He can be timid and fearful at first, but once he is comfortable he is sweet, affectionate and playful.  He loves being with other dogs and people, once he is comfortable.  Nyx can be easily startled, so we do not recommend him in a home with children.  He was found chained to a wooden kennel with dirt floors and it seems that is where he had spent his life, poor guy.  He will need a calm, quieter home and environment.  Nyx is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome and will need one without cats.  Nyx is a past Dog of the Month!!  https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/nyx-january-dog-of-the-month/ Sponsored by LaVerne Carlson Sponsored by Cathleen MacellariNyx would love to have a sponsor.  If this interests you, please see: https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/support/sponsor-a-dog/ Greyhound Pets, Inc. - www.greyhoundpetsinc.org - 877-468-7681 WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT A GREYHOUND? Story
Animal Profile: Jackie is a 4-month-old whippet/rat terrier mix. This sweet, sassy girl likes nothing better than being beside you or on your lap. She's good with dogs, cats, and dog-savvy kids. Foster Update: Jackie is a sweet, spunky, and loving puppy. She is a champ at pottying outside and is great in her crate. She is food motivated and has quickly learned sit. She loves other dogs and has done great both on walks and playing with resident dogs. She would enjoy being in a home with other dogs but that's not mandatory. She enjoys a walk, but with the rain prefers a short walk with an indoor play session, and then a nap. She’s been so wonderful hanging in my office while I work from home. If her cuteness doesn’t make you fall in love with her, her desire to just follow you around the house wagging her tail may seal the deal. Jackie would love a home with a fenced yard and another canine companion, but not mandatory for the right home.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was originally transferred from a kill shelter in Hawaii and joined us from Kauai Humane Society rescue partner, arriving to Seattle on October 2, 2024. She will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.    October 21, 2024, 5:42 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Huna is 2-year-old approximately 50lb  Whippet/Hound mix joining us from our friends at Kauai SPCA. He has been in a caring foster home, and has proven to be a friendly, happy guy. He is house and crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs. He can be shy when first meeting new friends, but does better with a helper dog around. Huna is a gentle guy that enjoys his walks, riding in the car, and hanging out with friends who have earned his trust.  Foster Update:  Huna is settling in well and is such a sweet shy guy!  H e is very affectionate once he trusts you and loves couch snuggles. He is crate and potty trained and walks well on leash other than a bit of excitement and pulling if he sees a bunny; who can blame him? He loves the resident dog in his foster home as well as playing with the neighbor’s foster puppy. Huna takes a bit to warm up to new people but is such a sweet boy and is really worth the extra effort. We believe Huna will do best in a home with another dog and a fenced yard.  Given he is shy and a bit nervous around loud noises we think an adult only home or one with older dog savvy kids will be best for Huna.   With his confidence continuing to grow, we know he is going to make a perfect addition to one lucky family here in the PNW! Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was originally transferred from a kill shelter in Hawaii and joined us from Kauai SPCA rescue partner, arriving to Seattle on October 2, 2024. Story
Animal Profile: Pongo is a 6-month-old, 20lb whippet/terrier mix. He is lovely puppy who has been in foster care with Action 4 Animals near the east side shelter. Pongo has been walking on a lead, attending basic puppy social and obedience training as well as several pop-up adoption events. He does well with people, dogs and cats. Calm for a puppy of his age and very motivated to please. He is doing great on his potty training with consistent breaks throughout the day. Foster Update:  This is Pongo: a very happy-chill dog! Do you want a companion that will be stoked to go hiking? He's your buddy! Want to play fetch between meetings? He's got you! Want to chill on the couch at the end of the day? He can do that too! Not only he can chill, he's not very food motivated at the moment, which means you can snack on the couch, while Pongo snuggles you and not fight for your food or have begging eyes staring at your every bite! He also occasionally sleeps like people (see photo), adorable! He's currently very passionate about toys, specially of the squeaking variety, and will keep himself busy with them. He's absolutely acing potty training, and getting passing grades on his lose leash walking, as long as you keep a brisk pace. This sniffing aficionado will pull if given time to be intrigued with the squirrel, cyclist, or dog going by. Largely respectful of non chewable belongings given his age, and sleeps in his crate at night without issues. Reach out soon if you never want your lap to go cold again! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Hawaii Animal Control arrived to Seattle area foster care on 10/10/24  October 21, 2024, 5:42 pm
