Story
Luna is a sweetheart who loves belly rubs and forehead scritches. She has an unending need for love and will let you know she wants more pets! Luna has bursts of high energy, followed by a need for good long nap. She is food motivated and will do just about anything for some pork or apples. Luna trains well and is intelligent. She's eager to please and needs someone who can give her the love and affection she deserves. Luna was unexpectedly gifted to us as a puppy. We love her so much but it's not a good fit. She craves having us around and we just aren't home enough to give her the support she needs. Luna would do best in a home with someone who is home frequently and available for walks and play time. Luna has never liked men and will bark at and shy away from them, but does fine once she is introduced and gets to know them.

Story
Meet Norte Foster notes: My foster mom calls me "Goose" because she says Im "gonna be the best wingman!" and that im "a silly goose!" I am shy but curious, and still discovering the world. I warm up quickly especially to woman and kiddos, but men are cool too just takes a few more minutes. I love shredding my stuffed toys, chewing bones and chasing tennis balls. I love to explore, a lot! Especially when I smell something interesting I will follow my nose. I know my name(Goose), come (almost always), sit, wait, down, off, I'm learning leave it, but I can be stubborn, I know how to heel & am great on a leash. Im crate trained but again can be stubborn about going to sleep if im in the mood to play. All dogs are my friends, and Im quiet and calm when approaching while respecting their space and response. I love cats too, but maybe too much, they dont like playing chase but I sure do. So I probably shouldn't live with most cats, however a very dog friendly savvy cat might be ok. My prey drive is pretty keen and I just wanna meet everything unfortunately that come across scary when you're a cat, chicken, rabbit, etc. I have not shown any food aggression, or any kind of resource guarding. My foster brother and sister both enjoy playing chase and running with me, so i think id like to live with another dog that i can play with and/or an active human. However after I run it out and burn off some of that puppy energy I love snuggling up on the couch with my people   an 11-month-old, 65lb Rottweiler mix with the sweetest baby face, kind eyes, and a gentle soul that should be worrying about toys and naps… not losing his life Norte is just a puppy! A little shy, a little unsure, but so incredibly cute, soft, and sweet. He has that kind of innocence that makes you want to protect him instantly. You can see how badly he wants to connect, he just needs someone to show him the world isn’t scary. Once he starts to warm up, Norte becomes playful, affectionate, and curious about life. He allows all over petting, did great off leash with a female dog, and did well on leash with a male dog (unfortunately the leash itself makes him nervous). With a little confidence building, patience, and basic obedience training, Norte is going to grow into the absolute best version of himself. He’s a sensitive baby with so much potential. ##2661081##

Story
Bear is a 4 year old Doberman Labrador mix. Up to date on his shots, he’s chipped as well as neutered. No medical issues. He’s a very sweet boy, great with other dogs, kids, and loves all people. He needs a home with a big backyard and a lot of space to run. He has a prey drive so no small animals - he will chase squirrels, skunks, possums etc and bark at deer and livestock. He is good with my cats but I would introduce him to new cats gradually and with caution. He doesn’t do well by himself so ideally he should go to a home with at least one other dog or someone who is home most of the time. He loves love and will cuddle with you all day if you let him. He knows quite a few commands and I’ve been working with him on learning tricks. His favorite game is tug o war but he doesn’t like playing it with other dogs, he loves to wrestle with other dogs though and always has a blast at dog parks. He’s good on a leash and loves going for car rides. He’s good about not running out into the road and has pretty good recall  If you are interested in this hunk of love, please apply for him here: https://form.jotform.com/60136667457159 ##1785505##

**All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** Meet Mushu Russell, approx 2-3yrs old, neutered male, Rottweiler/Husky Mix of a Mix. Mushu is incredibly smart, loves routine, eager to learn. He is learning about other dogs and how to interact. His ideal home would be a person with Rottweiler knowledge, a fenced backyard, someone he can go on adventures, like hiking with, he loves going jogging, he goes 3-4 times a week now. He knows sit, stay leave-it, kennel, he is house trained and is working on leash manners. He is often shy at first but warms up quickly with a squeaky toy. My adoption fee is $200

Story
HI - I'M MORGAN, and I'm a large (90-pound-plus) 7-year-old male Rottweiler in need of a foster or forever home. I've been waiting quite awhile for the right person or people to come along. I'm a very loyal Rottie and will be loving and protective to my person. I especially love women though would do fine with the right guy. I'm not fond of farm animals, and I'm also not a fan of some veterinarians. I do have some arthritis, so stairs do not work for me. I'm also bit flat-footed, though I get around fine. I currently take inexpensive glucosamine dog treats, which help greatly. Rottweiler or big-dog experience is essential! I would do best with a single person or a couple who wants a loyal companion and who has experience with the breed. I would also do best in a quiet home where my person or people are my world. I have done fine with some dogs, but will thrive as the only dog in the home. I'm currently in California but can be transported to Oregon. Please email for an application.

Story
HI - I'M PHOENIX! I'm a handsome and healthy 10-year-old Rottie-Dobie mix in need of a foster or forever home. I lost my previous foster home due to no fault of mine, and I really miss having people around to snuggle and take me for walks and other outings. A little bit about me: I was rescued from a shelter a couple years ago, where I was a shelter favorite, and am currently waiting for someone to adopt me. I weigh about 80 lbs. Despite my age, I am active and I'm a very loving dog. I'll do well with an active person or people who can take me for walks and hikes. I have many positive traits - I am affectionate, I walk well on a leash, and I am a loyal and sweet dog. I will be your best friend for life. I also prefer to have my person or people around, but that can be expected of most dogs! I am not a barker unless it is warranted. I can also be a bit protective of my people and our property, which can be a good thing. While I get along with dogs I know (especially female dogs around my size), I can be reactive on a leash toward dogs I don't know. However, I really do like female dogs - I currently love to hang out and go on walks with my girlfriend Darla, a Doberman. And I love human attention and affection - I am affectionate and caring. I'd do well with a strong owner, too. Please email for an application. I'm currently still in Southern California, but can be transported to Portland. Please email for an application and additional photos.

Story
Meet Dukota — a handsome Boxer boy with the perfect mix of goofy charm and affectionate companionship! Like many Boxers, Dukota has a fun-loving, bouncy personality and enjoys getting out for walks, playtime, and plenty of exercise. At the shelter, he’s been playful and entertaining, often showing off his zoomies and keeping everyone smiling. Once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy, he’s more than happy to settle in for cuddles and quality time with his favorite people. This athletic guy has a silly streak that makes him a joy to be around. Whether he’s bouncing around the yard, making goofy faces, or leaning in for affection, Dukota brings plenty of personality wherever he goes. He thrives in a predictable home where he can feel comfortable and secure. Because he can get overstimulated around young, boisterous children, he would do best with older children or in an adult-only home.Dukota can be selective with his canine friends. However, he previously lived successfully with other dogs and did well during playtimes at the shelter with a sweet female dog. He would likely do best either as the only dog in the home or with friendly, well-matched dogs given slow and proper introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a goofy streak, a playful spirit, and a heart full of love, Dukota may just be your perfect match! If you are interested in meeting Dukota, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm (Summer Hours).
