Story
Meet Ginger. Ginger came to us after her owner passed away. She was in a home with many other dogs, cats and even pot belly pigs. Ginger is scared of new people at first, but she does like to cuddle once she gets to know you. She does seem to like men faster then women and will cuddle with them first. Ginger does like to be with other small dogs so a home with another small friendly dog is going to be a must for her. She is not a fan of the leash at all, but we keep trying. She will do best going out to potty in a home with a securely fenced in yard so does need the fenced in yard. We don't know exactly what she is mixed with, her hair does seem like Yorkie and she is an adult, we think at least 5 years old. She weighs about 9 lbs. Ginger came to us spayed, but she was in desperate need of a dental cleaning so she just had that done and her vaccines are now all up to date. She is microchipped and tested negative for heartworm and was started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Because she does get scared easily we are not recommending a home with children for Ginger. Story
Meet Loveable Loki! Loki is a 7-year-old yorkie mix who weighs 15 lbs. This super handsome gray and white boy has fur as soft and luxurious as silk. Best of all, Loki's soft fur does not shed, so you can keep wearing your black clothes! Loki was surrendered to Critter Cavalry because his owner could no longer afford to care for him after moving from Florida to Tennessee. Unfortunately, Loki developed allergies and needed daily medication. Since joining Critter Cavalry, he has seen a dermatologist, and it turns out he does have allergies. Thankfully, these are now well-managed with quality food, one pill, and regular grooming. His last grooming appointment showed no signs of allergies at all, and a change of location from Tennessee should also help. You won’t find a more lovable companion than Loki. He greets everyone with enthusiasm and will happily leap into the lap of anyone sitting down. He simply wants to be near you, whether on the couch or in your chair. Make sure there’s always room for him at night, as he’ll snuggle up close before you know it. Loki also adores the company of other small dogs and thrives in a home with multiple pets; he definitely is not a lone ranger! He is housebroken and can be left loose in the house. While he isn’t a fan of car rides, he loves going for walks and happily trots ahead of you down the street. Loki thrives on routine and organization, making him an excellent companion for a middle-aged couple with one or two other dogs. Although he hasn’t been around children, he should do well with kids over 8 who understand how to treat pets properly. Loki is neutered, up-to-date on all his vaccinations, and microchipped. If you would like to be considered for Loki's forever family and request an adoption application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. Note that an approved application and adoption fee are required.June 7, 2025, 12:30 pm

Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Bruno is available for adoption. He is 8 years old and weighs 11 lbs His adoption fee is $600.00.   Meet Bruno, an 8-year-old, 11 lb. Morkie (Yorkie & Maltese mix) who is eager to find his forever home! Don't let his age fool you because Bruno has plenty of energy. He loves to play, but it comes in short spurts.    Bruno's favorite time of day is his daily walk with his foster parents where he stops to see all of his new neighbors. He has mastered walking on a leash and does not get distracted by other people or dogs. Bruno's forever family will need to provide him with daily exercise, whether it is going for a walk around the neighborhood or running around in a fenced yard. Once he takes his walk and burns off his energy, Bruno is a pretty lazy and chill guy. He will quietly sleep on the couch with his foster Mom while she reads a book or watch Phillies games with his foster Dad.  He does great when left alone and sleeps through the night without any issues. Bruno is doing exceptional with potty breaks, even letting his foster Mom know when he needs to go outside. He has improved significantly with asking for table food and is starting to understand his efforts are not fruitful. Used to being the only dog in the house, Bruno is perfectly content by himself. However, he has met other dogs and would be fine in a home that already has a furry friend for him to hang out with.  Bruno will be available for adoption in late June after his veterinary care is complete. If you’re looking for a housemate that is the perfect mix of energetic and laid back, Bruno is your guy! Bruno is staying with Sarah and Matt in Reading, PA. Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Kiwi is available for adoption. She is 5 years old and weighs 6 pounds. Her adoption fee is $800.00.Update:Kiwi saw our new vet Dr. Ball today and we got great news. Dr Ball feels Kiwi is closer to 5 years old rather than 7 based on her eyes and teeth as well as her activity level. Dr Ball examined her, reviewed her chest x-ray and also had a colleague listen to her heart and both agreed Kiwi does not have a heart murmur or any enlargement of the heart. They recommended stopping her cardiac medication. Kiwi is scheduled for her spay and dental on Thursday 6/12. She will be ready for adoption once she is fully healed. Kiwi was found by a Good Samaritan  in a park in southwest Philly. She was matted, dirty and had apparently been out by herself for some time. The Good Samaritan took her to a shelter and Save a Yorkie was contacted. When she was picked up it was evident she needed to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Kiwi was taken to the vet the next day.  She had diarrhea with matted feces and an extremely excoriated bottom, nails that were curving under her pads, cough and the worst ulcers in her both eyes that the vet had ever seen. Kiwi was very scared and would not let the vet check her temp, teeth or get blood. The vet decided to give medication to calm her prior to any future visits. Foster mom was sent home with 4 medications and eye drops to be administered 3 x’s a day. Within two days Kiwi seemed to be getting worse and was wheezing, coughing more and sneezing frequently. Back to the vet we went and he could hear the congestion in her throat so another medication was ordered. Kiwi was very good about taking her meds and even the eye drops were no problem. Her diarrhea stopped and she loved to eat but her congestion was not improving. After many phone calls to the vet two more medications were added and now finally she is doing well.  Next challenge was grooming. Kiwi was medicated so she could get groomed but she still gave the groomer a really hard time. Hopefully the next time will be better. Kiwi needs to be spayed, have her teeth cleaned and have blood work to check for heart worm. Even with all of her problems Kiwi has remained a sweet little girl. She loves attention and wants to be on your lap or in sight of you all the time. She will push your hand to pet her if you stop. Kiwi does not like to share foster mom with other dogs in the home and will growl if she’s on my lap and they get to close. Kiwi needs to be a one and only dog in her forever home.  Kiwi is staying with Joan, George and their boys Bernie and Jack in Cherry Hill, NJ.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 10, 2025, 2:59 pm

Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Deno is part of a bonded pair of Yorkies and will have to be adopted with his brother Dupris. He is 6 years old and weighs 9 lbs. The adoption fee for both dogs is $600.00. Deno and Dupris came to us  the day after our last foster left.    It is a treat for us to have a bonded pair and to watch them play and cavort together.     Deno is the more outgoing of the two and he laps up attention and loves to lick faces.    Dupris is less sure of novelty but has adjusted well and appears quite at home on our chaise lounge.    They were surrendered because of illnesses in their family and had been home alone for a while before they came to us so they were a bit rambunctious at first. In the beginning, I kept them crated when I went out but the past few days I have left them without crating them and they have behaved very well and greeted me warmly when I got home.      Deno and Dupris are staying with Sam in Shohola, PA.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 10, 2025, 7:01 pm
