Story
Meet Cashew, a sweet 2-year-old Akita mix who is now available for adoption at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter.Cashew recently has a rare condition called masticatory muscle myositis, which affects her jaw muscles. She can eat and drink comfortably, but has some difficulty picking up toys.Cashew knows how to sit and lay down, and she gets bursts of playful energy from time to time. She would benefit from continued training to help her build confidence and skills. We are still learning how she feels about other dogs.If you think Cashew might be the right match for your home, we invite you to come meet her.

Oversized teddy bear seeks snuggle partner. Cuddly, smart, and eager to please, swipe right if you can handle this high energy heart with a soft side. Hatchi’s story is heartbreaking — he came into the shelter with his brother, but when their owner returned, they only took his brother… leaving Hatchi behind in a high-kill shelter. He soon found himself on the euthanasia list. Hatchi is now in a loving foster home and is looking for his forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and supported again. Hatchi does require eye drops daily for the remainder of his life. In our dream world, Hatchi would find a human that would help him feel confident and secure in a FINALLY stable environnment.

Story
Hank is 2 years old. He’s very sweet and is a good listener. He does well with kids but he does not get along well with other dogs due to being kept in a crate with an aggressive dog who attacked him. He is a good dog but will need to be kept close on walks or he will be aggressive with other dogs. He loves food. He knows sit and shake and he loves belly rubs. He’s a great protector and loves to be close by you. He loves the outside and going on walks. He likes sleeping in his crate at night. He will try to eat food off the counter so beware of that. Other than that he is a great dog but he will need to go to a home with no other pets, especially no other dogs. We are unsure of how he does with other animals (cats, etc) He has no health issues and adapts very well to new environments.

Story
Hi, I`m Kira. I have a playful spirit wrapped in a soft, shy shell. At first, I like to observe from a distance, but with a little time and kindness, you’ll discover a goofy, affectionate pup who loves to run, play, and show off my silly side! Once you are in my inner circle, my full personality really shines. I have made plenty of human friends with the staff and a few doggy friends as well. With some training and patience, I am sure I can become an ideal companion.

Story
Yote (like coyote) was rescued from a high kill shelter and she's looking for her forever home! She's a 3 year old, 43 pound, husky mix and is a very chill dog (she's happy to just sit with you on the couch all day). She came into the shelter with wounds from another animal so she'll need to be the only dog in the household but with proper training I think there's potential for her to get to a place where she's comfortable with other dogs. She's incredibly sweet with people and wants to be as close to you as possible.

Story
Meet Olive, a beautiful 2-year-old female Siberian Husky with a heart as big as her fluffy coat and striking eyes. Olive's story is one of incredible resilience and second chances. She was surrendered to a high-kill shelter after being used for breeding, and when she arrived, she had very recently given birth—only to have her precious puppies taken from her. The heartbreak was visible: she was utterly devastated, withdrawn, and soon diagnosed with severe pneumonia that landed her on the euthanasia list. That's when our rescue stepped in. We refused to give up on her. Olive spent several weeks in the hospital receiving intensive treatment—we spared no expense to get her healthy again. Thanks to dedicated veterinary care and a lot of love, she made a full recovery and is now perfectly healthy, strong, and ready for her forever chapter. She is fully vaccinated, spayed (so she never has to endure the pain of losing another litter), microchipped, and up to date on all her care. Olive is a sweet, affectionate girl who craves gentle attention and patience. She's been through so much loss and hardship in her young life, and now she just wants to feel safe, cherished, and adored. She may need a little time to build trust, but once she knows she's loved, she gives it back tenfold with loyal companionship, husky cuddles, and those classic dramatic Husky vocalizations. If you're an experienced dog owner with plenty of patience, time for daily affection, exercise, and mental stimulation, Olive is dreaming of a quiet, loving home where she can finally just be a happy, spoiled pup. No more shelters, no more using her body, no more goodbyes—just endless belly rubs, adventures, and the security she deserves. Olive is ready for adoption now. Could her forever family be yours? 💙
