Story
Location: Hutchinson, MN Romeo was born into the rescue. According to a sibling’s DNA test, they are 35% Shih Tzu, 26% yorkie, and 39% a combo of other toy and terrier breeds. He was adopted at 8-weeks-old but recently returned back to the Rescue Network. Romeo is a very active small dog and loves to play and chew. He will snuggle in with you for a nap. He is not house-trained and has been working on kennel-training. At night with the kennel in the bedroom, he has been quieting down and resting. He keeps his kennel clean during the day while his foster is at work. Romeo also is very food-motivated and will become a good puppy citizen with consistent training and watchful eye. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Meet Mack, a sweet and loving boy! Mack is eight years old and has beautiful, soft, silver, white and tan fur. Even though Mack has only been in his foster home since July 25th, he loves to show his foster parents the things he enjoys most in life. Mack is most happy when you are home with him and he loves to always be near you. Mack has a very sweet, playful personality. He will bond quickly with his new family, so it won’t take long for him to love you! Mack is good with older children and other dogs. He loves his squeaky balls and playing fetch with them. He will spend quite a bit of time both playing fetch with people or, quite adorably, throwing the ball to himself and continuing to play with it on his own. Mack enjoys short walks with his foster parents and Shih Tzu foster brother. Mack loves everyone he meets and is confident in greeting people by running up to them for a pet. Mack loves to please and is a smart pup who can learn quickly! He knows the commands for sit and speak. He would be happy in a home with or without another small, calm and confident dog. Mack is working on potty training and will need to continue to work on the potty training with his adopters taking him outside often and consistently to relieve himself. His foster parents take him out every few hours, and he is starting to understand "go potty”, especially when it is accompanied by a little treat! Mack is a very sweet boy who wants the perfect home and family. To ensure that, here are the requirements that his foster parents are looking for in his new family. · Mack would like a family that is experienced with dogs and will continue to help him with training and socialization. This means time devoted to his training and learning other important doggy behaviors, such as basic commands, leash walks outside, exposure to new, safe experiences, and lots of ear scratching and belly rubs. · Mack is developing cataracts and requires daily drops twice a day for the rest of his life. His adopters must be able and committed to administering the drops forever. · Mack can be in a home with another confident, small dog who will help him learn by being a role model and friend. Also, he would do well with a family with respectful children of school age. He would also do well as an only dog if he has opportunities to learn to socialize with other dogs on walks or other family activities. · Mack is not yet fully house trained. His new family needs to understand this and must take him out every couple of hours during the day. Mack does sleep all night though, without the need to go potty outside. · Mack’s new family should live within 30 miles of the south metro area. · Commit to attending the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Mack is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He is healthy, although requires eye drops twice a day for the rest of his life. . Mack’s adoption fee is $320.00 plus $28.88 in sales tax for a total of $348.88. To meet Mack, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us at the rescue’s Meet and Greet from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington, MN.

Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Calling all couch potatoes! Gemma is an 8 year old Shih Tzu who weighs a little over 13 pounds. There is nothing she loves more than to be snuggling by your side for a nap and hopefully for some soft pets! Gemma always stays close to her foster mom so she definitely needs a family that will with her most of the day. One of her favorite parts of her day is time spent outside! Gemma loves short walks outside and loves to sit in the grass to watch people passing by or to even just sniff all the glorious smells. Her foster mom thinks Gemma is perfect for a lucky adopter who wants a constant companion, indoors and out. Gemma came to into rescue because her owner had gone into hospice care. It is obvious that Gemma was well loved by her former family. She is a sweet and loving girl, who is friendly and gentle to everyone she meets. Gemma is house trained which is a real plus! She does have a little separation anxiety so she barks for a few minutes when you leave her. But then she lays down by the door to wait for your return! Gemma does have a hind leg that has a congenital deformity. The leg is very stiff and does not bend at all. However, don’t feel bad for Gemma! She doesn’t let her leg stop her from taking short walks with her foster mom or running up and down the three flights of steps in the house. Gemma will even jump up on the couch. But as she ages it would be best if she was lifted up onto furniture, so her adopters must be physically able to do so. Even now she sits and give her foster mom the Shih Tzu stare in the hopes she will be lifted up on to the couch! Gemma is a special girl who wants a perfect home and family. Here are the requirements for her new family: · Gemma needs family that is home most of the day. She can be left for short periods, such as a couple hours running errands, but needs to be with you much of the time. · She has been okay with older children who have visited her foster mom, but her permanent family should be adults only of one or two people. · Gemma gets along with her foster mom’s Shih Tzu, and would be okay living in a home with another small dog, but she would also thrive as an only dog, getting all of the attention. · Gemma is housetrained for going potty outside. She sleeps through the night in her foster mom’s bed and will want to sleep with her new family since she loves to cuddle up near your feet at night to sleep. · Family should live within 40 miles of the south metro area and commit to attending the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. · Gemma’s last and most important requirement is LOVE, lots of LOVE! She had that with her last owner, and we want to be sure she receives that for the rest of her life. We understand there are quite a few requirements for Gemma’s new family. But if you meet the requirements, you will have abundant joy with this sweet girl. Gemma is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She will have a dental on August 25th and then will be ready for her new home. Her adoption fee is $320.00 plus $28.88 in sales tax for a total of $348.88. To meet Gemma, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Story
