Who needs a dog that looks intimidating to a stranger, but you know she is actually a sweet baby?Meet Koko!Saved from the streets and a kill shelter in Houston, TX - she came to us as a dog who has been working on confidence, but ultimately just wants to please her person.She has completed over a month of intensive dog training and is e-collar trained. While she is still considered a young dog and would love exercise - walks, hikes, runs, or a large yard - she is getting to the age where she enjoys a warm blanket and bed just as much. She currently lives on a large farm, and has less experience on leash but learns quickly.She needs a family that is willing to build trust slowly due to trauma before she was rescued.All supplies would come with Koko (e-collar, collar, leash, food, bowls, treats and toy) and a free vet exam at my vet or one of your choosing.Koko is ready for a loving home that can make her the princess she deserves to be!

I have a loving personality and just want to be everybody’s friend! I haven’t had the best life until now. I was abandoned by my previous family and left in an apartment for around 2 weeks with no food and only the toilet to drink from. I was found there and brought to the shelter. A foster stepped up to get me out of the shelter and now things are looking up for me! I get to spend time with humans and both big and small dogs. I love everyone! I like to play with other dogs, but sometimes I get a little too excited for the small dogs and scare them when I do my play dance too close to them! My foster family has been working with me on my manners - I am a good boy, but I am doing my best to become the best boy I know I am meant to be! I already know how to sit, and I am currently learning crate training, wait/stay, leash walking, and basic manners. My foster family says I'm improving every day! I don’t really understand personal space because I want to be close to my friends. Some of my favorite things are making friends (both human and dog), chew toys, eating my veggies (like carrots and broccoli), going on walks (even in light rain), and diving for ice cubes in the water bowl. While I do enjoy my foster family, I am looking for my forever home. I want to be a part of a family that needs a big, excited, bundle of love in their lives! That face that you fell for is the happy-go-lucky heartthrob we call Charlie. He is the kind of dog that meets the world with a big ol’ smile and all the wiggle-wag one dog can physically create. He is a goofball with bouncy joy, the cutest charm, and some amazing cuddles. Charlie is estimated to be just over one-year-old, he weighs 50-pounds, and we think he is a bit of a lab/bulldog mix but truthfully we can’t say for sure given he is a rescue. After I spent the day with him I didn’t want him to go- I had fallen for him. He is instantly affectionate and melts into a puddle of belly rub seeking butter. If he doesn’t melt you will feel him lean into you for hugs, and he will even let you scoop him up for an extra sweet cuddle. This guy’s happy energy is contagious and that doesn’t stop with people, he is just as thrilled to make new dog friends as he is to be by your side. The afternoon we spent with Charlie we introduced him to a wide variety of dogs to get a feel for his play style and the types of dogs he enjoys most. It didn’t take long at all for us to be impressed with how friendly and welcoming he was. Even when other dogs came in a little hot or pushy, Charlie handled it with grace. With the right dog, an equally bouncy, playful dog, he showed us he loves a bit of bouncy, physical play but it isn’t his constant. He was comfortable enough to lay down beside brand-new dogs a sign of total trust. He’s the type who only joins in play when invited and isn’t going to push his way in as a third wheel or shut down the fun for them. He isn’t going to cause a stir but will always try to help keep the vibes tuned to fun-loving, calm joy. Charlie does need some leash work, he has the basics down and honestly I feel like I am betraying him to say such a thing because it didn’t bother me one bit. All I could see was a happy boy who was just so excited to explore the world! The more he gets to experience and enjoy the better he will be at pacing himself . That and some practice (and maybe a few treats to reward him for checking-in and walking by your side), he will learn quickly. He is a smart boy, eager to please, and already shows how well he responds when guided gently. He will bond fast and deep with his people. During the time we spent with him, the first person who interacted with him as his handler walked out of the yard, he stayed by the gate waiting- a loyal love bug through and through. Because of that devotion, he may miss you when you go at first, its natural, but with time and routine he will settle into knowing his favorite people always come home. Charlie would do best in a home with a yard and another playful, medium-energy dog to run and romp with. He could adjust to apartment living once his leash manners are polished as long as he gets plenty of playtime and adventures to meet his mental and physical needs. No cats for Charlie though, his eager friendliness does not vibe with cats. We all know cats- if you’re too eager they don’t care for you and that goes for dogs too. Meet Starlight — a big squishy stuffed-animal collector trapped inside the body of an American Bully mix. ✨ At around 5 years old, Starlight has officially decided that