Story
Sable is a verrrrrry well trained high energy girl who would love a home that takes her walking/running/hiking and plays fetch and ball with her! She listens wonderfully and does best with laid back dogs that enjoy goofing off with her. She is currently in a home where the owners work multiple jobs leaving little time for her and even less time for good hard fun. Life is boring in a crate. If you are looking for a fun sidekick to join you in lots of activities, please apply! She would be over the moon to live the life she craves! contact irondawgs13@gmail.com for adoption application.

Story
Bruno has been through a lot. I adopted him at 3 months old, where he was microchipped and neutered. I adopted him from Arkansas. He traveled by bus with many other dogs. When I picked him up in Maryland, he was shaking from his journey. I brought him down to Richmond (where I was living in a townhouse with three roommates and a pit bull terrier). Now he is a happy, very well-behaved dog who enjoys running outside or cuddled up on the couch. Bruno will be 4 years old this upcoming Cinco de Mayo. I am moving abroad in January and must find a suitable home for him. He is very timid but has never shown any sign of aggression to any person or dog. Bruno is laid back, goofy, fully house-trained, and would do well in a family where someone is mostly home.

I am a young, playful soul always ready for a game of fetch or a brisk walk. I am also pretty smart, as I am quick to learn new tricks, and eager to please. I am a bit dominant around other dogs but I am working hard on some additional socialization so I understand how to behave around other doggies. By the way, besides people, I am also cat-friendly. My fun-loving spirit is infectious and I'm sure to bring joy to any home. Will you be the lucky one to welcome Lollie into your home?Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. Story
male, approx. 2 years old, 40 lbs Personality: outgoing, eager-to-please, affectionate, adventurous, goofy/funny, loyal, snuggler, rambunctious, energetic, and good running partner. Archer is a snuggly boy who absolutely loves the dog park, play time, and going on long walks - every day is a new adventure for him. His foster says that it's hard not to be happy when Archer is around. He is also a master of sleeping and cuddling: after his morning walk, he curls up on the couch or back in his crate to take a long day's nap. If you're in a couch potato mood and prefer to stay in for the day, Archer is more than happy to cuddle with you as you watch your favorite movie or TV show. Archer loves to meet new people and especially loves his toys and outdoor time - he does well on a leash and makes a great running partner, too! This smart boy has learned house training and tons of words, like paw, sit, down, heel, drop it, wait, spin, and come. Archer is protective of his toys, so he'd do best in a home without young kids. Are you seeking a loyal, loving, energetic pup to be your companion on adventures near and far? Apply today to meet your new best friend Archer! _____________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Leo is currently being housed at Kenhaven Animal Hospital. He's been with us since July 1, 2024. He deserves a home. He's a very sweet guy. His owner had a medical emergency and hasn't been able to care for Leo. He is a 6 year-old, neutered male, pit bull. Long walks- he's your guy. Snuggles on the couch- he's your guy. He's great with cats but needs slow introductions with other dogs. He knows basic commands and is a big goof.

Story
AUTUMN Female, spayed 3-1/2 years old Pit bull terrier 60 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Follow Autumn on Instagram at #lovepaws_autumn Autumn was incredibly emaciated when she first arrived at the shelter, just skin and bones. As soon as we saw how bad her condition was, we knew we had to get her out of the shelter and into a loving foster home where she'd get 3 square meals a day and soft dog beds to recover in. She's pretty low energy and mostly sleeps the day away. Autumn is super sweet, incredibly chill and snuggly. She's not into playing with toys (maybe this is the first time she's had them and she's not sure what to do?), but loves a walk. She wants to be with her people all the time, but is also happy to be in her crate when home alone. Her favorite pastime is couch snuggles with her humans. Interested in adopting? Of course you are! CALVIN (watch my video!) Male, neutered 1-1/2 years old American Bulldog mix 54 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Needs a yard with a tall fence Calvin is an irresistibly charming snuggle bug with a penchant for frozen peanut butter Kongs and Kong Wubba toys! His tastes are not confined to specific treats - he is a connoisseur of all. With a preference for solitude, Calvin is all the dog you'll need and a perfect companion for someone seeking a single pet household. He's not a fan of feline friends, so a cat-free home would suit him best. Calvin's a star at following commands and loves engaging in stimulating activities. With a distinctive and endearing way of lying down, Calvin adds a touch of humor to everyday life. Calvin's strikingly handsome face, complemented by his super soft black and white fur, is simply impossible to resist. Inside the house, Calvin is a pretty mellow pup and the perfect snuggle companion. Calvin has mastered the art of crate training and is close to perfecting staying on “place”. Outside, Calvin is an active pup with a playful nature that is driven by his prey instincts so games of fetch can last for hours if your arm can last that long! He loves playing fetch and responds well to the “drop” command .This makes him a perfect companion for a home with a fenced yard, where he could happily chase toys to his heart's content.  If you are in search of a uniquely lovable, toy-chasing bundle of joy, then Calvin is just the canine companion you've been waiting for!      Interested in adopting?
