BREED-Rat Terrier Mix; SEX-Male; SIZE-Small; WEIGHT-13 lbs.; AGE-Approximately 4 Years; SPAY/NEUTER-Yes; HOUSETRAINED-Currently Uses Doggie Door; GOOD WITH KIDS-Yes; GOOD WITH DOGS-Yes; GOOD WITH CATS-Unknown; HISTORY-Rescued From A Local Shelter; ADOPTION FEE-$250   Gus is truly one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. He has a calm, easygoing nature, and his idea of a perfect day is simply being close to his person—curled up in your lap or resting quietly by your side. Gus greets everyone with joy and genuine happiness, and his gentle presence has a way of making you feel instantly loved. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and warmly welcomes new fosters into his home with a kind and patient spirit. Gus does have an autoimmune condition that causes some crusting around his eyes and the sides of his mouth. This means he will need a little extra daily care, including gently cleaning his eyes and mouth with a warm cloth, as well as taking daily medication. The medication is quite manageable, with an average monthly cost of about $20. With this simple routine, Gus remains comfortable and continues to thrive. If you’re looking for a truly special dog—one who will return your love with endless affection and quiet companionship—Gus may be the perfect match for you.March 7, 2026, 2:41 pm

Story
Niko is truly the "best of both worlds"—a born lap dog with a lively interest in being active outdoors. This unique-looking 7-year-old is chock-full of an especially endearing personality. He is playful, loves car rides, tolerates baths well, and is cooperative when getting his harness on. In the home, Niko is generally low-maintenance. He is a gentleman indoors with perfect potty habits; he isn’t a particularly picky eater, can be trusted to roam free when alone, and loves a special spot to look out the window. Niko takes his role as a "watchdog" seriously and will alert you to noises at the door. While he can be vocal, he can respond well to a "quiet" command—even if he insists on getting the last word with some adorable, under-the-breath "woofs!" Niko's favorite activities are: being near you when you are seated, though not underfoot elsewhere; alternating brisk walks with exploratory sniffing; going to the dog park regularly; running around the house once a day hoping someone will chase him; and hiding parts of treats in couch cushions and his dog bed. While he occasionally enjoys a quick "zoomie" at the park, he spends most of his time patrolling the perimeter and investigating new scents, dogs, and people. He is comfortable around dogs of all sizes and respectful children aged 6 and older. However, Niko does feel it is necessary at times to correct dogs he perceives as having an unbalanced energy, or those who get too close to his person and the dogs he considers his friends. Because Niko can be sensitive to the busyness of parking lots, weekly landscapers, and frequent delivery trucks, he is looking for a detached home with his own yard. Niko is a smart, sweet, charming boy, a cuddle bug, and an outdoor enthusiast; but most of all, he is a loving little guy who needs a loving home. ##2280678##

Story
Poppy is a sweet and very submissive 25-pound Jack Russell/Dachshund mix; she is 4 years old. Poppy’s favorite three things in the world are 1) her people, and 2) treats, and 3) small stuffed toys, with which she will play Fetch endlessly. Poppy gets along well with smaller dogs, but she cannot be in a home with a larger dog (explanation below). First and foremost, Poppy LOVES her people. She looks forward to TV time so she can sit beside them on the couch, or on a lap if she can sneak up. She loves to have her head scratched, her butt scritched and her tummy rubbed. If you happen to tell her what a pretty girl she is while doing any of these, she will be a picture of perfect doggy contentment. Poppy has her manners down. She is house-trained and totally non-destructive. You give her free reign of the house and will come back to find everything as you left it. Poppy rarely barks. When Foster Dogmom (or Dogdad) come home, she does an adorable Doggy Dance of Joy. She is very submissive towards other dogs and has zero aggression in her. And—bonus points!—she likes to be dressed up, as you can see from the photos. Since she was born, Poppy has lived in a house with large dogs. Unfortunately, recently they have started picking on her. Because she is so submissive, she doesn’t fight back or run away. She just tolerates them beating on her and cries. Her family had to keep her sequestered in a bedroom by herself when they were not home to intervene. For this reason, we agreed to re-home her. She likes and will play with smaller dogs, but we don’t want her in a home with larger dogs. Poppy would do equally well in a house or an apartment, with a senior or single, a couple, or a family so long as the children as older. She is such a sweet girl and deserves a living situation where she is not stressed. Poppy is spayed, has all her shots, and is microchipped. She is heartworm-negative. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
