Meet Zeppelin! This handsome butterscotch buddy is about 2.5 years old as of 12/25. He was originally purchased for a specific type of training, but as he matured, it was evident that he didn't have the confidence required for such a job. He is better suited as a house dog and companion. His best friend is our cattle dog mix, Toast, and we would love for them to go to a home together. If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   This dog is a 4-5 year old female Standard Poodle who weighs in at 48.8 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $600.  If you are still interested, please read more below. This girl’s name is actually Nella. She came to us as a male, 1 year old, golden doodle named Lenny, but surprise she is a girl! The vet also believes she is actually a standard poodle and about 4-5 years old. She is a very gentle, sweet girl, but still very scared of life. She likes to stay in her spot all day unless she goes for a walk. She does great walking on leash, and she loves to walk her same path everyday, multiple times a day! She also loves any sort of edible chew toy that you give her. Nella girl loves to be brushed; it puts her right to sleep!! Because we don’t know her exact story, we have been learning some of her triggers as we go. She is still very nervous with just about everything! It will take her time to settle in. We think there must have been some trauma for her with cars, because she is still nervous around them. She prefers women and has adjusted better to women in the house versus men. Nella has very specific routines that she likes to follow, but she is a very sweet girl!! She would do best in a home without kids, because she likes to be in a quiet, peaceful environment. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they happily ignore her, but she isn’t one for really engaging with them. If you have the time, patience, and love to let her settle in on her own time, she would be a great dog for you! She is fully crate-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained! Quinn is a quirky conundrum. She is so playful and gregarious - with other dogs. At first we thought she was uber shy, or had had a tough beginning to her life which was going to take time to change. What we are starting to discover is that she is generally a happy go lucky bouncy girl who will self play with stuffies (throwing them up in the air), bounces through the yard like tigger, is house trained and crate trained, and generally very entertaining. She takes treats softly, gives tender licks, and will snuggle up briefly and selectively when things are calm and the humans are sitting or laying down and her environment is relatively calm. The obstacles that are still challenging for her are 1) she is very very leash reactive/fearful. This will require skilled training. 2) She must have 4 legged friend(s) around her. They give her confidence around people, going outside and coming inside and generally feeling safe. 3) She requires a home with a 5`+ fence. Until she is fully trained on leashes she would be a flight risk and therefore needs a safe place to get her run on. (she is medium energy).When guests come into the house, as long as the fosters dogs are in the area she is quite inquisitive and will be right there sniffing out the new people with her tail wagging, She is with a new foster and the transition was smooth in that she met all the pups, figured out the door to go outside and in, and was sitting on the sofa between foster mom and dad before the end of the first day. She is very resilient, adaptable and as long as her minimum needs are met (fence, dogs, training) she will be a remarkable family member.
