Meet Oliver, the senior Siamese cat. Oliver’s prior guardian moved into assisted living and was unable to bring him with them. He previously lived with a female Siamese (Ember, who is also up for adoption) but he was a bit too rough for her. Because of this, we are looking for separate homes for Ember and Oliver. Oliver previously lived in fairly quiet home with an older individual. Oliver’s previous guardian reported that he can get overstimulated. A home with a cat-savvy adopter is recommended to ensure that Oliver’s body language is being observed and respected. Oliver loves to play with spring style toys. He used the litterbox reliably in his previous home. Oliver was indoor/outdoor in his previous home and may enjoy a similar set up in the next one. He should be kept indoors for a period of at least 30 days to acclimate to the new home before being left out. Oliver would likely do well in an indoor only home with daily mental and physical stimulation. He has been around dogs and does not appreciate their company so a dog free home is required. Oliver’s adoption fee is sponsored thanks to the Silver Whisker’s Society, a fund aiming to get often overlooked seniors out of the Shelter!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

She is food motivated and may enjoy bonding with her new guardian with some Churru treats. She used the litterbox reliably in her previous home. Ember was indoor only in her previous home and would like to continue a similar set up in the next one. She has been around dogs and does not appreciate their company so a dog free home is required. Her previous guardian describes her as a friendly, affectionate lap cat who likes to be brushed. They are both very affectionate with people and if there’s a lap available they will usually climb in and purr and want petting before their nap. Given just a little time to get to know you, they will both be devoted companions. Piper is a social girl with a big personality. She’s chatty and will let you know when she wants a snack or a cuddle. Once in your arms, she loves to purr. Piper loves sitting on a lap and enjoys snuggling with her brother, Shiloh.
