Story
We have two new Rottweilers in our program, Bear and Archie who are brothers. They were born on November 8, 2022 so still pretty young. We will be finding them each their own home unless we get lucky and find a home that can take both of them. Bear and Archie have been with their owner since they were tiny puppies. Their family dynamics has changed as their senior mother is having to move in with them and there is too much of a fall risk for her with two large dogs. They are between 130 and 140 pounds with Bear being the largest. They are a tad spoiled in that they love to sleep with their owner and are quick to roll over for belly rubs. Bear is a little better at walking on a leash than Archie. They haven’t had much exposure outside their home as they live on 2 acres of land and enjoy that life. They are housebroken and love their squeaky toys. Bear tends to follow you room to room and is probably more confident than Archie yet Archie seems to be a little more chill and a bit more shy than Bear. We will be posting some new photos soon. If you would like an adoption application, EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET. This is the BEST way to get an application and to get the ball rolling! We have foster homes in several areas. We do have transport available.

Story
We'd like to introduce a very special guy looking for a forever home - say hello to Pierre! This handsome 1 year old, 45lb Rottweiler mix, was living as a stray until he found his way to the shelter. After his mandatory stray hold period with our friends at Dallas Animal Services didn't turn up an owner, we made Pierre ours and set him up with a wonderful foster in TX! Now here's where things get a little complicated: after we rescued him, Pierre tested positive for heartworm, a disease prevalent in the Southern US that can be fatal if not treated. Of course we immediately started him treatment and he's doing great! But heartworm positive dogs are not legally allowed to travel into New York state until they have a negative test, which typically takes at least 6 months and sometimes over a year after treatment is completed. Because of his heartworm status, we're hoping to find Pierre a family outside of NY - and we'd love to find this guy a forever home in Dallas or the broader Northeast Pierre is an extremely loving and friendly pup who would bring endless amounts of joy to any home. He also LOVES other dogs and is an overall delight. His foster mom absolutely adores him and has done an amazing job of getting him ready for his new home. Pierre is now ready for his happily ever after! Approved adopters interested in Pierre can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you're not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Percy (AL) is a male Rottweiler/Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix rescued in Alabama. Our veterinary partner estimates that Percy is 6 years old at the time of intake in June 2023. Percy is good with people and other dogs. Percy is the sweetest boy ever, yet that didn't stop some monster from dumping Percy by tossing him out of a car. Fortunately for Percy, he was tossed right into our rescue and he has now received the medical care he required for a nasty wound behind his ear. Percy is friendly and happy, but because he thinks his purpose in life is to rid the world of cats, he will need a cat-free home. And to be super cautious, any doggy siblings must be bigger than a cat! The next car Percy gets into will be the first leg of his happy ever after. If you would like Percy's happy ever after to be lived in your home as a member of your family, please apply online to adopt Percy (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.   RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. POPPERS was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 30 October 2023. POPPERS is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of January 2023 and on has an estimated weight of 33 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue      YouTube channel      and      photo albums on our Facebook page      to see a LOT of pictures and videos. POPPERS is an absolute sweetheart, brimming with affection and love with the sweetest, gentle "old soul" type personality. He can come across like a couch potato but he loves to run and wrestle with his friends. When he was in the kennels he did gain some weight, which now he is more active he is losing them - but it is important for his family to be aware to keep him active to keep those dangerous pounds off. POPPERS is a top favourite with everyone he meets. He is a hard chewer of toys and anything other than tough chewing toys he will destroy - red kongs are like scooby snacks to him lol He has been around adults of all ages, shapes and sizes, small children and people with special needs and was gentle and loving.  He is responsive and is happy to show anyone he meets lots of love. He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. POPPERS is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $250. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats.
