You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Chance came to us after sitting/laying on a concrete kennel floor with a 'breeder' who didn't know what to do with a puppy that couldn't use his back legs :(  We were contacted and although we typically do not take large dogs we felt the need to help.We had him with 2 different vets both saying he would never walk again, even our medical director did not hold out any hope.  We just knew we had to try so the Director started researching and working on his back legs and then we started using a cold laser wand and a wheel chair and within months Chance went from the chair to what we called 'wonky walking' and now he races around the field!!!Chance is a typical bulldog doing what he wants and he is big so making him do anything is definitely not easy LOL.  He has learned the hand signal for sit and he will do it on command because he knows he gets a treat :)He is good with most dogs but we have found he is not fond of shihtzu's.  At the ranch he lives with cats coming in and out and has no interest in them.  Now if they gave him a hard time I'm pretty sure it would be game on!Chance may as he gets old need to revert back to a cart so we are looking for a home with either no stairs or only 1 or 2.  I do not suggest Chance for small children he is WAY to rambuncious and for some reason very fixated on them.If you have the right setup for a dog like Chance please fill out an applicationVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 1, 2025, 11:43 am

Story
Creed is an 8 month old beautiful boy that we got from some locals in our city. We bought him when he was 7 weeks old and he is such a sweetheart . After having him for some time, we realized that our demanding jobs and being first time parents prived us from being the owners and family that he deserves. His dad is a standard bully and his mom is a pitbull terrier. He has had trouble with learning to potty train so that is a something to consider. He is loving and gets along with other dogs and children. He deserves a loving space, he is small for his breed but beautiful and mighty.

Story
Koko is a 40 lb, 8 month old, spayed female. When we originally rescued her in November 2024 we were told she is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. She grew so much that we got the Embark DNA test and found out she is an American Bully, Pit Bull, Siberian Husky mix. She is a good dog but has some bad habits. She doesn't really follow commands, she pounces on people she meets and she is not welcome back at dog day care because she plays too rough. We tried basic puppy training classes and some one-on-one classes but they weren't really effective. She only knows "sit" and "down". Koko needs to be in a home with someone who is experienced and can provide the training that she needs. Koko is crate trained and house trained (we use doggy bells). She has not been around children or cats. She is good with car rides after the first few minutes. She loves going on walks but is a puller. She likes rope toys and squeaky toys. Koko loves belly rubs and having her head and ears scratched.

Story
Hi, I'm Tank! I'm a big softie, despite my tough-sounding name. I'm the perfect companion for those cozy nights in, always ready to snuggle up on the couch. I'm also great at making people smile, my sweetness is just infectious! I'm a good listener, too. You can tell me all about your day, and I'll just wag my tail in understanding. I do have a little quirk though - I'm quite protective over my food. But hey, who isn't a little protective over their favorite things? I'm just waiting for my forever home where I can share all this sweetness and warmth. Adopting me means gaining a loyal, loving friend who will always be there to brighten up your day. Why not let me bring some joy into your life?

Story
Hey! I'm Mace! I'm a stocky ball of energy and ready to bring the fun! Sometimes I'm having so much fun that I forget my manners! Woops! The staff here said that they send all dogs home with a Goodpup Scholarship, so we can refresh my memory on manners together when we get home! My previous family told me to tell you that I am crate trained and house trained, I LOVE to play, and I will make you smile every day!
