Story
Meet Pori! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 6 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Pori and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app July 25, 2024, 5:02 pm

Story
Denver is a little Pomeranian Chihuahua mix (PomCHi) who was ONCE a stray on the streets. He was suffering from lack of food and his coat was falling out in patches. Gradually months of good food and a bubbly bath and haircut his bald spots have filled in and the Fluff is coming back in his super soft coat. His tail is a little raggedy but is beginning to fill in too. His soulful eyes tell you his story of loneliness and neglect only a neglected dog can tell. Now Denver is friendly happy and playful and loves to eat his breakfast and supper, gobbling down Fresh Pet which is his favorite along with Chicken I cook for him. We think he is about 10-12 pounds and 8 yrs old , He has a bit of arthritis going on in his back legs but it does not hinder him in any way. HE IS NOT TOO HIGH ENERGY AND WILL MAKE A GREAT LAP DOG AS A SENIOR COMPANION. This small dog will be a wonderful companion for anyone who will give back all the love he will bestow on you. He loves to go outside, will potty and come back in.. We had him checked by our vet and he now has all his shots, neutered and microchipped. His Adoption fee is $250. Please ask for our adoption application by emailing Alphadogpetrescue@Yahoo.com DENVER IS IN FOSTER CARE NEAR RANCHO CUCAMONGA

Story
Leo the Lion is a loveable 2 year old Pomeranian mix. He was surrendered by his former owners and was fortunate enough to find his way on to The Rescue Train. He is a sweet, funny dog that likes to cuddle, going on long walks and carrying around his favorite Nylabone. Although Leo is hearing impaired, he is very smart. He was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and his seizures are being controlled with phenobarbital. His foster took lessons with a trainer that specializes in deaf dogs so an adopter experienced with deaf/special needs dogs is a plus. He walks well on leash and is very good at maintaining eye contact so he knows when to safely cross the street. He doesn't bark very often, but he does bark very loudly so an apartment would not suit him. He interacts well with other dogs but doesn't necessarily initiate play and sometimes just likes to just watch from the sidelines. His adopter will be required to take a minimum of 2 lessons with his trainer, which are included in his adoption donation. --- If you are interested in adopting LEO THE LION please fill out our adoption application by clicking this LINK. Applications are required PRIOR to meeting one of our animals and are used to set up a safe and successful adoption. Please don't be shy and answer the questions thoroughly.
