Story
Where are our Rottie lovers?? Yes, we know she is a mix but she is beautiful! Blossom is a 1–2-year-old, 45 pound, black and tan, Rottweiler / Shepherd mix? She came out of the orchards that is a popular dumping ground. Thankfully, she sought help from a nice family that has fostered for AFC before! She is a very smart girl and AFC appreciates the foster family. She is shy but sweet. Can you help her blossom into her best self? She appears to be leashed trained and walks well on the leash. She rides well in the car. We don’t know anything about her past but we want to be sure she has a great future! She is an indoor dog and needs outside privileges. Please be a home owner with a securely fenced yard. Breed / Medium size dog experience is preferred. Unknown with cats. She is scheduled to be spayed but we are looking for her home now. She is microchipped and currently vaccinated. Blossom is waiting to join you for all life’s adventures! Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link. Story
My name is Cookies. My human friends call me a gentle giant because I weigh around 90 pounds but think I am a lap dog. I am a sweet, affectionate, treat motivated dog. I know "shake" and will happily give kisses. I am good with other dogs too. I'm being boarded in a kennel in Martinez. But they are shutting down and I'll soon be displaced so urgently need a foster or adoptive home. Food, supplies, and medical care will be covered for any foster. If you want to meet me, you can contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. ** This is a courtesy listing. **

Story
Puppies don't come any sweeter than Iris! Iris is a 2.5-month-old bundle of love who is an affectionate girl eager for attention. She loves belly rubs and will never turn down some playtime with her favorite people. She is a little shy, but once she gets comfortable, she's ready to take on the world! Iris currently weighs around 15lbs and likely will be 50-60lbs when fully grown. Iris was born in foster care with her 8 sisters after her mom, Daffodil, was found as a very pregnant stray. An owner never came forward, so the puppies were born in foster care and separated into foster homes as pairs when weaned. Iris has been fostered with her sister, Violet, but they are looking for individual adoptive homes. Iris's mom appears to be a rottweiler mix. We don't know who the dad is, but based on the puppies' looks, our best guess is he is a long-haired German Shepherd mix. Iris is a smart girl who has already learned to sit for her meals. She is looking for an active family who can provide her with lots of daily exercise and mental enrichment. She still needs to learn all of her basic manners, so her new family will need to be dedicated to continuing her training and socialization.  Iris currently lives in a foster home with both large and small dogs and seems like she would love another playful medium/large dog in her new home. She also could do well as an only child with lots of opportunities for socialization with other dogs. Iris lives with cats in her foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats in her new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Iris lives with older kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Iris has been doing well with her housetraining using a dog door, but she is still learning and her new family will need to be consistent about her house training. She has done well being crated overnight and being left in a pen with her sister when home alone. She hasn't spent too much time by herself, so she would need a family who can slowly get her acclimated to being home alone. Iris is such a special girl and is eager for her forever family. If you think that might just be you, submit an adoption application today!   Iris's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.
