Mirage is a beautiful, sweet and young Rottweiler mix.  She was neglected before being rescued and transported to NJ to find a better life.  She needs a quiet home and is pretty lowkey.  She would NOT do well in a city like environment. She would do best with people that have patience and will give her time to acclimate to her new home so her wonderful personality can come out.  Once Mirage feels safe, she loves to play, run around, go for car rides and cuddle!  She is DOG SELECTIVE, so she would need proper/slow introduction to any dogs.  NO CATS! Meet Billy. He was surrendered to animal care along with his baby mamma and her litter of puppies when his previous owner was no longer able to care for the family. What a great boy! Billy is a lovable sweetheart. He knows sit, walks well on a leash and is gentle when taking treats. Billy gets along well with other dogs; we do not know what he thinks about cats. Billy is about 5 years old and 66 pounds. Please help Billy find the loving home that he deserves. Update: Billy tested positive for Lyme's. He is currently on a short course of oral antibiotic and is doing very well. The remaining dose of medication can be sent home with his new family for completion. Billy is currently available for adoption We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Kiya is a beautiful and affectionate Rottie mix girl. She is very cuddly and affectionate. She loves to curl up with you on the couch. For being young, she is very low energy. Her favorite thing is to lay around and just chew on one of her toys or bones. She gets along great with other dogs, but she doesn’t have much interest in playing with them, she would rather just hang out. She does like to play with her foster mom. She would be fine living with other dogs or as an only dog. She loves to chase squirrels and chipmunks and chasing tennis balls is her favorite thing to do. She also loves her squeaky toys. She’s easily entertained and very goofy. She is crate trained and house broken. She loves her crate. Her current foster crates her at night and also when she is not at home. She will bark at strangers that are outside the house, but she’s fine once they walk in the door. She loves men and women. She loves to go for walks and sniff everything. She walks well most of the time but pulls at times when she sees a squirrel or chipmunk. She does well with 2Hounds harness and would do even better with more training. She loves to sniff and finding all the new smells in the yard and in the neighborhood are one of her favorite things to do. She is obedient and listens most of the time but gets a little hard of hearing if you’re calling her and she’s sniffing out a chipmunk in the yard. She does well in a fenced yard, but if there are gaps, she will squeeze through one. She always comes back, but she needs a secure fence so that she doesn’t get out. She has shown resource guarding with her food and the other dogs in her foster home. She has growled and barked at them when they came near her food. For this reason, her foster feeds her in her kennel. Kiya is fine with this. We don’t know how she would be with resource guarding with humans, because her foster has never tried it. Her foster is able to put her food bowl in her crate and close the door with her in it at meal time. She is easily distracted when you has something she’s guarding. You can throw her tennis ball and she’ll chase it and leave what she is guarding. She takes treats gently. Because she resource guards, we are not going to place her in a home with small children. She would do wonderfully in a home with adults and teens. She loves people. She is the perfect low-key dog. Age: 1.5 years Weight: 55 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines Temperament: good with bigger kids and other dogs but must feed separately. Training: House trained, crate trained. Welcome to the cereal crew. These little beauties were surrendered to the shelter and we took them under the stipulation that we would spay the mother. So we got all of the puppies. The mother is full blooded Rottweiler but we have no idea what the father is. These little guys are cute and full of love and fun. They just need a family to love them so they can have a good chance at being a family member of a nice family that they can give all of their love to as well. Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. Lucy is a beautiful little Boxer mix girl, about 10 years old and 40 lbs, who loves going for walks and playing outdoors.  She’s had a fair amount of training and knows her basic commands, but as with any dog, she could use an owner who will keep up her training. Lucy is cautious upon meeting new people but once she trusts you, her loving side shines through.  She has a strong personality that requires an experienced dog owner. Lucy loves to go for rides in the car, walks at the park, swimming, playing with her toys, and spending time with her favorite volunteers. She has spent far too long waiting for her forever family to come along (almost 7 years in the shelter...). Violet Beauregarde Lonestar is 5 years old and 60 lbs and was saved from a Texas shelter with minutes to spare!  She has a bunch of energy so would benefit from an active owner. Violet is good with dogs but prefers if the other pooch knows some manners! She does great in the car and is an excellent walker, even likes to go running. Although this beautiful girl is sweet and cuddly, she can tend to get over excited at times - so, children should be older/considerate.  She needs an owner who will provide her with rules and has some dog experience. Violet is a sweet happy girl who would like a quiet home to live in with not a lot of visitors. Are you looking for a smart, eager to learn, affectionate big lap dog!? Look no further. Rocky is your guy! At 3 years old and 60 lbs, this guy thinks he is still a puppy. Rocky is incredibly smart and knows several unique commands such as spin around & roll over, but he knows the basics, too, like Sit, Down, Stay, Eat & Speak. Rocky likes other dogs and would probably benefit from living with one as he can be a little insecure at times. He loves his friends and enjoys meeting new ones at the park or the vet. He does however like to protect his home so he prefers a more controlled introduction to new people for that. He has also lived with older children (6 & 12 years old) and did well with them. Rocky sleeps in his crate quietly all night. And he's smart enough to let you know when he needs to use the outdoor restroom by whining. He's good in the yard & doesn't try to jump the fence - he does love to play ball, too. He's young so he would love to have a home where he'd get exercised.
