soft, not wiry. He is an absolute gem. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative).
