Meet Missy – A Beautiful Treeing Walker Hound Looking for Her Forever Home Missy is a stunning 2-year-old, 50-lb Treeing Walker Hound who is finally free—free from a life spent mostly in an outdoor kennel, free from freezing temperatures, boredom, and far too little exercise. Now that she’s experiencing comfort and freedom for the first time, she is absolutely thriving. Missy is exuberant, joyful, and full of energy—which makes perfect sense for a young hound who’s never really had the opportunity to run, explore, and just be a dog. She is extremely friendly with both people and other dogs, greeting everyone with enthusiasm and a happy heart. She’s learning how to control herself and settle, but she’s still very much a bull in a china shop—sweet, goofy, and sometimes unaware of her own strength as she figures out this new world. We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.

Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is. This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure.
