Story
Update from Boomer's foster mom: Boomer has settled in nicely with his 2 Weim foster brothers; he learned the dog door immediately, is housebroken, rides great in the car, and doesn't mind sleeping in his crate although a dog bed in the bedroom is also a great option! Boomer met some other Weims over the weekend and he did great! Boomer and his new friends did zoomies all afternoon and then settled down on the deck enjoying the cooler weather. Boomer will definitely need a family with Weim/high energy dog experience and no small children as he would knock them down. Welcome Boomer! This handsome, very sweet 2 yr old fella with a docked tail is 77 lbs of energy. Boomer loves everyone he meets! He was surrendered to rescue at no fault of his own. Boomer is housebroken and is great with other dogs (NO cats!). Boomer will need a family that can provide Boomer with lots of structure and exercise.

Story
Update on Charlie from his foster: Charlie is an amazing boy. He was only with us for five days but in those few days he became a relaxed, joyful part of our household. He learned all commands, including understanding that a gentle, “get out of the kitchen” meant he was to leave the room and sit on the back door carpet where he could watch the food prep but not partake-as he surely wanted to. He’s simple and easy going and a very quick learner. He loves a walk (though could use some work on the leash-maybe a gentle leader?), time in the backyard, and a good long game of fetch. He’ll sit for a treat and gently take it from your fingers. He rolls over for a tummy rub but his absolute favorite is a long rub under his throat. He will make a wonderful shadow, wanting to participate closely in whatever his humans are doing. He loves other dogs and gets along well with cats. In fact, I think he’d like to be close friends with a cat. He’d be happy with another dog but at the very least will be so happy to have humans to call his own. He loves to be social. Ultimately, he is excellent. He will easily enfold into your life and you will be happy to have the chance to love him. Looks like he’s ready to meet his new family! If you are interested in learning more about Charlie Dean, please submit an application on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt ************************** Welcome Charlie Dean to the 1st Day of the BEST REST of your life! Charlie Dean is a 5 year old, male, neutered Weimaraner that is coming to us from Dorchester Paws, near Charleston, SC! He is HW negative and up to date with all his vaccines! Charlie is a sweet boy that just want's some lovin'! He seem to know his basic commands like "sit" and "come"... and if you check out the video, he even knows how to "shake"! And if that wasn't cool enough, he is ok with cats! Charlie has a condition called, Hypotrichosis - which is similar to Alopecia. The main difference is the Alopecia is total absence of hair, while Hypotrichosis means that Charlie does have some hair on his body - but he'll still need a sweater when the weather cools off - which makes him the perfect model for your knitting or crochet hobby! We will update you once he has settled into his foster home and has another check-up with our vet to make sure his skin is in top shape!

Story
Coming Soon! Meet Cash! Cash is an 11 month old bundle of Weim that would love to be your running buddy! Cash is an active young boy that needs an active family where he'll get lots of exercise, and because he's a typical Weimaraner puppy, he needs some guidance to work on his manners and basic commands. We recommend no small children because he's very excitable and can easily knock over a small child because he doesn't realize his size - yes, he's a clumsy, typical young Weim! Plus, he's very smart and learns quickly! Cash is housebroken and crate-trained, but not good with cats! He gets along well with dogs that can handle his puppy energy! He loves to play with other dogs and can be rambunctious when he gets too excited, so may not be best with more senior dogs that don't like a lot of activity. Cash is definitely a work in progress, but he's a good boy who just wants to please and be a part of your family! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Cash, please complete an application on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt. If you have completed and app in the last 3 months, please send us an reminder email letting us know you are interested in fostering or adopting Cash.

Story
Welcoming 10 mos old Sadie to rescue. Sadie was surrendered by her family because she was too high energy for the small children in the house. She had been crated all day while the family was at work and then crated again at night. It's really no surprise this beautiful blue Weim mix girl is full of energy. Sadie is housebroken, loves to play ball, is okay with older children and good with other dogs (cats unknown). Sadie's new family will need to provide tons of structure, exercise, and her favorite belly rubs. (Sadie is being spayed today 10-3-24).

Story
Hercules lived the first of his life tethered to a chain on a tree. A Good Samaritan saw him posted online “ free to a good home “. Clearly the “ home “ he was currently at wasn’t that. He is between 1-2 years old. Dog and kid friendly, UTD on vax and prevention, heartworm negative and will Be neutered prior to going to his forever home. He is not house trained but this is to be expected living on a chain your whole life. He will need a patient forever home at first, but has so much love to give.

Story
Please meet the absolutely beautiful young gentleman we are calling Spartacus. Spartacus, who we believe is a Pointer mix is only 16 weeks old and weighs just 20lbs and it is 20lbs of pure love!! This bundle of joy is very sweet and cute as a button. Spartacus arrived at the shelter as a little lost baby boy on 9/12. He is a little young to go outside and play properly at the shelter so he is hoping to find a new home very, very soon so he can get out of his cage and be able to run around and play like puppies do. He is small right now but he will likely be medium to large size when full grown. He would love to have a new best friend or family that will teach him everything he needs to know that he doesn't already know and thrive as puppy and into adulthood including basic manners. He is adorable, a tad shy and but playful in his kennel and eager to please so he will a natural at learning. He loves toys and treats and is wishing for a loving home who will provide him a lovely, soft bed to get a good night's sleep in, lots of attention and love, security so he can feel safe and sound so he doesn't return to the shelter ever again. He would enjoy plenty of toys and treats as well. Spoil this little boy rotten. He certainly will deserve that and repay you with lots of hugs and kisses. If you are the loving family who can be there for him every step on the way, show him a lot of patience and guidance, then he will be waiting for you to come take him home. Be this little boy's guardian angel. Puppies are a lot of work and dedicated commitment so please make sure you have the right home, environment and common sense to raise this boy the best way. Spartacus is current on vaccines but will need boosters as determined by your vet. He is neutered and will be micro-chipped upon his adoption. Spartacus will be tested for heartworms also upon his adoption as well. He is waiting for you in cage 330 in the small dog room and his ID# is 661834. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heart worm or combo test and a microchip.
