Meet Bodega! Bodega is a friendly, social pup. He’s great with most other dogs, knows sit and shake, and is incredibly gentle with food. He’s also kennel and potty trained—he’ll sit by the door to let you know when he needs to go out. This big guy is full of love and thinks he’s a lap dog! He adores pets and attention and needs an owner strong enough to handle him and who won't be crushed under him haha. He is a good boy, and a large boy! Because of his size, he’s not recommended for homes with small children. Bodega would make a loyal, affectionate companion. Could he be the perfect addition to your home?

That face that you fell for is the happy-go-lucky heartthrob we call Charlie. He is the kind of dog that meets the world with a big ol’ smile and all the wiggle-wag one dog can physically create. He is a goofball with bouncy joy, the cutest charm, and some amazing cuddles. Charlie is estimated to be just over one-year-old, he weighs 50-pounds, and we think he is a bit of a lab/bulldog mix but truthfully we can’t say for sure given he is a rescue. After I spent the day with him I didn’t want him to go- I had fallen for him. He is instantly affectionate and melts into a puddle of belly rub seeking butter. If he doesn’t melt you will feel him lean into you for hugs, and he will even let you scoop him up for an extra sweet cuddle. This guy’s happy energy is contagious and that doesn’t stop with people, he is just as thrilled to make new dog friends as he is to be by your side. The afternoon we spent with Charlie we introduced him to a wide variety of dogs to get a feel for his play style and the types of dogs he enjoys most. It didn’t take long at all for us to be impressed with how friendly and welcoming he was. Even when other dogs came in a little hot or pushy, Charlie handled it with grace. With the right dog, an equally bouncy, playful dog, he showed us he loves a bit of bouncy, physical play but it isn’t his constant. He was comfortable enough to lay down beside brand-new dogs a sign of total trust. He’s the type who only joins in play when invited and isn’t going to push his way in as a third wheel or shut down the fun for them. He isn’t going to cause a stir but will always try to help keep the vibes tuned to fun-loving, calm joy. Charlie does need some leash work, he has the basics down and honestly I feel like I am betraying him to say such a thing because it didn’t bother me one bit. All I could see was a happy boy who was just so excited to explore the world! The more he gets to experience and enjoy the better he will be at pacing himself . That and some practice (and maybe a few treats to reward him for checking-in and walking by your side), he will learn quickly. He is a smart boy, eager to please, and already shows how well he responds when guided gently. He will bond fast and deep with his people. During the time we spent with him, the first person who interacted with him as his handler walked out of the yard, he stayed by the gate waiting- a loyal love bug through and through. Because of that devotion, he may miss you when you go at first, its natural, but with time and routine he will settle into knowing his favorite people always come home. Charlie would do best in a home with a yard and another playful, medium-energy dog to run and romp with. He could adjust to apartment living once his leash manners are polished as long as he gets plenty of playtime and adventures to meet his mental and physical needs. No cats for Charlie though, his eager friendliness does not vibe with cats. We all know cats- if you’re too eager they don’t care for you and that goes for dogs too. Lizzie is known for her joyful “happy hops” like a little bunny. She bounces when she’s excited to see her people and it’s the cutest thing. She’s affectionate, silly, and deeply devoted once she bonds. At home, she’s an absolute dream: fully housebroken, trustworthy when left alone, non-destructive, and content to snooze most of the day. She happily free roams, sleeps through the night, and will curl up in bed with you if invited (she firmly believes she’s a lap dog). We believe Lizzie is an American Bully mix, of course, with rescue, that’s just our best guess! At 5 years old, and weighing in at 80 lbs, this gal is nothing but easy going, the queen of naps, and some would even say closely resembles a baby cow. Her cuddle game is top-tier, whether it’s couch time, computer work, or relaxing after a long day. Lizzie just wants to be where her person is. Lizzie enjoys quiet adventures like the beach, Home Depot trips, and farmers markets. She’s happiest when she can take it all in at her own pace, especially when people give her a little personal space. At home, she’s incredibly easygoing. Lizzie loves warm bubble baths, prefers dry paws (wet grass is not her favorite!), and is polite around food. She’s learned that meals and treats are always coming, and her foster reports she’s made wonderful progress with sharing space peacefully. She coexists beautifully with cats, puppies, horses, tortoises, and even mini cows, often completely uninterested. Really, she’s simply happy to hang out near her person. Lizzie bonds deeply and tends to choose “her person,” thriving best with someone who enjoys a close, companion-style relationship. She does best in a calm, predictable home where she can feel safe, understood, and gently guided. She is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs in her foster home. From puppies to even large great danes. Lizzie loves to play and plays like she’s a contender in wrestle mania. She is bouncy, uses her whole body, and likes to talk about it all while keeping things fun and lighthearted. She’s just a big gal and with that comes bigger play styles. No need to worry about your home being a 24/7 doggy day care, not even close. Play time doesn’t last long with Lizzie, it’s very short lived LOL and then she’s ready for the biggest cat nap. She would also be completely content being the only dog and the center of your world. It’s her favorite place to be anyways. She’s crate trained, comfortable being crated when needed, and often chooses her crate on her own for naps. She sleeps a lot (about 21 hours a day!) and has one short burst of zoomies daily, that’s her idea of exercise. A big yard isn’t necessary; Lizzie is low-energy and content with companionship over activity. Above all, Lizzie is a loyal, affectionate soul who wants nothing more than to share life quietly with her person. Whether that’s during a bubble bath, while you work on your laptop, or as she naps nearby soaking up the warmth. She’s the definition of a companion dog: steady, loving, and endlessly comforting. Small in name, big on presence, that is Guppy! This boy is an attention-getter- the squishy face and connection seeking eyes can convince anyone to give him a little love or a