Story
This unit is permanently set to “people first!” His name is Dooney and he is here and ready to be loved on. Dooney has a big personality, full-body wiggles, and a perfectly goofy personality. This is the kind of dog who walks into a room like he already knows everyone is about to be his new best friend, and honestly? He’s usually right.
Go watch him in action on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this affectionate, attention-loving boy. https://youtu.be/YX4iQCOWdbg
Dooney is confident, social, and immediately connected to his people. From the start, he’s all about closeness. He’ll happily sit at your feet, gently paw for more pets, and if that doesn’t quite do the trick, he’ll pop up to remind you that he is, in fact, still there and still accepting affection. Inside, he can be found on the couch and always in stand-by for cuddle mode. And because he is fostered in a loving home, we can also report that he is both house and crate trained.
On leash, Dooney is a dream to walk. He naturally sticks close, checks in often, and doesn’t need much guidance to stay in sync with you. He makes you feel like you’re already a team, even if you just met. He enjoys getting out and about and would do wonderfully joining his person on errands, outings, or anywhere he can soak up attention from new friends. And speaking of attention… Dooney loves it. All of it. He is a dog who will thrive in a home where people come and go, where there’s always someone nearby to say hello to, and where being part of the action is part of his daily routine.
With other dogs, Dooney is friendly and confident, but he brings a very classic “bully breed” playstyle. Think enthusiastic, a little pushy, and very much “let’s play right now!” energy. He can come in strong when meeting other dogs and may need a reminder to slow things down, but he responds well to guidance and settles into a more balanced interaction once he understands the expectations. He’ll do best with dogs his size or larger who can match his play style and aren’t bothered by his bold approach. Smaller dogs won’t be the right fit for him simply because of his size and approach to play which is rough and tumble and would easily be too much for a small dog. Dooney is not a match for homes with cats and the same reasoning applies- his bold and bullish ways. Around food, Dooney shows nice manners. He can share treats alongside other dogs with no concern and stays focused on his own food during meal times.
What really stands out about Dooney is how easy he is to connect with. He is open, affectionate, and genuinely enjoys being with his people. He’ll thrive with someone who appreciates his social nature, understands his play style, and is excited to have a dog who is equal parts companion, cuddle buddy, and enthusiastic about life.
If you’re looking for a confident, fun-loving dog who will keep your days full of connection and love, Dooney is ready to be your guy. Apply today, he’s already saving you a spot right next to him on the couch.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
