Story
Animal Profile: Archie is an 11-12 month old 40lb neutered male whippet mix joining us from Hawaii to Seattle area foster care on Monday June 3rd. This handsome white and brindle boy is very sweet and not jumpy or vocal, remarkably calm for a youngster! He's had a couple months in foster care so he's had some training and is described as eager to please. Archie is good with dogs and people, and also friendly with the cat in the foster home. He has good car manners and an even temperament. He plays nice with dogs of all sizes, too.  Foster Update:  Archie is a very sweet and mellow dog! For only being around a year old, he is incredibly calm and well behaved. During the day he is happy to nap in his bed, play on his own with a stuffie toy, or snack on a kong in his crate. His personality has started to shine and he can be quite playful, though he is not destructive with toys or too rowdy in the house. If he does get his paws on something off limits, he responds well to verbal correction. Archie does well on walks in the neighborhood and is curious about other dogs, people, and new sounds (such as lawn mowers and garbage trucks) but is typically able to disengage and keep on moving. He does well on leash though could use some continued engagement training as he can be a little clumsy and get distracted by all the interesting sights in the neighborhood. He has a bit of a prey drive when it comes to rabbits and squirrels but doesn't bolt or pull too much. In terms of training Archie is f ood motivated and eager to please! He's still learning commands, but has made good progress with sit, crate training, and housetraining. He is potty trained as long as we keep him on a regular schedule. Archie is a medium energy dog. He has been content with a couple walks and some play time each day. He was able to keep up with us on a 6-7 mile hike, but was falling asleep on the car ride home, so does not have endless energy. Archie is a big sweetheart who loves pets and treats above all else. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a part of their family! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Hawaii Animal Control arriving to Seattle area foster care on Monday 6/3/24.  He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. June 22, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Animal Profile: Mahina is a 10-month-old 27 lb spayed female Hawaii mixed breed joining us from Hawaii to Seattle area foster care on Monday June 3rd. This itty bitty black dog has hilarious upright ears and a soft personality with no training but a solid temperament with dogs and people.  Foster Update:  Mahina is a sweet, snuggly girl with a good amount of fun puppy energy! She is social with people and other dogs. She is a big fan of playing with toys, fetch, and tiring herself out with playtime in the yard. Mahina walks well on leash though given her young age will benefit from ongoing training in this area. She is potty trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. Mahina would love an active family who is looking for a happy, playful dog to join them out and about and on just about any adventure. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Story
Meet June! She is a very active and affectionate dog, she loves to go for a walk on a leash and discover new places, she is usually invaded when she meets a new dog, and she jumps on people with tremendous joy, she is very sociable and obedient, but when she plays she usually behaves like puppy, he loves balls, cloth toys, rope toys, and he really likes to play with puppies. She was abandoned the day she had her 12 puppies, the "owner" went to throw the babies on the hill while June desperately looked for them where she thought her home was, the person who asked us for support to give her shelter and care told us that She went for her puppies, and they were in a box, under the sun, and there were 4 dead puppies in a bag, together with her 8 brothers, the girl took them down to her house so that June was with them, but when we arrived by they only had 5 puppies alive since he brought them back up the hill. June is currently healthy, happy, and chubby. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.

He can be timid and fearful at first, but once he is comfortable he is sweet, affectionate and playful.  He loves being with other dogs and people, once he is comfortable.  Nyx can be easily startled, so we do not recommend him in a home with children.  He was found chained to a wooden kennel with dirt floors and it seems that is where he had spent his life, poor guy.  He will need a calm, quieter home and environment.  Nyx is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome and will need one without cats.  Nyx is a past Dog of the Month!!  https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/nyx-january-dog-of-the-month/ Sponsored by LaVerne Carlson Sponsored by Cathleen MacellariNyx would love to have a sponsor.  If this interests you, please see: https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/support/sponsor-a-dog/ Greyhound Pets, Inc. - www.greyhoundpetsinc.org - 877-468-7681 WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT A GREYHOUND?