stuffies are EVERYTHING. The moment she walked into the house and spotted a box of plush toys, this girl immediately stopped what she was doing to go shopping. No hesitation. She carefully picked out her favorite toy, proudly carried it around the room, tossed it up in the air for herself, chewed on it happily, and honestly acted like a little kid at Build-A-Bear. Watching her with toys is genuinely adorable because she takes her collection VERY seriously. And honestly? Starlight is kind of iconic for it. This is not the type of dog who needs constant attention, nonstop cuddles, or somebody entertaining her every second of the day. Starlight is an independent queen. She’s happiest just peacefully existing in her space, carrying around a toy, lounging in a comfy spot, and doing her own thing while her people simply let her be herself. That doesn’t mean she isn’t sweet — because she absolutely is. She has the cutest giant smile and this soft squishy face that makes you want to kiss her forehead immediately. She just prefers relationships that move slowly and respectfully. She’s the kind of dog who appreciates calm energy, patience, and people who understand that trust doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Once she feels comfortable though, she really just wants a peaceful little life: A soft bed. A backyard to wander around tossing her toys in the air. A comfy couch. Her emotional support stuffies. And humans who love her exactly as she is. With other dogs, Starlight is definitely more of a “quiet roommate” type than a social butterfly. During a recent visit with us away from her foster home, she mostly kept to herself, carried her toys around proudly, and focused more on finding cozy little spaces than interacting with the new people and other pups. She wasn’t interested in playing or joining the dog party — honestly, she seemed much more content simply existing nearby and doing her own thing. She did best around calm, respectful dogs who gave her space and didn’t put pressure on her to interact. When dogs approached her, she tolerated them well as long as they stayed easygoing and carefree, but she clearly preferred peaceful coexistence over active friendship. Her perfect dog sibling would basically be another independent little soul who’s happy to share a home, nap in the same room, and mind their own business together like two introverted roommates. But let's be honest, Star Light would prefer being your one and only gal. She’s just a girl who loves her personal space. If she went to a home with another dog, her ideal match would be a super mellow, easygoing dog who’s happy simply existing nearby without trying to wrestle, play constantly, or overwhelm her. She’s not looking for chaos — she’s looking for peaceful company. Starlight also appreciates people who understand and respect her boundaries. She’s made really lovely progress already and showed she’s trying hard to communicate appropriately when she feels unsure. She simply needs humans who will listen to her body language, move slowly with her, and let trust build naturally instead of forcing interactions before she’s ready. Because of that, no kids for Miss Starlight, and no cats either — they’re just a little too exciting for her. A quieter home with a predictable routine and a yard would likely help her feel safest and most comfortable. Apartment life would probably feel a little too busy and overstimulating for her personality. There is something really special about dogs like Starlight. She’s not trying to be the center of attention. She’s not asking to go everywhere or meet everybody. Roxy Room Charmer is a round little pittie with a huge smile, expressive ears and absolutely no intention of leaving a room without introducing herself to everyone in it. She adores people, leans her whole body into affection and has perfected the art of backing up and plopping herself directly into an available lap. She also earns a very solid 10 out of 10 for her splooting abilities. Roxy is fostered in a loving home and currently lives with a large dog who enjoys the same rough-and-rowdy style of play she does. She has met several other dogs and definitely has a type. Her best match would be a confident, playful larger dog who can comfortably keep up with her enthusiasm without creating conflict. Roxy can be bossy and overly involved when other dogs are playing, so thoughtful introductions, good supervision and a dog-savvy family will be important. She could also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as the only dog in the home. Despite her enthusiastic play style, Roxy knows how to come inside and switch over to relaxation mode. At home, she is low-key and content to stretch out, enjoy some snackies and collect as many belly rubs as possible. She is both house and crate trained and walks into her crate easily. Roxy is still working on her leash manners around other dogs. She can bark and pull out of excitment when she sees them, but she is continuing to work on these skills while waiting for her forever home. For now though, a home without shared apartment hallways or other tight, dog-heavy spaces will be the best fit for her. Her foster reports that she has done well with children, and we can easily picture her enjoying family life with people who appreciate an affectionate, silly dog with plenty of personality. She was wonderfully accepting of handling during her assessment and happily rolled onto her back for even more attention.