free-treat. His favorite things, in no particular order, Guppy loves- kisses, booty scratches, sharing treats with his new girlfriend, and apples. Yes, apples! Maybe not that surprising but what makes it especially fun is the chompy-chomp sound it makes when he chews them, if you have ever fed a horse an apple or an apple slice, you know the sound- it is so good! We all agree, our favorite thing about Guppy is his tippy-tappy dance, reserved for his favorite people. Imagine that big beefcake greeting you at the door doing his little dance! My heart! Guppy recently went for a doggy day out with his favorite volunteers. He went to the park and played on the jungle gym, and he even went down the slide! Of course life with guppy is the best life, he will slide into any adventure with you if you’ll let him. He even got to go for not one, but TWO pup cups after. What can we say, a guy like him deserves it. Of course, given Guppy is a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. He currently weighs 63 lbs and has a few pounds to gain so we expect him to top out around 65-70 lbs. Another one of our favorite things about Guppy, is how great he is with kids!! He has spent a lot of time with our Director of Behavior and Intakes son and she is constantly impressed by his patience, tolerance, and over relaxed nature around her 4 year old son. Yes he is relaxed in nature around her son but he knows how to be a fun silly guy as well. Kobe loves to toss around the toys for a little game of fetch and there's Guppy just hanging out watching the action and occasionally joining in as well. He was not bothered but us rolling around on the floor with him, running around like little minions, and wasn't phased by her son jumping on and off the couch too. Another thing that we were super impressed by was Guppy's patience and impulse control with her son's fruit bar especially since he loves his snacky snacks. Guppy would sit right next to him patiently watching, hoping for a little morsel to be dropped on the floor. There was even a time when some was dropped on the floor and her son went to go pick it up and Guppy did not go zooming over to it to gobble it up. He knew it was her son's snack and not his and when it is a snack for Guppy, he was very gentle when taking treats from him and was not pushy or overbearing. He also really enjoyed licking the cheese off of her son's fingers. He's a great pup to have around to help with the after dinner clean ups. We have introduced Guppy to a variety of dogs to gauge his play style and who he gravitates to naturally. It has been easy to see that he shines brightest when he is with the ladies. You can say he is a little bit of a ladies man with the furry type and also the human type LOL. His “type” continues to be the calmer, lower-energy females. Not to say that Guppy doesn't like to play, he does but his definition of play is few and short in between and he's gotta really be feeling it. His play consists of a few seconds of romping around, maybe a few gentle body bumps here and there, then that's it. That's Guppy's play style. He does have a girlfriend, well a few actually, but his number one girlfriend is a wiggly senior female who has the same love of treats and laying around. The two of them together is just about the cutest and he really showed us he is quite the gentleman. If they were being offered treats, he always let her have one first, never once getting pushy. If looking to match-make your current dog in your home, Guppy would be a great companion for a female that matches his chill, low-energy approach to play and life. Guppy is also gentleman in his crate- he has not made a mess once in his crate. As for other pets, a no-cats or small animals home is needed. Whether its chickens or cats or similar- Guppy wants to chase and given his size that is an avoidable bit of chaos. On walks, Guppy’s excitement to be out and about greeting the people and seeing the sights, can lead to him pulling, so he is actively practicing leash training and making great progress everyday. The truth is though, this boy isn’t the outdoor adventure type, his interest in being outside is limited to backyard potty breaks, after that he is headed back inside to that cozy spot by your feet. He is happy to go out in the back yard for a potty break and then back to that spot by your feet or in his cozy bed. If you really want him to be a true 'couch potato” you may have to offer him a few of the good treats and even then he is going to let you hear a tiny bit of sass back. Its a cute little chatter that makes us all laugh. You will see a moment of it in his intro-video. His treat-motivated focus makes him a great candidate for continued teaching and training whether its just for fun or to polish him up to be a model best-boy but he comes with the basic- a great sit and a good recall. Another time Guppy uses his voice is to say hi from a distance when he sees someone he likes or wants to meet, it isn’t excessive but it does make him better suited for house living rather than an apartment. At the rescue when Guppy is hanging out in the living room he doesn’t use his voice to greet people though, he just hops up and comes right over, whether he knows you or its your first time passing through. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. Holly is full of joy and light! She is a bouncy bean, hip hopping everywhere! I think she would prefer to just bounce everywhere instead of walking. She has never met a stranger— she just wanted to play with every dog she met within seconds. Holly loves toys so much, especially big soft ones that don’t fit in her mouth so she looks super silly. She was making everyone at the rescue laugh so hard, I’m sure it was the best part of the day. But my favorite thing about her would have to be how she gets the zoomies with her toys. After she zooms she will roll over on her back and just roll all over her toys. It’s so funny! She loves to chew on them and continue rubbing her back all in the grass. Holly is too cute to handle. Holly’s favorite thing ever was probably meeting her new teenage best friend. She was begging for booty scratches, and let her new friend use her booty as little bongos! She loved it! She has good leash manners from working on them here at the rescue so she will be perfect and ready to go to her new home. She even knows drop it! Her favorite toys are sticks or anything rubber. She loves to fetch them, and then depot to the ground and roll all over them! I call these her “happy drops”. She loves to use her mouth when she’s playing so older kids who know it’s just all fun and games would be perfect for her. She is quiet in her crate and lets you take her toys from her with no problem! Holly is dog friendly but she likes to keep her circle tight, lol! Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
