Story
Drako is a 4 Year Old Boxer Pitbull mix. He is an extremely funny, loving, kind, caring dog who needs someone to give him the time he deserves. He does have some trauma from when he was a puppy, he was bit by other dogs that were being fostered and developed a fear. We went to training but it does take him time to open up. I have two pitbulls, who both need more attention from me, and I believe, in the right home, Drako will be a lot happier. If you’re looking for a dog who will go anywhere with you, that will cuddle you and can keep you on your toes, he is definitely the dog for you. I would love someone experienced since he does have some trauma but he loves any and all people. He is perfect for the adventurous owner! Great on hikes, runs and long walks.

Story
Meet Oscar! Oscar is a 4-year-old Boxer/Mountain Cur mix with a shiny black-and-tan coat and bright, expressive eyes that seem to smile when he’s happy. Medium-sized at about 53 pounds, he’s an athletic and affectionate companion who loves to be outside, explore new scents, and play in the leaves. Oscar is smart, eager to please, and bonds deeply with his people. He thrives on routine, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement. Once he trusts you, he’s incredibly loyal and will happily curl up near you after a good walk or play session. Oscar has been working with a veterinary behaviorist for anxiety and fear-based behaviors. He does best in a calm, structured home without children, where his boundaries can be respected and he can feel secure. He’s currently on a behavior-support plan (including medication and training) that has helped him relax and enjoy life more. His ideal adopter will be someone experienced with dogs who have anxiety or fear issues, and who can continue his care with patience and consistency. In the right home, Oscar will reward that patience with love, devotion, and plenty of happy tail wags. If you’re interested in giving Oscar the calm, understanding home he deserves, please reach out to Jeremy at oscar_email@icloud.com to learn more about this sweet boy and the next steps. Oscar’s owners are committed to finding him the right home and are willing to travel a significant distance to help ensure a successful placement. If you’re interested but not local, please send them an email.

Story
Meet Barnadine! Barnadine is a handsome 4.5-month-old brindle Boxer mix with the sweetest personality to match his beautiful coat. Now weighing about 25 pounds (as of 4/3), he’s growing into the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and cuddly companion. This lovable boy enjoys spending time outside and has been exploring the yard on leash — he absolutely loves being outdoors! He’s playful and happy to entertain himself, but when he’s tired, his favorite place is curled up in a lap or resting by your feet, soaking up all the snuggles he can get. He’s truly a “lovable mush” at heart. Barnadine loves everybody he meets and brings a gentle, easygoing energy wherever he goes. Barnadine is: ✔️ Great with dogs ✔️ Good with kids and adults of all ages ✔️ Crate trained (will sleep in his crate at night and go in when needed, though he’d much rather be with his people!) ✔️ Puppy pad trained (he doesn’t ask to go out yet, but gives cues and is working on bell training!) ✔️ Walking nicely on leash ✔️ Very gentle and easygoing He loves toys, treats, pets, and affection — basically, he loves everything! He rarely barks, doesn’t shed much, travels well, and has shown no resource guarding or behavioral concerns. He’s currently working on his basic commands and is eager to learn. Barnadine would thrive in a home ready for puppy fun, continued training, and lots of cuddle time. With his affectionate nature and playful spirit, he’s going to grow into an amazing companion. If you’re looking for a sweet brindle boy who will happily play, entertain himself, and then snuggle up right next to you, Barnadine is your guy. Story
Meet Jimmy,(fka King) a charming and affectionate six-year-old pup who’s truly as majestic as his name suggests. This sweet, handsome boy was on the list to be euthanized and we were fortunate enough to save him minutes before it was too late. Surrendered through no fault of his own, Jimmy was deeply loved by his previous family, who made the difficult decision to rehome him after moving in to care for elderly parents. This loyal boy has known nothing but love and kindness and is now hoping to find his next forever home—one where he can once again be someone’s best friend, hiking buddy, and devoted shadow.Jimmy is the perfect blend of playful and chill. He's housebroken, crate trained, and knows all his basic commands—including “sit,” “stay,” “wait,” and “leave it.” He’s got great leash manners, walking at a calm, easy pace with only the occasional tug when something especially exciting (like a stray cat!) crosses his path. He’s easily redirected with a gentle voice or treat and always eager to please. Speaking of treats, he loves them :) Jimmy’s previous owner stated that he was attacked by two dogs before coming into the shelter (see his adorably wonky ear). He’s been getting along great with the dogs he’s met in foster, but if you have another dog a meet and greet is required to make sure it’s a good match. Jimmy loves to play with his toys and would be great with older kids. He would make a wonderful addition to a lucky family To see Jimmy's full profile with more pictures, please visit wagtopia.com or @shelterchic or @jimmy_shelterchic ##2396060##

Story
Ethan - 4.5 months & 14lbs, Boxer/Terrier Mix, Spayed Estimated to be about 40lbs full grown Our Team Says: Ethan is an incredibly lucky parvo survivor! No long term health implications just bragging rights!  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2709532##

Story
Max is a loving six months old old baby. My mom rescued him from a person that was abusing him. Despite this Max is still trusting of humans and loves them. He is a sweet, smart, curious and loves to play. Doesn’t bite, is great on walks and very friendly. He needs someone with plenty of time for long walks and lots of play. I'm would keep him if it wasn’t for my schedule and lack of experience with bigger dogs. He does get upset when he is left alone but I am confident, trust can be built. I am willing to foster him until I can find the perfect home for him.
