Story
Hi, my name is King and I have a lot of personality packed into my little 15 pound body. I'm sure you've heard of a Velcro dog, but my foster mom calls me a super Velcro dog. I have low to medium energy, like I'll totally go for a 2 mile walk with you, take a quick nap, drink a ton of water and then I'm ready to go again or I can stay at home all day with a couple of short outside breaks and I'm still good. While I'm ok at entertaining myself, I still need to be able to see my person at all times and will come over and ask for attention, but my favorite thing to do is to lay on the couch and snooze while being petted; I looooove cuddling while getting my ears rubbed. My foster mom says I'm affection motivated, but I know the command sit when a treat is involved. I'm great on car rides and love to have the window down for all the smells, but I will also curl up and snooze on longer rides. She says I'm also a good jumper at getting in and out of the car, but we are still working on waiting to be invited to exit the car instead of jumping out once the door is open. I'm mostly house broken, but I still mark and have the occasional accident, so I'll need some help with that. My foster mom has been helping to break this habit using a spray bottle and let's just say I've gotten better very quickly. She says my temperament is great, I don't resource guard treats, food, water or toys. I'm also cat friendly and will share my dinner with my cat friend. I'm good with small kids, as long as they don't try to pick me up. When that happened, I panicked a bit, but I did not snap or bite, instead I jumped out of the girl's arms, cried, and ran back to my foster mom for protection. I do have some quirks, such as following my nose into trouble; like eating the cat's food or picking up food from the ground when I go on walks. I'm also good at finding (and eating if you don't catch me) tissues. Any time I find anything good (including the can of cat food) I bring it back to my crate or bed. I also love to fall asleep with my legs in the air and sometimes run in my sleep. My foster mom says I sometimes snore louder than a 6 foot man with sleep apnea, but hey, that's just me. I do have some areas of improvement: my next family will have to help me work on my extreme separation anxiety. I am not a dog that can be left alone for more than 2 hours. My foster mom crates me when she leaves and I freak out, so much that I have broken out of my crate a couple times. Mom has also tried leaving me uncrated in the downstairs and I still freak out. Because of this I'm hoping my next family is household where I can follow or be with them all the time.

Story
When I first brought Adonnis home he was scared of everything and everyone. He was extremely skittish, timid and you could tell he just didn't trust humans. He was horribly underweight and bore both signs of physical and mental abuse. But this little brave heart has made a lot of progress in the 4 months that I've had him. Here are couple of things to know about Adonnis: He is still scared of people, though he seems to be doing a bit better with women than men. If he sees anything in your hands he doesn't recognize - he will run away from you. He does not like sudden movements or loud noises. Recently he started coming up to me for pets and cuddles and it is so heartwarming to witness. He loves, loves other dogs. From day number one - he would not want to go outside if the other dogs were not going with him. He would come back to the door and wait for them if I did take him out by himself. He sleeps with them, plays with them, runs with them and most importantly - learns from them. It is amazing how big of the progress he's made thanks to simply the presence of my dogs. I believe it would be the best for his recovery to go to a home with other dogs. He is 99% potty trained when taken out on a set schedule - his last accident was more than 2 months ago and by now he's learned by watching my other dogs that you just have to hang by the door:) He is amazing on walks - after an initial burst of energy and excitement, he calms down quickly and then produces the most spectacular heel ever! He appears to be somewhat reactive if he sees another dog or a squirrel but it's nothing that a freeze dried liver won't fix! He is super attentive and receives corrections very well as long as you remain calm and soothing. Loud noises/commands could potentially set back his progress. He did have separation anxiety in the beginning, but when we discovered that all he really needs is to see the other dogs, we simply moved his crate and he's been better ever since (a couple of crate accidents were probably due to anxiety more than anything else). He is an absolute sweetheart when it comes to grooming!!! He just patiently stands there whether it's for the bath or for trimming his nails. Adonnis is really a good boy. Once he trust you - all he wants is to be around you and get cuddles. He's recently discovered what the toys are for and it's been such a joy watching him learn how to be a dog! To whoever adopts him - if you are willing to accept his fear of people, put in the time and lots and lots of patience to allow him to decompress and learn to trust you - you are gaining a wonderful dog !!! He is a sweet boy who wants nothing more than to be loved by you and the company of four legged friends.

Story
From Merlin's foster mom: I have had the pleasure of fostering Merlin for several months. He was dumped in a rural area and was hard to catch and scared of everything. I brought him into my house and he stayed inside with outside potty breaks while in my care and NEVER had an accident inside. I became worried about his safety when he escaped my fence one day and would not come back to me. He was sent for 2 weeks inboard training. He caught a chicken the day he got loose but dropped it when I told him to and the chicken was unharmed. Merlin slowly warmed up to me and would try to get in to my lap a lot. He is very loving and sweet. He would be a great walking or jogging companion as he is high energy. He was very submissive to all my other dogs and was tolerant of cats but I never left him alone with the cats. Merlin is very smart and funny and he has a wonderful personality. He is a perfect dog but he needs an adopter with a sense of humor. Merlin "The Magician" makes things disappear! He loves to collect household items...shoes, clothes, spoons, canned goods, measuring tapes...whatever he can get his mouth on. He has great fun swiping things the second you turn around. He has a special place he takes his treasurers and understands you will collect your items back. I imagine this will improve as he grows out of puppyhood and with follow up training. He was started with the basics but will continue to need reinforcement of what he has learned. The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering.