Eugene is a charming 16-year-old Shih Tzu gentleman who has perfected the art of enjoying the good life. At this stage, he's not looking for wild adventures or long hikes—he's looking for a cozy home, a soft place to nap, a little sniff around the yard, and most importantly, someone to adore. Eugene is wonderfully affectionate and loves meeting people. He'll happily make his rounds, offering each person a polite sniff and accepting their pets, but his heart really belongs to his person. Once he's chosen you, expect a devoted little shadow who follows you from room to room and settles happily at your feet while you work, relax, or watch a movie. At 16, Eugene is understandably a low-key guy. A yard where he can wander and sniff is plenty of exercise, and while his days of long walks are behind him, his playful side is starting to peek out again. Every now and then he'll surprise you with a little senior zoomie—especially when dinner is approaching or his favorite person has just come home. Those moments of puppy spirit are pretty darn precious. Eugene has some joint pain and doesn't do stairs. If he encounters a staircase, he'll simply station himself at the bottom and bark to let you know that he'd appreciate a little assistance, please. He prefers gentle companions who understand that an old gentleman isn't interested in wrestling or being chased. Calm dogs or cats who can politely say hello and then go about their business would be much more his speed. He's also mostly deaf, so loud noises and sudden movements can occasionally startle him. When things get a little too hectic, he'll retreat to a quiet, safe spot until the excitement passes. Overall, though, Eugene is very much over the drama and has settled comfortably into his peaceful old-man lifestyle. Eugene is working on his house manners, but his aging bladder sometimes has other plans. He needs frequent opportunities to go outside and wears a belly band indoors as a backup. His foster reports that he has not had any poop accidents in the house. Eugene is a jolly little Shih Tzu who has earned every bit of comfort and kindness that comes with being a senior dog. He's ready for a calm household where he can spend his days surrounded by gentle people, modern comforts, and the person he loves most. ❤️🐾 ---- *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I f you’re looking for a gentle, devoted companion, Coco may be the perfect match. This adorable Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix is as sweet as they come and has a quiet, loving nature that makes her easy to adore. One of the cutest things about Coco is the way she walks—she has a little bunny-hop style that is guaranteed to make you smile. Coco is happiest simply being near her people. She loves companionship, whether it’s from humans or other dogs, and is content to quietly follow you from room to room throughout the day. She enjoys cuddling, relaxing nearby, and keeping an eye on her favorite people. While she can be a little shy when first meeting new people, it doesn’t take long for her to realize she’s safe. Once she does, she becomes incredibly trusting and affectionate. Coco gets along wonderfully with all dog-friendly dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion. However, she does not require another dog as long as her people are home frequently and able to provide the companionship she loves. This sweet girl enjoys soft treats, cozy places to nap, and having a comfortable spot where she can watch for her people. Her favorite setup is her kennel with the door left open or a soft blanket-filled box near the doorway where she can keep an eye on everything while waiting for her family to return. As part of her daily routine, coco receives eye drops in the vending and 1/2 tablet of Benadryl twice a day with a little canned food. She’s very cooperative and does well with this. Coco isn’t looking for excitement or adventure—she’s looking for love. She would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily life, receive plenty of affection, and spend her days close to the people she loves most. If you’re searching for a loyal little shadow with a heart of gold, Coco just might be the very best girl you’ve been waiting for.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.   Meet Isabel!  Isabel is such a precious little girl! She can be a little shy when you first approach her or go to pick her up, likely because she didn’t receive much love before coming into her foster home. But now? She’s learning to seek out all the attention, affection, and love she deserves. Don’t let her tiny size fool you—Isabel has a little feisty side, and it’s absolutely adorable! She loves food (especially CHEESE ), relaxing, and snuggling with her humans and foster dog siblings. She’s also discovering that walks can be pretty wonderful! Loud noises can still scare her, and she’s working on her leash skills, but she is being so brave and making great progress. Each day, she’s building a little more confidence and courage. Isabel would thrive with a forever family who is home often and can give her the patience, reassurance, and love she needs to feel safe and secure. She may be a tiny package, but her heart is growing bigger every day. ❤️ Could you be the forever family Isabel has been waiting for?  ChatGPT said: ChatGPT sa Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.
