Sugarland is a sweet momma that has taken great care of her babies. Her babies are ready to be on their own and momma has earned some much needed relaxation until she is ready for her spay surgery. Look at this sweet boy, right here! His name is Chip, and he was rescued after wandering a neighborhood for weeks, having apparently been dumped. He is believed to be a Plott Hound mix; and, at approximately a year-and-a-half, he weighs in at 57 pounds. He has been wormed, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Chip is good with other dogs, and even does well with cats! He appears to prefer ladies, but warms up nicely to men with just a little time. He walks well on-leash, he's crate trained, and house training is coming along nicely! His foster Mom says that Chip thinks he's a lap dog much of the time; and full of fun the rest of the time. Loves to see the squirrels...he wants to play, but they just bark at him! He takes treats from you fingers ever so gently and is a great snuggle buddy on the couch and in the bed! Chip lives to please, and responds quickly to both praise and reprimand. This boy just wants to be loved!! This attractive girl is Bozzly, a Plott Hound that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 2/17. Bozzly was adopted from our shelter 9/2020. She weighs approx 75 pounds, is about 5 years old and is spayed. One of our volunteers has spent a lot of time with this girl and has the following to say about her: Bozzly LOVES walks and does quite well on a leash. She does not appear to be dog reactive. She is high-spirited and energetic. Bozzly will jump on you so this is a behavior that needs to be corrected. She is crate trained. She is friendly, affectionate and enjoys receiving loving attention. She sits nicely for treats and takes them gently. Our volunteer feels she would be best suited for a person or family that is active and would undoubtedly enjoy walks, runs and jogs. She would benefit from some obedience training, daily playtime and exercise. However, this investment of time and effort would doubtless result in a loyal and loving companion. Her former owner reported that she lived with and was ok with dogs, cats and did well with their 4 year old child. He also stated that she was an outdoors dog only. Bozzly would like for her new home to be one in which she will spend some time inside with her people in order to feel an important part of the family.
