Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.   Email Elianasved93@gmail.com or text 919 673 0182 for more information or to adopt the pet.Tubby is a soft-hearted, sweet, 2-year-old Shar-Pei whose entire life changed on October 16th. On that day, his previous owner relinquished him into the care of one individual—not a rescue—who could not bring him home but was determined to get him the medical care and safety he had long been denied. Tubby spent years living on a front porch with painful skin issues, chronic ear infections, and eyelids that constantly rubbed his corneas. Despite that hardship, he remained gentle, quiet, and hopeful. The day he was surrendered, Tubby received a full veterinary exam at the clinic where his sponsor works, and the next morning he was neutered. On November 4th, he underwent corrective surgeries to widen his nostrils and tack his eye folds so his eyelashes no longer scratch his corneas. Thanks to this care—funded entirely by his sponsor—Tubby is finally comfortable. His skin is healing, his ears are healthy, and his vision and breathing have improved dramatically.Because his sponsor cannot house him, Tubby has been staying in temporary foster situations between Asheville and Raleigh/Cary. He has done beautifully in these homes, including one with two children and a lively household. This sweet boy is ready for stability, love, and a permanent family of his own.Tubby is rediscovering the world with fresh eyes and a curious nose. He loves sunshine, new scents, car rides, and being included in family activities. He is affectionate without being clingy—just as happy cuddling as he is relaxing nearby while you work. Tubby is house-trained, well-mannered, and easy to live with. He does not chew things, dig, get into trash, or jump on people. He rides well in the car and enjoys the company of calm, respectful dogs. He’s even gentle with puppies. Better yet, Tubby handles a bit of household activity with ease. He does not need a perfectly quiet home—only patient people who give him time to build trust and confidence. He has some visual limitations, but he moves around with enthusiasm, and his improved vision plus his excellent sense of smell make every day an adventure.Tubby would love a home that enjoys both outings and quiet time. Walks, sniffing trails, exploring new places, or simply hanging out with his people are all his favorite things. He can live with kids 10+ who understand boundaries and could enjoy a sweet, relaxed dog companion. Cats are not a fit for him. He thrives on a chicken-free diet and appreciates consistency. He takes treats gently and prefers ceramic or clear bowls. Because of his past, feeding him separately from other pets is best practice.Tubby occasionally pulls on the leash when he catches an exciting scent, so an adopter willing to continue his leash-manners training would be ideal. To ensure he transitions smoothly and stays connected to the support he may need during his adjustment, Tubby is available only in the Asheville area or the Raleigh/Cary area.Tubby is brave, forgiving, and so ready for his fresh start. If you’re looking for a soulful companion who blossoms with love and enjoys being part of family life, Tubby might be your perfect match. Contact me today by email (Elianasved93@gmail.com) or text (919-673-0182) to learn more about sweet Tubby! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. November 15, 2025, 12:33 am

Story
Midnight is a 3-year-old sweet girl who is very affectionate and seeks out human companionship. She’s been soaking up every bit of love she receives in foster care and is truly thriving now that she’s had a few days to rest in a home environment. Midnight is a low-energy gal, but we expect her confidence and energy to blossom as she settles in. For now, she’s happiest lounging on her dog bed or relaxing in the sunshine. She takes treats very gently, responds beautifully to praise, and is showing signs of being a quick learner—she loves knowing she’s a “good girl” and beams with pride when she hears it. She is showing positive, friendly body language towards dogs. She has walked alongside the resident dog & met him safely behind a baby gate with no issues. With proper introductions, she seems like she could happily coexist with another respectful dog. Midnight is housebroken, walks well on a leash, and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She also crates comfortably when her foster family is away. If you have a dog at home, we recommend bringing them to the shelter for a meet-and-greet to ensure it’s a great match! (Please bring proof of up-to-date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.) If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who just wants to be close, Midnight is ready to brighten your life with her soft heart and sweet spirit. She would be a good fit for a slower paced individual or family. She’s soaking up love right now—but she’s ready to share it with her forever family. If you’re interested in learning more or to meet sweet Midnight contact her foster at (919) 525-1684

Story
Raisin is a 6 month old Shar Pei mix with a heart of gold. Raisin was found dumped along side a country road at the age of just 3 months. He was suffering from very dry skin and a painful ear infection, yet all he would do was love on anyone willing to give him just a minute or two of their time. Raisin has been treated for his skin with medicated baths and diet. He was given antibiotics for the ear infection and with a continued at home ear cleaning routine, he has done very well. Raisin has been fully vaccinated, dewormed, neutered and microchipped. Raisin loves everyone he meets, although he may take just a little bit to warm up to them. He does great with other dogs and cats. He currently lives with other dogs weighing from 5 lbs to 140 lbs and plays well with them all. He know he can rough house with the bigger ones and some simple play time for the littles. Raisin is a very good eater and currently gets salmon oil with his meals to keep his skin healthy. He is house and potty trained with no accidents. He goes into his nighttime crate very well, knowing a small treat will follow. He knows sit and he he knows the wait command when being given a treat. He walks great on a leash and does not pull. He loves going on outings to the pet store, Lowes and the park. He rides well in the car and jumps right in. Raisin can be left out for 3-4 hours with no issues. He is currently only crated at night. He lives the play hard sleep hard lifestyle. If he's not wrestling one of his fur buddies or playing tug of war with his rope, you can usually find him curled up on the couch or his doggy bed snoring away. Please be aware of the continued care a Shar Pei tends to involve before putting in your application. Raisin is definitely worth it.
